We loved our stay at "The Salty Dog." Beach access was wonderful, the area was quiet and peaceful which is exactly what we were looking for! Would stay there again if in the area.

This was a fabulous place to stay for a much needed vacation. House met all of our needs. Kitchen was well stocked. Bed was very comfortable. Back deck was great. Could have used a deeper cleaning.

Such a nice property!

We had such a nice stay at this lovely property on the beach! The photos on the website were very representative. The property was very clean, the towels and bed linens were crisp and fresh. The interior decor is fresh and inviting, but of course our favorite spot was the outdoor deck overlooking the beach. I would recommend this property to others.

Beautiful ocean view and beach, but poorly kept house

I hardly ever write reviews- but...This house was not what we imagined. The views and beach, just steps off of the porch were amazing! Sadly the house was a different story. I was there with my husband, brother, and mother in law. We would've left after the first night, if we had a place to go to. It smelled horrific under the kitchen sink!! The smell filled the entire house! They sprayed alot of deodorizer to camouflage the smell, and when that wore off after a few hours of being there, we were all sick to our stomachs. There was also very visable black mold in both bathrooms- i took pictures. At night we could all hear something chewing in the walls when we were trying to sleep! The next morning my husband looked underneath the house- which is elevated- and found 3 holes where rodents chewed through the base- i took pics of as well. They also have an awful toilet seat- that has chipped and been painted in those areas- it's gross.We took many pics and sent them all to property management. They had good communication and offered to send someone out, but we all know rodents, and mold remediation, etc isn't a quick fix. So, we stuck out the next 4 nights and stayed on the beach and elsewhere as much as we could. For that amt of money- these big issues need to be resolved. Not to mention- the porch has roof rott, unsafe floor boards, and the siding is rotted towards the bottom. This house needs some serious TLC. Pictures are very deceiving bcse it looks recently renovated.

Girls Weekend at Folly Beach

Cute house, very clean. Perfect for a get away on the beach. View of the beach was beautiful and very peaceful.

Perfect getaway for a couple

The master suite opens onto the Oceanside porch. Spectacular beachfront, beautiful bathrooms, great kitchen and well-appointed. (BTW, don’t bring any coffee filters. All the previous guests have left theirs for you, so there are HUNDREDS in the cabinet!) When you arrive in Folly and want to pickup your keys, the address of Dunes Properties is on your right, the south side of the street (we had a tough time figuring out which building was the correct one, it’s poorly marked.) Best to arrive in daylight all ‘round; we got here at night, and it was VERY hard to determine which house was the correct one….none of them are marked well either.There are stairs to get into the house, like all beachfront properties, so plan to haul your stuff up, up, up. The other 2 bedrooms are great; one has a queen and the other has 2 twin beds. We loved this place. Hope to return!

Peaceful Paradise

Our family especially enjoyed the porch looking out at the ocean, looking for seashells, sunrises and sunsets. Our stay was truly restful and magical! We all agreed we would like to return.

Just what we needed

We prefer to stay on the beach in a one story updated home. This checked all the boxes and came with rental credits for beach gear! We would definitely stay here again.

Relax and Enjoy the view

Out the door and 20 steps later you are on a perfect sandy beach. The house is perfect for a small group looking to relax. Plenty of comfortable seating in the family room looking out at the ocean. Wonderful balcony to feel the constant breezes and listen to the waves crashing the shore.

It was our first time to the area and although we went into Charleston every day it was great to come back every night to the beach. It was perfect.

Wonderful week at Folly Beach!

We spent the week at The Salty Dog,and found the house perfect for our girl's getaway. Nicely appointed, we had everything we needed. Beds were comfortable, the kitchen very well stocked, and the living room with full view of the beach was a great place to gather and visit. Most enjoyable was the porch, where we sat every morning and evening, and watched the waves and birds and weather. Conveniently located to Charleston and other area attractions, but far enough away from the hustle and bustle. All four of us remarked that the place was a great find!

View is great - needs major TLC

The view, rocking chairs on the porch and kitchen table (nice and big) were great, but that’s where it ends. The outside needs major tlc. The porch was peeling, rusting and the outside appearance in general needed spruced up. Every time we turned around we found something that needed repaired. A blind in the kitchen was missing and laying on the top of the cupboard, the drawers stick, the hose on the sink gets stuck in the on position and the light in the living room didn’t work. The light in the first bedroom didn’t work. The main bathroom’s toilet keeps running if you don’t lift the handle and the sink barely trickles even with both faucets turned all the way on. The dryer was missing a handle. The bed in the master was not comfortable and the master bath fan didn’t work and the sink was water rotted on the bottom and the floor looked like it had mold under it. It was very disappointing because it could be a great place to stay, but in its current condition I would highly advise against it.

Quiet, relaxing beautiful stay.

This was just what we were looking for. Beautiful views directly of the beach and plenty of peace and quiet. We will be back next year. : )
