à propos de cet hébergement
Pet Friendly Hilltop Retreat in the Woods
Slip away from the rest of the world in our spacious home atop a hill, at the end of a dirt road, and adjacent to Nehantic State ForestâŠ..yet only 10 minutes North of I-95!
This custom home was built in 1982 and purchased by us in 2018. It has modern accents as well as the charm of a lived-in home.
Lounge around, cook and enjoy a fire. Or, visit our charming towns, great restaurants and windy New England roads. Either way- we are sure you willl love it here as much as we do.
We welcome pets!! Our dog and three cats will happily let your pets hang out for a while and enjoy the pleasures of Cedar Ledge. Or, if you would love to have cats hang out with you, they would be happy to stay. (Note: two rooms are strictly no-cats so allergic guests have a safe space!)
Our home is very spacious and good for a group or large family. We have a well-appointed kitchen with everything you could need, including staples in the cupboard and fridge.
We provide paper towels, toilet paper and cloth napkins, so fill that space in your car with more wine!
Downstairs includes a sunroom with sitting area and breakfast table adjacent to the kitchen. A few steps into the hall you will find the downstairs half-bath on one side and the laundry room on the other. Separated by pocket doors is a large living area with TV, wood-burning fireplace, and upright piano, as well as a formal dining area and multiple sitting areas.
In addition there is one bedroom downstairs with twin beds, TV and fully renovated bathroom with walk-in shower, soaking tub and double sink basin. This bathroom also has a heated floor. This shower is wheelchair accessible.
Upstairs are the three additional bedrooms with Saatva and Casper mattresses, comfortable linens and aller-ease pillow covers on all pillows. Each room has sets of towels for guests.
Upstairs you will also find the second full bathroom with claw foot tub and shower.
The surrounding yard and woods are our homeâs best feature. Views of Rogers lake, wooded surroundings and a spacious front lawn (fire pit!) are complimented by two decks and a small manicured courtyard in the back of the house. Various deck chairs and a dining area included.
The area is rich with history and beauty. And lobster rolls. Come and enjoy!!!
PETS:
Pets must be up to date with vaccinations and be on flea and tick prevention to visit our home. If your animals go on the furniture, please advise us so we can leave furniture covers for use.
GETTING THERE:
Train: Both Amtrak and Shoreline East/Metro-north stop in Old Saybrook as well as New Haven. Rental cars are available nearby both train stations.
Plane: Bradley/Hartford airport and Greene/Providence are each an hour away.
Car: 10 minute drive from I-95, exit 70.
PARKING:
Outdoor parking for multiple cars is available on site. There is no public transportation nearby. However,
OTHER THINGS TO NOTE:
We live in the woods, which we hope you will appreciate. A few hiking trails can be accessed directly from our yard. Remember this also means wild animals are in abundance. While they are not welcome in our home, we consider the outdoors their domain and strive to treat it as if we are their guests. The exception is ticks - which we find with some frequency and kill with relish. Please check yourselves and your pets upon returning from any walks beyond the lawn.
You will see lots of birds-wild turkeys walk through the yard periodically. At night you will hear owls, fox and coyotes (and frogs in summer). And the possum will be out eating ticks, so let them do their job.
