True to colonial architecture, all of San Rafael's rooms open to alfresco spaces laden with palms & draped in bougainvillea. Slide open 3 walls of doors allowing the ocean air to fill the Cuban tiled kitchen and spacious library which provides a respite from the sun with entertainment, games & books. Linger at the Guanacaste table after a Costa Rican breakfast cooked by Flor, the house mom who will care for you & the villa during your stay. Plunge into the pool to cool off before lounging on the wicker chaises in the shaded alfresco space where the ocean feels like an extension of the villa.

As the sun dips, scramble up to the flowering rooftop terrace for spectacular views and breathtaking sunsets. A shallow tanning pool, filled with cool water during the day, is later filled with warmer water for star-gazing, while a flickering fire table gathers families & friends to toast the sunset.

The Posada San Rafael is unique in that it has no "second tier" rooms: all our king suites are master ensuites, each with its own unique combination of old columns, Cuban tile rugs & antique touches. Walls of sailor blue doors open to private terraces, balconies, or even a private plunge pool.
