Hearthstone Retreat - Meredith Lodging


Relax and unwind in the serene Hearthstone Retreat with a vaulted great room, gas fireplace and spacious kitchen. Outside living awaits surrounded by tall trees with a gas BBQ, picnic table, multiple decks and a firepit. Soak in the brand new private, outdoor hot tub after a day of fun at Mt Hood. This family friendly cabin is set up perfectly for one or two families spending time at Mt Hood. Kick back on the oversized stuffed furniture in the vaulted great room by the fireplace. The open kitchen has plenty of room for a crew of chefs cooking up a storm.

NEW! Game room in the backyard next to the hot tub is perfect for the night owls in your group who want to stay up late watching TV and playing pool. Hang out in comfy sofas and store your drinks in the mini-fridge at the wet bar.

You will have room for up to 11 guests with two downstairs bedrooms, one for the parents with a king bed and the second bedroom for the kids with a queen bed, bunk beds and a kids' play nook. A full bathroom and a laundry facility are just off the kitchen. Upstairs the second adult bedroom is the primary suite with a king bed, attached bathroom with large soaking tub and shower surround plus a private sunny balcony. The second bedroom upstairs is perfect for the kids with a queen bed and a twin bed and the kids' deck with games and picnic tables.

The private, outdoor hot tub is near the picnic area with a fence for privacy. A small fenced-in yard makes it easy to keep an eye on your dog.

Your dog is welcome to join you at the Hearthstone Retreat for an additional charge. You will be just minutes from the Mt Hood National Forest and dozens of miles of trails.

The host attentive, with it being the holidays I wasn’t trying to bug someone for every little thing, as a host myself I was trying to be respectful. But that’s all the positive things that could be said, this place has been neglected and is not cleaned well. I am a professional cleaner/ vacation rental manager and this place was a huge disappointment. Not sure if it’s on the owner or Meredith lodging but everything was moldy, wet, dirty, the whole house smelt like dog pee, there was a thick layer of dust on everything, the rugs are stained and have dog hair all over them from previous guests. We found huge chunks of mold slush in the hot tub as well as cigarette butts, the hot tub needed a drain and fill, severely! There were 8 of us and one of the toilets stopped working so we all had a use the upstairs toilet that is located inside of the master suite. The master suites free standing tub tips when you step into it, the shower curtains were stained with urine and mold. The downstairs bedroom with the bunks heater was broken, so it was freezing in there. Cobb webs, spider webs everywhere. The kitchen and bathroom drawers had hair and crumbs in them. We ended up using all paper and plastic products because the provided stuff was dirty. I took pictures if anyone would like to see. The front room fire place needs to get looked at as it doesn’t really light up super well, remotes don’t work with switch on. Wouldn’t book again.

Everything was great. The house was very clean and well maintained. The neighborhood was private and quiet. The only issue we had was that the grill was old and it did not heat up properly. The burners were rusted out so we were unable to grill out as planned. The kitchen had plenty of pots, pans, utensils, etc. There was no chalk for the pool cue. We were only provided with 2 dishwasher detergent pods for our group of 7 for a 4 day stay. A couple extra would have been appreciated. Other than the minor issues, it was a great place to stay.

Fabulous getaway

We had a great time! Lots of space, big hot tub and comfy beds. We also got lucky with a gorgeous snowy weekend. Would definitely stay again!

We enjoyed our stay however the house itself is a bit of a DYI project. Many doors didn’t close and one of the shower/tubs was unusable. We enjoyed the space but I don’t think I would revisit this property

Great cabin!

The place is much bigger somehow than we imagined. It was nice. Also fully fenced backyard which was great to let our dogs not have to be leashes every second. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others. Loved the backyard lights and the detached pool room. The only reason it wasn't 5 stars is because of 1. So closely within other houses. 2. Ceiling fans and back door cleanliness. 3 Parking. If you're interested in more details on these, you can see below. As far as any negatives these are super minor in comparison to other rentals. You're close to many activities, stores, and restaurants, with also giving the relaxation. We will use this rental again when we come back to the area. Overall it was a great choice and very comfortable. The cabin is sandwiched closely among other houses/cabins. Once you're inside and in the backyard you can't notice this though. The place was quite clean, except the ceiling fans need a severe dusting, as well as the frame of the back door. These were two areas that were constantly within eyesight. The rest was clean and great. The place technically has sleeping for at least 11, but only parking for 4. If it had more parking it would have the ability to house many more people.

