Set right next door to Cape Canaveral on Florida's "Space Coast", Cocoa Beach is the perfect place to go for a stratospheric vacation. Cape Canaveral Air Force Station is synonymous with space exploration, and while much of the base is still off-limits, if you want to find out all about the incredible missions that have taken off from here, then you could pay a visit to the neighboring Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex—a half-hour drive from Cocoa Beach. You can tour the original launch sites, and learn more about the space race and the astronauts who took part in it.
Surf's up at Cocoa Beach

Apart from its history of space exploration, Cocoa Beach is also well known for having some of the best surf breaks on this stretch of the coast. Turn back the clock with Cocoa Beach museums
If you're wanting to stay out of the sun for a few hours, there are also some museums that you can explore from your Cocoa Beach rental condo. The Dinosaur Store has an on-site museum where you can discover all sorts of things about these awesome prehistoric animals, as well as a huge shop selling fossils and other minerals. There's also a section with live reptile exhibits where you can see real-life Florida 'gators. Fans of the big breaks might also want to check out the Florida Surf Museum, which follows the history and development of the sport, while those with an interest in military history could check out the vintage aircraft at the Valiant Air Command Warbird Museum.
Fishing for your dinner off the pier
One of the central attractions in Cocoa Beach is Westgate Cocoa Beach Pier. At 800 feet long, it's where you can browse the shops, kick back with a cocktail right, or enjoy some fresh seafood at one of the local restaurants. And if you want to source that seafood for yourself, you can even rent some fishing gear and cast your line out into the Atlantic. Cocoa Beach is also home to some great parks, including Lori Wilson Park, which has pavilions and a nature boardwalk. There are also hammocks out in the dunes, and year-round lifeguards to keep you safe if you venture into the water.
