I have been a landlord for many years without incident and have repeat renters frequently. I hesitate to respond to the allegations and recollections of the stated events, but they are egregiously unfounded, undocumented and untrue. The claims of fraud & robbery of damage deposit are litigious in regards to the security deposit. VRBO required me to send proof of damages. Only after VRBO doing their due diligence, did they release the tenant’s security deposit to me. As for the charge for cable boxes, I have smart TV’s which require no box. I am charged to furnish boxes and I pass it along, since there is no need for them except renter preference of familiarity with the remote. As for the utility charge, it is an overage fee to protect me from abusive electricity bills due to misuse of the air conditioner. Since it’s November, the allotted utility budget should have been ample, especially the claim about the dishwasher. This is the first time I had to collect the fee in all the years of renting. As for the sheets and towels, I was made aware at 11pm. I promptly provided brand new sheets and towels the next morning at 10am, despite the fact that there are several sets of sheets and extra towels. Please note that at no time did the occupants contact me through VRBO, to avoid abusive and fruitless confrontational rants, nor did they contact VRBO with any problems until they wrote this baseless review. Had any allegations been true, they certainly would have gone through VRBO while they were renting my property for prompt resolution or at the very least documentation. I am assuming the motive for this review is financial and a reflection of poor moral character & addiction because there is absolutely no validity to the claims. That being said, I wish them well and would recommend using the hotel system for all future travel since this behavior is not suitable as a house guest.
