Pros: Love love love staying at Sugar Beach Resort. It’s a great spot on a gorgeous stretch of super soft clean beautiful beach (water is calmer in the early morning and winds/waves pick up quite a bit in the afternoons!) lots of people walking in the beach. Very accessible spot to explore the island. Interior furniture is updated and very comfortable. Great AC and in unit washer/dryer. Comfy king sized bed. Lovely view from the lanai - perfect for sunsets. Modern updated appliances. Kitchen basics are supplied in the unit (olive oil, spices, sugar, condiments) which I always appreciate! Mila was very quick and responsive when I asked questions before making the reservation. Cons: While some aspects of the unit have been updated, some of the amenities are ready for updating (i.e. formica counters, wall scuffs, pool towels had rust stains). Shower water pressure was on the lighter side. No shopping bags, coolers, or boogie boards/pool noodles to take to the beach/pool and only 1 folding beach chair. Mila was slower to respond when I wrote her on Sunday morning about a few of the cleanliness issues and difficulty finding the frying pans (note: they’re stored in the oven). She wrote me back on Tuesday and offered to remediate. Overall, I’d recommend staying here as it’s priced appropriately all things considered so if you’re looking to save a little, this is a perfect spot!

Hawaiian Getaway

My family and I absolutely enjoyed our stay at Sugar Beach Resort. We have been staying at this location for many years now and we wouldn’t want to stay anywhere else. SB408 is a very nice condo. It’s an ocean view condo not an ocean front just to let you know. Views are still spectacular. Condo was very clean and had new appliances. It could use new pots and pans as they are quite scratchy. They didn’t have any scissors at the condo which was inconvenient. We had issues with our TV and wifi but I got into touch with the VRBO property manager and she rectified the situation quickly and communication with her was friendly and easy. I would definitely recommend this condo to anyone wanting to stay at Sugar Beach. Mahalo!

Great family trip

This was an amazing property for our first family trip. Property was as advertised and the location could not be beat - steps from the beach, good pool and very quiet. Everything in the suite was very clean and well stocked. Communication from the manager could have been better. We were checking in at night and were only given a condo number and the door code. Multiple buildings, hard to find elevator and a crying baby made the first night challenging. All in all a good spot and would go back in a heartbeat.

Friendly People

We met many friendly people who either owned or were renting. The pool and hot tub were well maintained. The condo and view were as described. The bed was comfortable. The light in the living room did not work properly, flashed on and off. It should be replaced. It would have been nice to have a light over or by the table.

Well maintained modern condo.

This property is wonderful. Our family loved its proximity to the beach with great views. The pool and spa were clean and a great temperature. The condo had very good equipment for a family stay. A foldaway bed would have added to its appeal. A teenager sleeping on the lounge was not the best scenario although it was comfortable enough. Only drawback was charges made by VRBO which added $100 per night to the cost of an already expensive accomodation package. Other than that i would stay here again but make my booking direct with Sugar Beach Resort.

Not better than the pictures

Property definitely wasn’t as clean as it should be and we had to wash most dishes before using them. Washer was crazy loud, not a big deal but just know you should not run a load if you’re trying to do anything in the condo. Pictures are a little misleading and make it look better than real life. Not the property’s fault but it was extremely windy the entire stay ruining most afternoons at the pool or beach. Still in Maui though so hard to complain too much!

Awesome property. Everything was great. The good: Location Pool Beach View Clean property Easy parking Couple of things that could be improved. 1) Pool code never worked. It says we could get it from the office. We were always out and about and office is closed when we are back. Would have been nice to get a code easily. 2) My kids like blankets. We had total of 3. Although enough, it was barely enough. 3) Would have preferred additional soap/shampoo but ABC store close by had Everything we needed.

Nice location, hands off management.

The location is beautiful, beach is soft sand but minimal with higher tide. The pool is warm, hot tub is not very hot and both are very busy. The master bedroom is nice and roomy and the bed is comfortable. The pullout mattresses are very thin, you can feel the bars through them, which didn’t bother my teen son but the other adult in the room was very uncomfortable. The communication with management is minimal and fairly standoffish… not warm and welcoming as I’ve experienced elsewhere on the island. I personally would not return to this rental, the wifi code and pool code posted on the fridge were both incorrect, the oven was blinking a code the entire time but to be fair I didn’t reach out about this because we weren’t using the oven, there was a super long wifi code on the router (which was inconvenient and irritating to find) and we had friends staying in another unit with the code to the pool. These details and the lack of welcoming communication is a turnoff for me when spending so much on a 4 day rental.

Mila and her condo are a GEM! True Beachfront Property!

First, I want to be clear that Mila and the condo are great. The location is conveniently located. Parking was plentiful and well lit. We never felt unsafe or isolated. Just a short walk from the parking lot to the elevators and a few doors down from the elevators when you arrive on your floor. The view was exactly as it is represented in the photos. When you sit on the lanai, you have a great view of the beach and the pool area. Sugar Beach Resort is immaculately maintained by a grounds crew. We saw them working hard every morning to clean the pool, check chemicals, clean the sidewalks and lawn (which is like a golf course). The other guests appeared to primarily be adult couples and retirees, which made for a pleasant and quiet environment. The beach area is a quick walk from the elevator, down a sidewalk, past a shower, and onto the soft, sand beaches. (We found that it's called sugar because of the powdery texture of the sand.) The condo itself was very convenient and we loved that everything was tile, which made it much more clean and sanitary than carpet. The washer and dryer worked great and made our stay so much easier. The oven wasn't working when we were there, so we didn't get to use that, but the stovetop worked fine. The kitchen had a blender, rice cooker, some sheet pans, a pot big enough for pasta, some knives and cutting boards, and LOADS of dish sets. We bought/left a new nonstick pan, colander, and some cooking utensils for the next guests. The cleanliness rating is a reflection of the property management or housekeeping company only. It was not the owner's fault, but whomever is cleaning is not doing so thoroughly. The fridge and freezer smelled very stale (we bought some baking soda to put in there that will hopefully help, but it wasn't working by the time we checked out). We swept several times a day to keep the room tidy, but our feet were filthy by the end of the day. I suspect the Swiffer in the closet is the only thing being used on the floors and it's just pushing the dirt around and not actually cleaning the tile. There was dried food left on many dishes and utensils (I'm guessing previous guests did not wash the dishes before putting them in the dishwasher). Again, these are NOT the owners fault, just issues we ran into. Also the beach equipment is in a closet located outside in the hallway, not in the room. We left two nice-sized body boards in there for people to use and someone had two great beach chairs inside!

The rental process was seamless and when we asked if we could check in earlier (due to flight arrival) it was accommodated without issue. The property beautiful and the people I. The management office and attached attraction/snorkel rentals were very friendly and Knowles about the best snorkeling spots etc

We loved the location. Central island location allowed for us to travel everywhere we wanted to go in less time. We enjoyed the quietness of the resort. The condo was nice and had a fantastic view!

Sugar beach

We had a great time! The resort is centrally located which made exploring the island easier. The pool and grounds are beautifully maintained. My only complaint is the floor of the condo needed to be mopped. My feet got filthy even with our constant sweeping.
