Welcome to our `Cozy 2br/1ba Shem Creek Hideaway!`, located in a quiet residential neighborhood in one of the most convenient locations in Charleston, only a mile to the lively Shem Creek waterfront area, and less than a 10 minute drive to both Downtown Charleston and Sullivan`s Island beaches! Highlights of the home include an open living area, furnished outdoor back patio, and ample off-street parking. So come stay awhile!

Guests have access to the entire unit, the back patio, and an off-street parking space for one vehicle.

The home is managed locally by Southern Charmed Hospitality Group so someone is always available should any issues or concerns arise during your stay.

At the top of must-see places around Charleston is a quaint area known as Shem Creek. Don’t be fooled by the word creek — Shem Creek is actually a broad, inviting estuary where active shrimpers, fun-loving boaters, and seafood-seeking locals congregate. This charming section of Mount Pleasant draws outdoor enthusiasts to its flanking boardwalks for a mecca of dining and outdoor activity. A favorite place with the locals to wind down.

- Downtown Charleston: Less than a 10 minute drive
- Sullivan’s Island: Less than a 10 minute drive
- Isle of Palms: Less than a 15 minute drive
- Charleston International Airport: 20 minute drive

While there are numerous restaurants/bars within walking distance of the home, including the Shem Creek waterfront area a mile away, the Charleston area is best explored with your own vehicle as public transportation is not a convenient option.

For when you want to leave your vehicle parked:

Rideshare apps: Uber/Lyft both operate in the area so a ride can be requested through the app.

Charleston Water Taxi: Provides transportation via boat between Mount Pleasant and Downtown Charleston.

MOUNT PLEASANT LOCATIONS:
- Charleston Harbor Resort Marina
- Patriots Point Maritime Center: Use if visiting the USS Yorktown or any of the sites there.

HOME

THIS IS AN OLDER HOME BUILT IN THE 1950`S THAT STILL HAS TRAITS ASSOCIATED WITH AN OLDER HOME. While there have been some small cosmetic renovations it still has old bones and guests may notice areas of uneven flooring, cracks in ceilings, cracks in paint, etc. If comparing prices in Charleston, we feel it is an affordable alternative to hotels and other homes in the area but anyone expecting luxury accommodations in a brand new house should look elsewhere.

DUPLEX

This home is a duplex with a larger main home in the front. The units have their own private entrances, parking, and outdoor patios and share no spaces.

CANCELLATIONS

Guests will receive a 95% refund up to 30 days before check-in. After that, no reservations are given.

DAMAGE DEPOSIT

A $500 damage deposit will be pulled from the card used for booking prior to the departure date. This deposit will be fully refundable to the card within 5-10 business days after departure if there are no claims made for damages.

HOUSE MANUAL

The house manual with all of the details needed for your stay will be sent out at 9am THE MORNING OF YOUR ARRIVAL directly in the message thread of the account used for booking.

Please do not ask for it earlier, or ask for it to be sent elsewhere.

INCLEMENT WEATHER

Your safety and comfort are our priority. In the unlikely event of a MANDATORY EVACUATION ORDER FOR CHARLESTON COUNTY during your stay, rest assured that both the Owner/Host and the Property Management Company WILL REFUND 100% OF YOUR PAYMENTS for the dates of evacuation. Once refunded, neither party will have further liability regarding your reservation.

Please note that ONLY MANDATORY EVACUATIONS WILL QUALIFY FOR REFUNDS. No other travel disruptions due to weather, whether in South Carolina or other states, are eligible. For protection, consider travel insurance, especially in high-risk months like hurricane season. Airbnb`s insurance or other options are recommended and we urge you to look into them prior to confirming your reservation.

INSECTS

As Charleston is situated in a warm, coastal climate it is possible to see insects inside or outside of the home at times. These include palmetto bugs, sand gnats, mosquitoes, ants, etc. Those who reside in the Lowcountry just accept this as part of living here but it may be unsettling for those from other areas. The home is treated regularly for pest control but this will not entirely eliminate insects from getting inside at times. Please do your best to not keep doors and windows open and not leave food or drinks out in the home as this will attract insects. FINDING AN INSECT IS NOT CAUSE FOR A REFUND.

We enjoyed the cleanliness and location of this beautiful home. It was perfect for our 3-4 guests. Its location is great for nearby beaches, shopping, Shem Creek, downtown Charleston, and so much more. We look forward to coming back and staying here again!

The location was close to many of the area’s attractions and we could walk to some from the house. The house was comfortable and the backyard a peaceful place to have morning coffee. I would happily stay there again!

Cute spot close to restaurants/bars and coffe shops and gym. Inside was well done. Easy to find what you need. Cozy couch, bed was a little hard for us. Be aware no table to eat at one tv tray table could use set of them. Over all price was great and location.

Location was great! Our place was clean and very well-appointed. It’s walking distance to Shem Creek restaurants and shops. And a quick 10 minute drive to Sullivans Island. Couldn’t be a better location. The street itself is not what we expected. The houses are somewhat run down with cars parked in fromt yards etc. But it’s safe and a great find in a fantastic location. As the owner points out, it’s an older cottage so expect the charm that comes with an older property. We loved it.
