HHI is a beautiful, relaxing, low key family vacation place. There’s no amusement parks and wild parties. But you have biking, kayaking, crabbing, fishing, miniature golf, tennis, golf and the beach. The weather is always nice and warm and the water is calm and warm in the summer. At Hilton Head Beach & Tennis Resort, the beach is wide and the sand is fine and clean. Biking, playing ball, flying kite, walking, fishing, reading and sitting are some activities you will find on the beach. The spacious sand is your canvas or castle as you wish. Heading west from condo about a mile, you will get to a narrow, shallow break in the sand where ocean connects with marsh. You will see wildlife and adventurous persons catching crabs with net. There are many bike trails, bike lanes are built into most roads especially along major arteries. There is onsite bike rental at the resort. If you contact them ahead of time, the bikes will be waiting for you. Guided kayaking, singles or doubles, on the bayside at Shelter Cove offers a fun, healthy family activity.
Also, costs of everything are very reasonable at HHI. Of all the beach towns, we found HHI to be unique in that there are many great dining places at reasonable costs. We seldom cook when we are in town. There are onsite restaurants at the resort that will even deliver to your condo. There is even a bar/restaurant/ice-cream shop next to the pool and steps from my condo. Some of our favorite restaurants are Poseidon, Sea Shack, waterfront dining at Old Oyster Factory, Marleys, Giuseppi's Pizza and Smokehouse Barbeque. Jim and Nick's Barbeque and Sigler's in Bluffton are good places to stop on your way into HHI or when you go shopping on the mainland.
HHI has all the familiar shops and grocery stores. Finding these places can be a challenge because no commercial signs can be higher than the trees and they are often hidden by the trees. Besides unique shops at HHI, you can find your Sam’s, Walmart and Belk.
