The apartment is beautiful, in a virtually tourist-free location, yet only blocks away from many of Paris' greatest attractions. A gem of the city.

We were so pleased when we arrived in Paris, that the description of the apartment lived up to all of it's claims - it was beautifully decorated, spacious and a joy to spend a week in, it had everything you could want for a holiday and so many little thoughful extras too, like the towelling robes and the DVD's. For a British person, used to British holiday homes and their lack of facilities, this was quite an eye opener, it was just perfect, a fantastic walk in shower, mood lighting, suede sofa, heaven ! It was difficult to drag ourselves out in the morning.

Well done to Peter for setting such high standards in location and content - we'll definately be letting all our friends and family know about this wonderful place for their trips to Paris - and hopefully he'll expand to other European cities in the future,.. now that would make us happy!

I think everyone who visits and falls in love with Paris imagines themselves living there. Some of us wonder what it would be like to extend that week's stay into a month. Others fantasize of staying long enough to watch the seasons change. For most apartment renters their home away from home will be a surprise when they arrive, so a good choice is vital to a happy stay. Shabby sheik or true antique is often a matter of subjectivity. So when I arranged with Peter Bracke to stay at one of his apartments for the first time I had high hopes . And when I arrived there I was surprised and delighted to find myself truly at home in a beautiful Paris apartment of the highest quality contemporary furnishings. Not the average rental apartment. Truly a home of the highest quality in Paris

The intrepid Bear on the observation deck of the Eiffel Tower.

VRBO Bear stayed here - 07/21/2003 My first thought coming through the front door of this elegant Paris loft was "il est merveilleux!" - it's wonderful! This was just what a wandering bear and his traveling companion wanted after a long flight over the 'big pond'. It's apparent that great care was taken in designing and furnishing this apartment. It's beautifully decorated and has been featured in a book about small apartments and a television special about vacation rentals.

Although this apartment is quite compact, it has all the features needed for a wonderful stay. There is a state-of-the-art entertainment system complete with a large selection of DVDs and CDs for your pleasure. Many of the CDs feature French entertainers and there are many jazz selections, some recorded in local clubs. Several of the movies were filmed in Paris, making it interesting to visit an attraction during the day, then see it on the 'big screen' that evening.

The location couldn't be more ideal. The Montmartre district of Paris is a fascinating collection of galleries, restaurants, jazz clubs, shops, and residences, all crowned by the Sacre Coeur Basilica high on a hill overlooking the entire city. The loft is a short walk from the Gare du Nord train station and 2-3 blocks from two different Metro stations. You definitely won't need a car if you intend to spend your time in the city. It's a short Metro ride to sights like Le Louvre, the Tour du Eiffel, Notre Dame, and Versailles.

Our hosts, Peter and Rita were wonderful to deal with and provided guidebooks and maps to make my walks around the city that much easier. Merci beaucoup to them for their generosity and assistance. Au revoir!

Signed, VRBO Bear

    • Booking the apartement with Peter was very easy because he is so friendly and available in finding the best solutions for your needs. He provides you with clear and detailed informations. The apartement is really nice and comfortable and well furnished (there were five of us and there was plenty of room), ideal for people with an artistic attitude. Needless to say that you're just in the center of Paris (Montmartre), ready to go out and sightseeing Paris. Next time we come to Paris we know where we will going to stay. • Working with Peter was easy: he was friendly and very quick to get back to us with any questions and concerns we had. The loft was equipped with plenty of food and supplies, which was helpful, and replacing them was no problem. Dealing with someone you can trust like Peter is priceless in a foreign country. The loft is close to stores, shops, and the metro. The loft was high quality in a good area to see Paris from - Thanks Peter!

    • My wife and I spend a magnificent week this month in this apartment. It was really our 2nd home away from home. As a new parent we thought it maybe difficult to fined every thing we need in short term rental apartment but instead of that every we brought was already there and ready to use. I would recommend this apartment for every one want to spend a pleasure romantic stay in Paris.