Mt. Hood Vacation

The property location has poor cell service. I wish I had known I would have stopped when I did have good cell service to get the code for the door. I had to double back to town to get cell service for the door code. The interior was very nicely appointed, stocked and clean. The outside was not not. The back door to the unattached game room was very dirty and grimy. While the unattached game room was awesome the back yard looked in areas like a neglected constructions site with boards leaning up against the building. I did not feel safe letting my kids explore. Also did I mention how dirty and grimy the back door was? Then we discovered a plumbing problem with the upstairs shower. The tub drain was not connected to the drain pipe so it spilled all over the floor and leaked into the bathroom down stairs. The property management team offered us another house but we had already moved in so we toughed it out with one shower for all of us. We were not sure we were going to get a better house or not.. In summary this house is a well appointed large cabin. The un attached game room was alot of fun. The cabin was very clean so the disappointment was in how it was being maintained, and the outside back yard was a bit sketchy. I am sure the owners have great pride in this cabin, however for the money I paid I was a bit disappointed and I do not think it was the owners fault but who ever is in charge of the maintenance. That plumbing problem was so strange, how do you rent out a cabin when the tub is not connected to the drain pipe?

Great stay in the snow

Had a nice couple days in Rhododedron. House is easy to get to, even in snowy conditions. Worked really well for having kids, including having the separate back house to be louder in while the kids slept. We’d love to come back!

Great for bringing family together.

Beautiful, well equipped, fantastic fenced yard for pets and kids,, lots of room to spread out and do a variety of things. The kitchen was big enough for group cooking/eating. The Christmas tree was a very nice surprise and touch. The beds were very comfy and the bedroom decks would be divine during summer. My whole family said they would like to return here again next year for our family Christmas. My only complaints are we were not sent a code for the door before arrival as expected. . But I was able to get it by contacting VRBO. And the house/pool room/and hot tub were all very cool when we arrived and into the first night. We wish it would have been warm for us upon planned arrival to a snowy mountain cabin, so we could enjoy it fully from the start. Next time I’ll request that ahead of time to ensure it’s warm for us upon arrival. 4 stars instead of 5 only because everything was so cold upon arrival.

Lovely home

The home exceeded our expectations. The beds were so comfortable, it was very nice. The dogs enjoyed the fenced yard and we enjoyed relaxing in the great room with the fireplace. Would highly recommend!

Loved everything about the property till I had to look for something under one of the couches..under the downstairs furniture and around the washer and dryer was an overwhelming amount of dirt , dust bunnies ( big huge ones!!)and filth...otherwise we loved it!!

Such a gem!!

One of the best stocked and appointed vacation rentals Ive been to (which is saying a lot!!) Lovely space, comfy beds, well stocked kitchen awesome hot tub close to skiing. The dish washer wasn’t working, which was one small bummer, but nit a deal breaker. Tha ks for sharing this lovely space with us!!

Spacious house with fun game room

Wished it had been a little closer to Government camp for snow activities but it wasn't a bad drive. House was private and spacious. The game room was nice but we didn't use much because it was detached. Loved the hot tub. House was a little dusty and needed a carpet shampoo - I have dog allergies and could smell the dander. Not sure if dryer was broken but it took hours to dry each load - had to run 3 cycles.

Wonderful house. Had everything you would need to enjoy a weekend away with friends.

Large house with plenty of room for all. Hot tub was perfect and super clean and hot. The fire pit was located close to the hot tub which made it a great view and atmosphere. Definitely will plan to come back again.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Could have been a lot cleaner. Cobwebs in bathroom. Upstairs toilet dirty. Enough old food on “clean” dishes that we could tell what they ate. Old French fries in bottom oven drawer. Lights didn’t work above hot tub. Neighbor’s dog barked all day long. Broken washer that we depended on, so had to wait around for a repair person. Good location for hiking trails.

Great location with open spaces

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was more than happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This cabin isn't huge, but it had room for two families to come together. It was very clean upon arrival. We used our Clorox wipes soon as we walked in the door and they all came up clean! The beds are crazy comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked with plenty of plates for everyone. The heaters work VERY well in each room. There are two private decks of the bedrooms, one is huge for private sunning. The hot tub was drained and cleaned before our visit so everyone felt comfortable using it. The fact that it is dog-friendly is perfect. The backyard was a good size and there was a side yard that also gates off. We did need to do a walk around the property to check fences, all checked out. However, not everyone cleaned up after their dog before us. There was also some sharp items around yard we moved. The price was something we are not crazy about since the washing machine was broken prior to our visit. And on our first use the upstairs shower dripped and damaged the downstair shower ceiling. Leaving two families to share one shower the entire visit. Oh, how I was looking forward to using the floating deep bathtub. In March there was no snow what so ever. Since we didn't receive address before booking, we thought we would be higher on the Mt. and in the snow. 15 min. drive up the hill and we found snow and hit the snow park for night tubing. Property management was very helpful from booking through departure. Very easy to get a hold of.

The enclosed backyard was a safe place for our dogs to play. There's a sweet kids room that's decorated with super fun lights and little bean bag chairs. We loved this place and hope to return asap. It was clean and the management company was great at communication.
