This property was exactly what we were looking for. The main house was comfortable and inviting as well as very clean. The AC in the main house was not as cold as it was in the casita, but for us, it was not an issue to complain about. The casita was also very clean and inviting. The grounds and lake access were perfect. I wish the outdoor entertaining and lounging areas were prepared a little better when we arrived i.e. decks swept, cobwebs removed, furniture wiped down, and cushions placed on chairs. However, for the price, it was not really an issue; it just would have been a nice touch. The host was very communicative and answered all questions/concerns in a timely manner. Our family had a wonderful and relaxing weekend at this property and will book again!

During our stay we had a plumbing problem where sewage backed up into the shower and over the rim of the toilet. We contacted them on Friday night to report this problem. No one called us back on Friday. As a result we cleaned up the bathroom ourselves. On Saturday they called us back but we were having fun with family and did not get to their call. On Sunday the problem re-occurred. We again contacted them. They sent out the maintenance guy who found an electrical short and made a repair which corrected the problem. When we contacted them to ask for a financial accommodation for the problem and they said because we did not call them back on Saturday they would not make any accommodations. Don't rent from Hill Country Stays, they won't help with you are up to your ankles in sewage.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We sincerely apologize for the plumbing issue you encountered during your stay. We understand how unpleasant and frustrating that situation must have been. When we received your initial message Friday evening, the last communication we received indicated that everything had been handled for the time being and that you wanted to speak with us the following day. We made multiple attempts to reach you by phone, text, and messaging but were unable to connect. We later learned that there were several different individuals communicating with us using different phone numbers and email addresses, including people who were not staying at the property. Unfortunately, this created significant confusion and made it difficult to communicate effectively. We were not notified that the issue had occurred again on Sunday, nor did we our maintenance technician. The problem was traced to the grinder pump system, which is maintained Kingsland Municipal Utility District rather than by Hill Country Stays. After identifying the issue, the necessary repairs were made and the problem was resolved by them. Our goal is always to respond quickly and take care of our guests. We regret that the communication challenges complicated this situation and are sorry that your experience did not meet the level of service we strive to provide. We appreciate your feedback and will continue working to improve our communication and response process.

The lake was beautiful, the decks and dock were great for hanging out. We do wish the main bedroom AC had more vents but grateful for the fan! Definitely a great location and lots of space!

Everything was good and the host was nice. The only issues we had were lack of ramp for a wheelchair or a walker, inability of contact when there was no hot water, we had to shower with cold water and there were so many tasks that were expected from us that I felt I couldn’t relax. The winds at one point were strong and we had to go and secure everything outside and bring things inside. I asked the host about what there was to do locally and no answer was given. There was a disposal but we weren’t allowed to use it. Just a lot of small details that add up but the worse one was just that there is no mention of no access for the disabled on the listing

Great place for a relaxing stay, right off the river

Can’t say enough good things about the backyard, private dock and private lagoon. Great layout in the main house and very spacious, plenty of beds for everyone to sleep, and very clean. Very well stocked kitchen with everything you’ll need and a bonus they have the kayaks and paddle boards available to borrow as well. Kelly was super helpful and quick to respond and this part of the river is beautiful!

Awesome place to stay!!

I would say this house is absolutely amazing, fully stocked with everything you need. My family and I just spent a few days to celebrate my dads 50th birthday. And it was a total success. Kids had a blast playing in the huge yard and the lake as well.
