GOOD HAVEN HOUSE

You'll find our well-loved family beach house casually furnished in comfortable 'Shabby-chic', 'Country-Living' cottage style. Relax and enjoy yourself - nothing is fussy or precious. Soothing colors, abundant warm sunshine, cooling breezes and life on the water close to nature are what this house is all about.
You'll also find many amenities in our home that you won't find in other vacation homes because we and our friends actually stay here as often as possible!
Our favorites include:
Family games, beach towels, sun hats, books, DVDs, cookbooks, tons of kitchen equipment to prepare and serve big meals, charcoal grill, and beach toys are all here for you to use and enjoy. Big chaise lounges to sun bathe, a shady porch swing, and a cozy chair by the fireplace for you to put your feet up for that very occasional rainy day are also part of the package.
All rooms (except the twin bedroom and the laundry room) have expansive views of Perdido Bay. Eight people can sleep comfortably on one king, one queen, two twin, and two sleeper sofas. Also two twin air mattresses for overnight guests or children.
All bedrooms have ample reading lights and ceiling fans and are comfortable places to curl up in for privacy. The master suite (king-sized bed) has its own private bath and the other two bedrooms share a bath. Both baths have tubs with showers. The master bath has a double bowl vanity.
The dining room table seats six and altogether with two loveseats, a huge coffee table and a big round folding table, we can seat fourteen or more in the open living/dining room indoors. Another eight can sit on the open bay side deck at the round wrought iron table with a big umbrella.
Good Haven House is on the shores of pristine Perdido Bay - about halfway out on Innerarity Point. Sun, swim, fish, crab, and snorkel right from the dock in your own front yard! You can also keep your boat, be it kayak, canoe, shallow draft power boat, raft, or jet ski tied up there as well.
Great outdoor spaces include a big sunny 50 foot x 10 foot deck (walk out from living room and master bedroom), 30 foot x 20 foot screen room, a shady patio area under deck on the bay side with a porch swing to while away hot afternoons, an open outdoor shower to wash off sand and salty water, and a bright balcony off the dining room.
The 60 foot private dock features stairs up to a sun deck with lounge chairs. At the end of the pier is the perfect place to renew and do your morning yoga or relax at the end of another perfect day and watch the sun drop down into Perdido Bay, one of the most spectacular sunsets on the coast! If you're lucky you can also watch the dolphins cruise by looking for their fish dinner.
Catch your own dinner right from the pier. Mullet (if you know how to throw a net), red fish, snapper, and crab are among some of the seafood we've caught out there.
A two acre yard for you to play ball, badminton, barbeque, have picnics, catch frogs, play hide and seek, and climb the old live oak with a good book. The kids can pitch a tent and have the thrill of sleeping out under the stars and being lulled to sleep by the waves lapping at the shore. There's also plenty of room for you to park your RV.
Located about 2 miles from 2 large grocery stores, a hardware store, a bait and tackle shop, 2 gas stations, and several family restaurants, and 3 miles to the beautiful beaches on Perdido Key, we're close enough to be convenient, far enough away for the peaceful serenity you come on vacation for.
Our property is a wonderful place to have your small wedding or as a venue for bridal or baby showers.
We welcome well behaved pets to come on vacation with their owners.

My family had a great vacation experience at the Good Haven House. Although the weather was mainly uncooperative, it was perfect for a small family wedding on the dock on Thursday. The kids went in the water every day. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and we found lots to keep us occupied in the surrounding area. I liked the fact that it was close to everything, including a great restaurant right down the street. We even found a small zoo nearby, and of course, lots of white sand beaches. I would recommend this property to anyone wanting a Florida vacation.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: We are honored to have had your family wedding at Good Haven House! Thank you for the lovely review and we hope to have you and your family join us again soon. -Susan

My husband and I traveled from Michigan to spend the Christmas and New Years holidays at Good Haven House. We had such a wonderful time! The weather was way better than Michigan, and we walked on the beach, golfed, and rode our bikes (we loved the biking trail at Orange Beach!). I think I visited Joe Patty's Fish Market five times and we grilled out often. Good Haven House is very comfortable (including the beds). It is very clean and very cute. We enjoyed sitting on the deck overlooking the Bay and having our cocktails. We also enjoyed biking down to the point and back. Susan was most helpful, answering all our questions very promptly. I highly recommend Good Haven House!Owner response: Thank you Shelley, for the wonderful review. The Orange Beach Backcountry Hiking/Biking trails are truly special. We're lucky to have that natural and wild area preserved so close to Good Haven House. We hope to have you as guests again in 2013. Have a great year!

