Location: Uzes, Languedoc-Roussillon, France, Europe (Just a five-minute walk from the historic center of Uzes) View Map

Accommodations:  Villa, 3 Bedrooms + No additional sleeping rooms avail, 2 Baths (Sleeps 6)

Keywords:  Villa

This light and airy three-bedroom, two-bathroom, fully equipped, provencal villa, just five minutes on foot from the centre of medieval Uzes, offers you all the convenience of a town apartment PLUS a 120 square-meters Mediterranean garden with two terraces and barbecue, an enclosed 'terrace Tropezienne' (solarium, or sun-terrace) on the first floor, and an attached, lockable, garage with an additional parking space all within a quiet and secure, gated, residential environment.

Sunbathe or chill out with a glass of wine in the intimacy of the upstairs sun-terrace, outdo Rick Stein or Jamie Oliver in the well equipped kitchen, dine outside on the sheltered garden terraces or inside, relax with a good book, a CD or DVD (or UK Freeview satellite TV) in the comfortably furnished living area, or simply visit the many and varied restaurants and cafes of Uzes and safely stroll back to the villa for a quiet night's sleep in large comfortable beds: no need to worry if sharing that bottle of wine has put you over the legal limit for driving!

In just a minute after walking out of the villa up the chemin du Paradis, you will find yourselves in the narrow, twisting streets of Uzes, an extraordinarily beautiful medieval town in Provence, Gard, set in a region of verdant valleys rimmed by ribs of arid, rocky garrigue, between the sea and the Cevennes mountains. The villa is no more than five minutes' walk from restaurants, patisseries, boulangeries, cafes, small supermarkets, and the town's famous arcaded square, the Place aux Herbes, scene of the renowned Saturday and Wednesday provencal market.

Despite its central location, you can also walk out and into vineyards and fields where you can wander along the paths, or you can descend into the craggy gorge of the Eure valley and walk along its refreshing rushing river. There you will discover the spring which was the source of water for thirsty Roman Nimes, flowing via the famous aqueduct that crosses the spectacular Pont du Gard.

3 weeks in Uzes

Guest: Valerie (Gloucestershire, England.)
Date of Stay: 08/13/11 Review Submitted: 09/05/11

We have just returned home from 3 lovely weeks in Uzes. The weather has been superb! The property met and exceeded our expections and the details given are accurate. The house has been thoughtfully furnished and equipped and was spotlessly clean. The cleaning that was carried out on each Saturday of our stay was done to a very high standard. We spent 2 of the weeks as just a couple and 1 week with our daughter and son in law and their 2 children aged 5 and 8. The house easily accommodated us all. We have visited the area before on several occasions. It offers lots to do and see. We had a lovely day at the summer beach at the Pont du Gard, enjoyed visiting beautiful Avignon once again, drove to Gigondas - a beautiful drive - we ate out a lot and just enjoyed being in and around Uzes. There are many restaurants in Uzes to suit all pockets and we enjoyed many fo them. We had a very good lunch at the auberge in the square in nearby Lussan. The markets are wonderful and the kitchen was well equipped to encourage us to buy the great variety of produce to eat at the house. The owners were friendly and helpful and we were confident that they would respond immediately if we had encountered any problems. We would certainly recommend this property and would go again ourselves if we were returning to Uzes.

A great place to stay

Date of Stay: 10/02/10 Review Submitted: 11/06/10

An excellent property with everything required for a terrific stay. The owners met us and explained how everything in the house worked. The location was just a short walk from the old town and close to bakeries, supermarket and numerous restaurants. Uzes is also central to many of the other attractions in the area