    • We stayed in Peter's apartment the first week of July. It was spacious, bright and very clean and included all the amenities to make one's stay in Paris comfortable and memeorable. The guidebooks on Paris, including metro guides and maps were a very thoughtful gesture. Loved the adjustable bed - the extra switches near the bed to raise and lower the blinds and to turn off lights was very convenient. The kitchen and fridge were well-stocked - juice, still and sparkling water, pop, wine, champagne, coffee even martini shakers were all at hand! Other nice touches were the original art, the coffee-maker(loved it), the Bang & Olufsen music system! The bathroom was very clean - never ran out of hot water and the jets in the shower were a nice touch! The bathroom was well-stocked too, if you forgot to bring your own! The apartment was conveniently located - just a few minutes to metro - Anvers, walking distance to Montmartre and to Galleries Lafayette. Peter was especially helpful in answering any questions via email even before we began our trip. His list of restaurants with his comments was very helpful. For a quick, cheap but tasty meal, try the turkish kebab platter just nextdoor. Three thumbs up for a chic apartment with all the amenities and very conveniently located too. Would definitely recommend this place and next time, hopefully will try out the luxury loft. Great job, Peter!

    • The loft was great. My wife and I visited in late June; the courtyard was under construction, so a little noisy in the morning -- but the apartment was like an oasis, still, at night. Lots of action, all night, within walking distance -- but the apartment is insulated from all that by the rest of the building and opens onto the inner courtyard. Great bakeries and fruits and vegetable grocers. Easy to walk out in the morning, down rue de Dunquerque, and grab a fresh baked croissant and a pain du chocolat to bring back to the loft for breakfast. And easy Metro access to the whole city. The apartment is like a ship, with space mazimized. Peter's got a great collection of jazz and Prog Rock CDs, too ... If you're planning on cooking, be aware that there's a 2-burner stove, but no oven. The bathroom is the most impressive -- all tile, and ingenious construction. The bed is also quite cozy. All in all, a bonus to live like locals, and not have to deal with the tourbus throngs until you darn well please. Thanks!

      Homeowner Response:
Thanks Rich, There is a micro-wave oven however and on demand we put a combo-oven at no extra costs - but thanks for your feed-back

    • My best friend and I stayed in the Romantic apartment for 8 days and 7 nights. Even though Peter has titled it Romantic the apartment is perfect for anyone to stay in! We enjoyed "living" as a Parisian for a week and the location couldn't have been more perfect - the whole trip was fantastic! The apartment was beautiful, comfortable, and had all of the conveniences of home! Peter was a joy to deal with and handled all of our numerous questions patiently and quickly. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this apartment to anyone!

    • We found this studio spacious enough for a family of five and adequately equipped and definitely peaceful, as the advert says. We spent a lot of our time exploring Paris on foot and the situation makes this easily possible. The sofa was comfortable at the end of a long day and the shower as invigorating as you wanted to make it in the mornings - really a little home from home. Paris is a terrific city and this studio a great base to discover it from - give it a try.

    • I have been remiss in adding my comments, but I wanted to right that wrong now. Firstly, Peter is a joy to deal with, very helpful, informative and friendly, always ready with recommendations and open with his own personal information. Secondly, the apartment, hidden behind a big blue door, is just as we had hoped: light and clean, designed simply and beautifully, and spacious yet well-appointed. Each morning, we walked to the boulangerie and then to the cheese monger. In the afternoon we visited the wine shop down the street where we made fast friends with the proprietor. Cafe Julienne is a wonderful family bistro with the best steak tartare and a house rose that was crisp and refreshing. At night, after a day of pretending that we lived here, we would pour ourselves into the comfortable bed and dream in the rare Parisian air coming through the windows. This is the way to do it. We'll never go back to hotels and we'll certainly be back to Peter's place.

Super aanrader! Ik kom zeker terug! Hartelijk bedankt! Selene

    • Our family rented both the Feng-shui and the Romantic this summer for a too short vacation. They are simply and exquisitely done. Peter's flair for interiors is amazing! We've found our place in Paris. My hubby and I will absolutely be back, alone this time ... and rent the romantic. Can't wait!!!