My husband and I had never taken a family vacation since we started having children 8 years ago. Since then, we've had 5 little ones so it was VERY important that this would be as stress free/low key as possible. I looked all over VRBO, polled friends, etc for the perfect spot... When I found this house, I emailed my husband at work with the link and simply said, "I've found it. It looks perfect." Little did I know how true that statement was. I was a tad concerned that my expectations were set too high - spending a lot of money to rent a place online, sight unseen. I had just watched an news episode where people took pictures of places that were photoshopped, etc. to make the place look better than it was. Rest assured, when we arrived, all fears subsided... This place was even BETTER than I had hoped. SO GOOD, in fact, that we did not leave one time from Sunday to Thursday. We only visited the beach once and went out to eat once because we just wanted to soak in all the peace and quiet. The kids absolutely LOVED it. The neighbors were so kind to let us use their little beach front to enter the water and play in the sand. There were plenty of lawn chairs, boogie boards and a few beach toys for the kids. We left our floaties/water noodles/toys for the next group of kids to enjoy. We caught about 10-12 little fish off the pier and watched the pelicans come and go. We saw dolphins 3 days in a row. On several afternoons, a gorgeous thunderstorm would roll in from across the bay. The sunsets every night were amazing. Regarding the house: The beds were comfy with plenty of pillows/extra linens. LOTS of towels for beach use and bath. The kitchen was well equipped with newer and older baking/cooking items and utensils. The knives were nice and sharp. A HUGE dishwasher made clean-up go fast. The only thing they didn't have was a baby gate for the stairs which was a priority to us because of our smaller ones. We purchased one and donated it (left it in the master BR closet) so others could use it too. The outdoor shower/sprayer hose was SO handy. We kept the majority of the sand out of the house by using that. The deck upstairs is HUGE! The kiddos ate many of their meals out there. And as for Susan, the owner: She's so very prompt and helpful and SO KIND. Makes you feel like you're just an old friend she's known for a long time. Side notes: For kids: Perdido Kids Park is a must! Good seafood restaurant: Triggers (Grouper!). Can't wait to come back!Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: So glad you all were able to relax and enjoy your vacation. We look forward to having you come and stay with us again and again as the kids get older. Thank you so much!

Our stay at Good Haven House met all of our vacation expectations. Great proximity to the beach, shopping, and sight seeing destinations. We invited my parents and my daughter's friend to come along while my son's baseball team played in the Global World Series USSSA Baseball Tournament in nearby Orange Beach, Alabama. We were able relax in the evenings while grilling and sitting on the patio. My family felt at home and very comfortable inside as well. This family vacation really is one to remember. We would highly recommend to our friends and family. Thank you Good Haven House!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This is a fully equipped house for a comfortable stay. Susan is a gracious host who will help with any issues that may develope. The screened-in downstairs area was perfect for our family gathering. The upstairs living area easily accomodated eight of us. The area is quiet and secluded. The water is shallow and I would suggest you bring enough floating type rafts, etc., for everyone. As is common in the hurrican / flooding areas, the living area is on the second floor which means stairs to climb if you have a mobility problem.Recommended for: Pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

About the owner: We purchased our beach house with the hopes of retiring here one day. In the meantime, our family and friends visit as often as we can. We are happy to be able to share our vacation home with you. Our hope is to have you and your family stay here and enjoy it as much as we do. Relax, spend quality time with the people who mean the most to you and make great memories at Good Haven House. Thanks, Susan and Peter
Why the Owner Chose Private Homes, Innerarity Point:
We chose the Perdido area for it's wonderful Southern sensibilities and it's proximity to the pristine, uncrowded, sugar white sand beaches of the Gulf of Mexico. We chose Innerarity Point specifically because it's a 'local' neighborhood. No highrises or traffic here. All of our great neighbors are full time residents.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Nature is all around from the dolphins cruising by the dock to birds, small animals and frogs in the woods. Quiet, the smell of clean air, the gentle lapping of the water, a storm blowing up from the Gulf on a hot summer afternoon, and incredible sunsets over the bay.
