This was the 3rd year our Christian women rent this house for a retreat. The house is perfect for us. The owner was quick to respond to my questions. We love the house and plan to return.

Great location for a Lake Weekend. Being behind the culvert limits the boat traffic so if you have kids that want to tube or you like skiing, this is the perfect spot. Plenty of space for our large group. The dock was nice and had plenty of room for the boat we rented and the kids were able to catch fish right off the side so they were very happy. We would happily stay here again.

Stay was fantastic, had one issue with water pressure and the owner showed up in 15 minutes to fix it. Our family has stayed here for the past 3 years and love it. Thanks John for letting us use your vacation home for our family to get together each year.

This house is perfect for families to gather! Lots of sleeping options and plenty of open gathering space on the bottom and main floors. The location on the lake is great for boating, kayaking, fishing and swimming, nice deep water right off the dock. Also, super close to shopping and a mini golf course too. We hope to return next year!

This property has a lot going for it — it’s very spacious, with a comfortable layout that could easily accommodate a group or multiple families. Unfortunately, our stay was impacted by several cleanliness and upkeep issues that we feel are important to share.When we arrived, it was clear the home had not been thoroughly cleaned before our visit. We noticed cobwebs in multiple areas, dusty and dirty surfaces, and a general lack of freshness inside. The bathrooms also had slow-draining sinks and showers, which made daily use less convenient. While none of these issues were catastrophic, they did add up and made the home feel less cared for than we had hoped.The yard was in need of regular maintenance. Overgrown spots and general neglect took away from what could have been a beautiful outdoor area. It’s easy to imagine how lovely it would be with some trimming, landscaping, and consistent care.We chose this property because of its size and outdoor space, and both of those features really do have great potential. With a bit more attention to deep cleaning, routine maintenance, and yard work, this could be a fantastic rental that guests would look forward to returning to. We hope the owner considers this feedback.The pro’s were large layout, large pantry, and the host is very responsive to any communication. The rockers on the porch are also lovely and relaxing.

Glorious time

This place was everything that we needed and expected for this weekend. We felt safe and comfortable as we retreated with ABBA. We had plenty of space to fellowship and enjoy each others company. Thanks again for allowing us to use your home to have our retreat.

Thanksgiving getaway

We visited the lodge for a thanksgiving family getaway. The rooms and house are very spacious. Vrbo’s description of the house was very accurate. The owners of the home are very nice, welcoming, and are timely in responding. One negative I would give is the housekeeping of the house. It needed more of a “detailed” cleaning. This property could also be more handicapped friendly as far as entering the house. Overall, it was a great stay and would recommend to others.

Calming retreat

A group of church ladies enjoyed rest at the lake and renewal in Jesus. The huge windows overlooking the lake provided the perfect scenery, just like we were in a movie. All of us recommend a stay here!

Nice Property on Lake Gaston

8 members of my bass fishing club stayed at Blue Heron Lodge for a weekend tournament on Lake Gaston. The house was clean, spacious, and comfortable, and property owner/manager John Gray was easy to work with. The long driveway worked well for four truck/boat trailer combos. The dock also worked well for two of our boats. We launched an recovered the other two each day. Some bushes could use trimming and the front porch and dock steps could use a coat of paint, but otherwise everything was to our liking.

You can't go wrong, great lake house

Great house, Great Location, Just Needs TLC

House was nice and the location was great. Kitchen was outstanding and the dishes, pots, and pans were great. The dock needed some love as it has not been maintained and there was significant cob webs in the corners of the rooms and the ceiling fans were coated with dust. The back yard was overgrown and you walked through it getting to the dock. We truly enjoyed our stay but wished that the little things were done to make the stay better. Owner was responsive and great to deal with.

Great Family Reunion

We had such a great time!! Lots of space for everyone. Even space to close the door so the "littles" could not hear the adults play games, loudly!! The dock was perfect for kayaks, paddle boards and a fishing boat. The water was deep so no feeling the bottom of the lake. Lots of parking for everyone coming and going. The grill was perfect for burgers, chicken and anything we threw on it!! We can't wait to go back! What a great week!!

Work retreat

My company held an event at Lake Gaston and several of my coworkers rented this house for a couple of days to attend the event. It is a beautiful home with an amazing view. What a great place to relax and hang out with friends. We did not want to leave. This would be a perfect house for a family vacation to the lake. Plenty of space, beautifully decorated, and conveniently located to the grocery store and local restaurants.
