Cette cabane en rondins situĂ©e au sommet d'une montagne Ă  Gateway Mountain, une rĂ©serve naturelle de 3 000 hectares, constitue une escapade merveilleuse pour la famille et les amis, Ă  proximitĂ© des attractions et activitĂ©s de l'ouest de la Caroline du Nord. Restez sur la montagne et profitez de tout ce que Gateway Mountain a Ă  offrir, notamment 2 lacs et un Ă©tang Ă  truites pour la pĂȘche avec remise Ă  l'eau (sans permis.), Un magnifique parc de cascades, des sentiers de randonnĂ©e et une faune abondante.
Cette jolie cabine dispose de 3 chambres Ă  coucher et de 2 salles de bain complĂštes avec une baignoire jacuzzi dans une baignoire et une baignoire profonde dans la baignoire de l'autre. Un poĂȘle Ă  bois dans le salon rĂ©chauffe l’ñme les nuits fraĂźches et ne manquez pas les magnifiques levers et couchers de soleil depuis le pont qui s’enroule autour du pont. Situé à 10 minutes de l'autoroute I-40, vous pourrez vous rendre facilement à Black Mountain, à Asheville et à Blue Ridge Parkway en 30 ou 45 minutes. Lake Lure et Chimney Rock - 30 minutes.

Incredible view; treacherous driving (AWD needed!!)

The view was breathtaking. The level of remote-ness was more than we realized. Virtually no phone service or the ability to contact the outside world in event of emergency. Which we experienced. We could not access the house at first, as the check in lock malfunctioned. The driveway is NOT accessible except to serious off road 4 wheel drive. We required a tow-truck to get us out on the 1st morning, as the EXTREMELY STEEP grade is NOT maintained properly!! The property owners declined to compensate for the $175 tow truck fee.

Overall very nice. A few hazards and deeper cleaning needed

The cabin has the most phenomenal view! The drive up to the cabin is NO joke but so worth it! The kitchen was clean and well equipped and the bathrooms were very clean. The house could use a “deep” clean with accent pillows washed, vacuuming under the beds and around the fridge. We did not use the hot tub as the water was very cloudy and we weren’t sure what to do. A portion of the steps were tough to get down, especially at night. The railing was missing pickets in some areas, so just be careful with small children, elderly and your pets. Additionally, various hazards laying around outside, a pallet with rusty nails in the driveway, and boards laying under the deck. Be careful with small children and pets. That being said, we definitely enjoyed our Christmas holiday and made special memories and would return!

Thanksgiving get away

We loved the cabin, well stocked, loved cooking in the kitchen, awesome gas stove with griddle, open and roomy, tastefully and thoughtfully decorated, amazing views, clean and so happy that our pets could join us. Everything was truly great. The driveway is steep and graveled, so for a sedan type car, just get a good running start up the drive when leaving, subaru forrestor and my son's toyota tocoma had no problems.

Living in the sky

Fantastic location with an absolutely breath-taking view, which you are able to experience entirely once you open the doors. So warm and well - appointed house with very efficient property managers, who provided together with the homeowners detailed, informative and clear communication, so we could easily review this property as a five star home. The house was exceptionally clean and extremely well stocked - well done housekeeping team! And YES! They did not forget even about our Bull Terrier boy to make him feel as if he was at home. This property is far enough from the road, so we did not have to be worried that our furry boy would get himself into trouble. The kitchen was amazing! Very large and comfortable bedrooms with perfectly fitted bathrooms. The location of the house is right in the middle of all the hiking trails you could name. Even though our stay was accompanied with rainy days, still we handled to visit all the hiking trails which we planned to conquer and enjoy the mountain treasures. You clearly have your mountains in the distance of your fingertips. Well done Black Bear Summit team!

The view!

The view from the deck across the tree-lined valley to Lake Lure in the distance is all you really need to know. This is the essence that make this house a terrific place to stay. The following comments are trivial in comparison: the house itself is beautiful and spacious ...but it has, for lack of better phrase, a corporate feel. The lived-in, human appointments are spare and the huge John Muir quote on the great room wall projects a C-suite atmosphere. My actual rating is 4.0-4.5. (if your car is not all-wheel drive, and it is relatively light, you should either park on the street or remember to get a running start when leaving. Also, if you want to get in shape quickly, take a 1+ mile walk on the road.)

Amazing view

Greybeard is off the beaten path, but it’s worth it. There is a local brewery,Hillman Beer, that we went to twice, the food was so good. My only complaint was that the dryer did not dry clothes but besides that it was fantastic.

Gorgeous view!

The cabin was nice, and the view worth the drive up the mountain. Very comfortable and we had a good week, Biltmore Christmas, a visit to favorite restaurant Esmeralda at Lake Lure, and topped it off with a visit to Hillman's in Old Fort. Would recommend it.

The cabin was amazing, the views were awesome. Very well stocked home. Only complaint was the cleanliness when we arrived, it was not well cleaned from the last stay and we had to clean several areas to feel comfortable. Otherwise it was great! I would go back

A great place!

We had a lovely time in the cabin. It is very very quiet and peaceful. The kitchen is extremely well stocked and a chef's dream. Plan to cook. There is a lovely firepit as well as the hottub. Our two dogs came and had a little yard to explore. You are located in the heart of everything. I would prepare for a bit of driving though as you are at the top of the mountain so you must wind down the mountain to get to where you are going which adds about 10 minutes to a trip. You are close to Lake Lure and Black Mountain. Our best day was the day we just hung out all day and night in and around the cabin reading and cooking. Loved it.

Loved it!

The cabin was just as advertised, very nice and clean with amazing views! It was well stocked for cooking and a great location to access Asheville, the larger mountains, and Lake Lure. We would highly recommend staying here!

Amazing view

Just walk down the driveway if you don’t have 4WD / AWD. Other than that, the house very comfortable and loaded with everything you’d need. Amazing views and close enough to Black Mountain, Lake Lure, and Asheville.

Lovely Week Away

The house is beautiful and the view is sublime. Everything was clean and well stocked. I would have found it helpful to know how steep the driveway was. After having a very difficult time getting up it, we parked at the top for the rest of the week, including when we packed up to leave. It worked for us, but it could be an issue for families with smaller kids or folks who aren’t steady on their feet.
