Cozy cottage with private Lake Superior beach in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula

Our cozy, lakeside cottage is perfect for up to 4, with 2 bedrooms and 1 full bathroom. Enjoy the privacy of our beach and home, or get out and immerse yourself in the beauty and adventure our Great Lake and the nearby Porcupine Mountains have to offer.

The cottage:
The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you may need to prepare a meal or cocktail. If cooking is your thing, you will enjoy the quality cookware, a collection of kitchen tools, and a gas grill. We provide K-cups, tea choices, and hot chocolate for your stay. There is a coffee grinder as well, if you prefer to bring your own coffee.

The living room faces the lake and offers amazing views. Cuddle up with a book, play a game, or watch a storm roll in over the lake.

There are 2 bedrooms (1 queen and 1 full bed) with quality memory foam mattresses and room darkening blinds. The larger bedroom has a second television.

There is one full bathroom with a tub and shower combination. Towels and hand soap are provided. We also provide 4 beach towels per stay and a washer and dryer.

The outdoor space:
There is plenty of parking and a good size yard. The star though, is the amazing beach, which is just steps from the door. You can walk for miles in both directions or just sit and soak up the sun. We provide lounge chairs and folding chairs for you to watch the sunset or enjoy a fire.

In the summer you can enjoy swimming or picking rocks, beach glass, or Yooperlites. We provide the UV flashlights you need to find these special rocks. You will also find beach toys, beach towels, chairs, and coolers. Everything you need to enjoy a day at the beach!

But summer isn’t the only option. The rest of the year is equally as beautiful, and very quiet. Most days, from September to May, you will have the beach and lake to yourself. Come for the spectacular colors in the fall or enjoy our winter wonderland.

The outdoor opportunities in the area are endless. We provide a variety of maps and guidebooks to help you make the most of your UP adventure. Whether you hike, ski, snowmobile, snowshoe, bike, or ATV...there are options within minutes.

Come and enjoy a spectacular sunset in any season!

What a fantastic place! Right on the beach and the house was outfitted perfectly. Everything we wanted/needed was already thought of. We will definitely stay here again the next time we are in the area. So much fun looking for the Yooperlites! Thanks to the wonderful hosts!

The cottage was just as described, and even roomier than shown in the photos. It was clean, comfortable and included everything we could possibly need and more. The location was just what we wanted--- quiet, private and perfect for beach walks and sunset viewing. Lori and Rob gave us our privacy but were available if needed. Instructions for household appliances etc, as well as helpful information about the local area was provided.We would definitely stay here again if we're in the area.

We 4 women had enough room to all be comfortable. How nice is that? Did not realize you had a pull-out sofa now. Firewood, books, gift card, coffee selection, cleanliness, ALL appreciated. Excited for next visit!

Very clean property and well-stocked. I could have left alot of things at home! I appreciated the 3 ring binder with info on the cabin and the area. Nice sandy beach area. Our 10 y/o Grandson was QUITE enamored with the cabin. We were able to take a nice long walk to the right towards the Lighthouse w/out seeing any other people.

Pure bliss

We came for our honeymoon and it was better than we could’ve imagined! Everything we needed was there, including a pasta dinner! The lake was stunning and the beach was even better! We loved looking for rocks!

June 2025 Review

This is a great place to stay. The house is nicely updated and sits right on a beautiful beach. The house is very well stocked with everything you can need even including firewood. The most well stock home we have ever stayed in. Very clean and updated. Great sunsets, fire on the beach and close to town. The owners I think put a lot of thought into the hose and property to make guests feel comfortable and to have everything they need. Nice owners and good communication. Best place we have stayed at in Ontonogon. Close to town and grocery about a couple miles. Would definitely stay here again.

Amazing place to stay. Highly recommend! Best hosts we've ever had.

This property and hosts are amazing. Everything in the house was so well organized and thoughtful. Beautiful views of Lake Superior. The hosts also included so many extras. Things like a pasta dinner, lots of dry firewood, beach chairs, yooperlite flashlights and much more. We absolutely love this place and we wouldn't even consider staying anywhere else. Fantastic experience!

Great place!!

We had a wonderful trip to the UP to go cross country skiing. This VRBO was a perfect location to enjoy the Porkies and ski trails further north. The home was wonderful- cozy, clean, and well equipped. Perfect!

Outstanding cottage on the Lake!

We loved everything about this property! We felt at home immediately and were impressed with how well stocked the cottage is. This is the first property we’ve stayed at that supplied kleenex! Thank you Lori! (Rob told us that you are responsible for all of the thoughtful additions and amenities.) The cottage seems to be recently updated all around. The kitchen is well stocked; they even provide a spaghetti meal for you! Our stay was quiet and peaceful. The cottage is steps from the Lake and an easy 15 minutes from the Porkies. We highly recommend a stay here!

Everything was perfect. The location right on the lake was amazing. The cabin was clean and well-stocked. Sunset views from the cabin were stunning. Owners are great. Highly recommend!

Perfect getaway on Lake Superior

The home was perfect in every way for us. Very thoughtful touches through out. We enjoyed a walk to the pier when we arrived & beautiful sunset on the night of our arrival. But also fully enjoyed experiencing Superior's wild side the next 2 days

Bliss at the Beach

This property has been recently updated and it is very cute! It is also very private. The best part is the beach...absolutely amazing!!!! The stress just melted away sitting in the adirondack chairs listening to the waves and looking at the stars. We wish we could have stayed forever. We will be back!

My husband and I grew up in the UP and recently moved back to the area. We love living on the lake and are so happy to introduce others to this amazing area. We love to travel, eat, and spend time with our dog.

The location of our cottage is very private, but town is only a 5 minute drive. There are days when you will feel like you have the entire lake to yourself. You can walk for miles on the beach, take a swim, and enjoy a s’more by the fire.

Our little cottage sits directly on one of the best beaches you will find. The views and sunsets are spectacular. The location allows you to do as much or as little as you like.
