Thanks Barry! While we are happy to hear you enjoyed your stay overall and had a wonderful time at the resort, we're so sorry to hear your partner got sick during your stay. That is certainly not something you expect when you go on vacation, and no fun to be stuck in the room. Hopefully, your partner felt better, and you were able to enjoy the rest of the trip! We certainly understand how stressful and disappointing unexpected travel complications can be. To clarify the timeline, we received a request to change the reservation dates two days prior to arrival, followed by a refund request on the day of check-in. After that time, we did not receive any further communication regarding the reservation or the stay itself. In response to these concerns, we contacted Marriott directly to confirm whether the resort was affected during that period. Marriott advised that the storms and emergency conditions were impacting another side of the island and that the resort itself remained operational throughout the reservation dates. Guests were not required to evacuate or leave the property due to unsafe conditions. While some travelers may have adjusted plans due to delayed or changed flights, Marriott confirmed this did not affect the resort’s ability to accommodate guests. As outlined in the rental agreement attached to and signed at the time of booking, timeshare reservations are non-refundable due to the nature of these bookings. While we sincerely sympathize with the circumstances surrounding your trip, we are required to follow the terms agreed upon at the time the reservation was confirmed. In addition to the cancellation policy, we always highly recommend that guests purchase travel insurance to protect their vacation investment in the event of unexpected weather, travel interruptions, medical emergencies, or other unforeseen circumstances. VRBO does offer travel protection options during the booking process for this purpose. Again, we truly regret that your travel experience did not go as planned and are sorry for the frustration and disappointment this situation caused.
