Gorgeous house!Love the style, location was perfect for us.La La Falls and all its lyrebirds are just around the corner. We saw Pink Robins 400m from the Mt Donna Buang Summit, just along the track towards Mt Victoria. We found some outstanding local food and wine options nearby. Great mid-week stay! Loved it.

Charming, cosy, beautiful, relaxing place to stay. The only issue we had was no hot water at night but the solution was in one of the comprehensive information folders and it wasn’t hard to turn the gas on; must have just been an small oversight. Apart from that small hiccup, the character-filled house, and the wood heater for ambience, combined with gorgeous surrounds made for an amazing weekend. (The complimentary wine was delicious as well.)

Margate certainly has lots of character! We loved relaxing on the deck after a long day of bushwalking. Great location too.

Country charm in wonderful Warby

We loved our two nights in this colourful, cosy and quirky cottage with wonderful views and avian entertainment by Kookaburras, Galahs, Rosellas. Two generous verandas were delightful to sit on and it was easy to make ourselves at home and a convenient location.

Total relaxation

I spent 4 nights at the property with my daughter. A very charming and comfortable house close to town. The beds were very comfortable and there were so many areas to sit, relax and chill out which is what we wanted to do.

Beautiful bohemian getaway

We loved staying here, each room has its own luscious bohemian feel, there are great books to read and the guitar works! The setting is gorgeous overlooking the mountains, we got a stunning sunset and no fewer than nine kookaburras laughing their way into the night. The beds were so comfortable, I'm going to say the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in at a holiday rental! :) The kitchen is rustic and filled with helpful utensils, sharp knives (gasp!), and an array of chai teas to choose from. Best of all, we loved receiving our greeting hamper of local organic wine and chocolate. The house is close to the shops, a few minutes in a car or on a bike, and maybe 15-20 minutes on foot. Be ready for steep hills! Thanks for a lovely stay.

Wonderful place to stay

The communications with the owner were excellent and the house itself was beautifully furnished. There were also large rooms and verandahs. The view from the site was magnificent and ever-changing in the light. There was a minor problem with the plumbing, though. The water pipes made a very loud noise when the taps were turned on.

Simply Awesome!

This ticked all the boxes and comes highly recommended. We loved the fireplace and playing games in front of it at night. The complementary local bottle of wine and slab of chocolate is a wonderful touch, and much appreciated. If you are looking for a place to reconnect as a family and spend quality time away from technology, this is the place!

Get back to nature in the Yarra Valley

We loved our stay at Margate. Everything we needed to relax and rejuvenate after a busy year dealing with COVID. During the day we explored the area including the temperate rainforest, national park, redwood forest & waterfalls. Beds were super comfortable & we had quiet evenings in front of the fire with drinks, board games & music. Loved the ambience of the vintage decor & furniture, and there are two very comfortable decks where you feel so high you could be sitting in the trees with the cockatoos, kookaburras, rosellas and other birds. One deck gets the sun in the morning with a comfy lounge suite for your morning coffee & the other has lovely shade & a barbecue for the evening. We also really appreciated the complimentary bottle of red & chocolate on arrival! A hidden gem!! Shush... don’t tell anyone.

Gateway to the snow

Fantastic home away from home. No tv and wifi was great to unwind and easy access to lake mountain and mt Donna Buang. Quirky and clean excellent to escape for a few days

This property is only good for adults.

We stayed there with our two kids but they did not enjoy and we were disappointed with the amount of firewood left for us otherwise it was ok. Do we come back again I do not think so?

Perfect weekend getaway

We had a fabulous stay at Margate. The house is gorgeous with lots of character, lovely spaces to relax both inside and outside, comfy beds, a gorgeous garden and just a short walk from town and the river. We'll definitely be back! Thanks so much :)

Charm and Character

We very much enjoyed the charm of yesteryear of this extraordinarily beautiful house. The location and views from the veranda were breathtaking. We spend lots of time just sitting on the veranda reading and gazing onto the mountains and forests. The house had everything we needed but fly screens in the kitchen and lounge, as well as access to a washing machine would have been a big bonus. Overall we had a very pleasant and relaxing stay in this wonderful part of Victoria.
