The intrepid Bear on the observation deck of the Eiffel Tower.

VRBO Bear stayed here - 07/21/2003 My first thought coming through the front door of this elegant Paris loft was "il est merveilleux!" - it's wonderful! This was just what a wandering bear and his traveling companion wanted after a long flight over the 'big pond'. It's apparent that great care was taken in designing and furnishing this apartment. It's beautifully decorated and has been featured in a book about small apartments and a television special about vacation rentals.

Although this apartment is quite compact, it has all the features needed for a wonderful stay. There is a state-of-the-art entertainment system complete with a large selection of DVDs and CDs for your pleasure. Many of the CDs feature French entertainers and there are many jazz selections, some recorded in local clubs. Several of the movies were filmed in Paris, making it interesting to visit an attraction during the day, then see it on the 'big screen' that evening.

The location couldn't be more ideal. The Montmartre district of Paris is a fascinating collection of galleries, restaurants, jazz clubs, shops, and residences, all crowned by the Sacre Coeur Basilica high on a hill overlooking the entire city. The loft is a short walk from the Gare du Nord train station and 2-3 blocks from two different Metro stations. You definitely won't need a car if you intend to spend your time in the city. It's a short Metro ride to sights like Le Louvre, the Tour du Eiffel, Notre Dame, and Versailles.

Our hosts, Peter and Rita were wonderful to deal with and provided guidebooks and maps to make my walks around the city that much easier. Merci beaucoup to them for their generosity and assistance. Au revoir!

Signed, VRBO Bear

Why the Owner Chose Paris Arrondissement 18

We bought this apartment to use it ourselves in the first place. So we looked for an area that was safe, child-friendly and not to touristic. On the other hand it had to be at walking distance to the main attractions like Louvre, Marais, Champs Elysées etc..

My wife and I spend a magnificent week this month in this apartment. It was really our 2nd home away from home. As a new parent we thought it maybe difficult to fined every thing we need in short term rental apartment but instead of that every we brought was already there and ready to use. I would recommend this apartment for every one want to spend a pleasure romantic stay in Paris.

Charming loft in a wonderful neighborhood in Paris

My husband, teenage daughter (age 15), son (age 12) and I stayed in Peter's lovely loft apartment for three days. It is truly beautiful and well-appointed - it lives up to its listing. The neighborhood is wonderful, with plenty of restaurants, a bakery, a market, a park, metro station and a laundry washing facility (very necessary with children!) within easy walking distance of the apartment. It was our first visit to Paris and we loved having our home away from home - Peter and Mme Esteves made everything so easy! I will definitely stay here again and have already recommended it to several of my friends who are traveling to Paris in the fall.

Fantastic week in Paris

My husband, niece and I stayed in the Romantic Loft apartment for five nights. It was wonderful. We couldn't believe how close it was to everything - supermarkets, the metro, Montemarte, Sacre Couer and a host of great little cafes, delis and restaurants. The owners are incredibly friendly and we were met by the wonderful housekeeper late at night, because we got a late flight. The apartment was central to everything, the shower amazing and it was a perfect place for the three of us to stay. We loved the selection of DVD's and books, the available food and beverage items in the fridge and the light and quietness of the apartment. It was like a little sanctuary in the heart of the city! It was a perfect base to explore everything from and we walked to the Louvre and could easily catch a bus to the Eiffel Tower. We had a fantastic time. Thank you.

Trés romantique

The Romantic suite really is just that. The colour scheme is soft and elegant, it is spacious and airy and because of the clever design, everything can be neatly packed away leaving you to enjoy a zen-like feel. If only I'd had shared it with a lover! I was here with girlfriends and, I must say (shameless, as it is Paris after all) we had our own big night instead of going out - we drank champagne and danced around the fantastic space. I think the stereo system was most probably better than most of the sound systems in clubs! And the music selection - very cool indeed. The location is perfect - close to Sacre Coeur, Moulin Rouge and has easy access to all the tourist points in Paris via the metro system (5 minute walks to Anver and Barbes-Rochechouart and 10 minutes to Cadet). The apartment was perfectly clean and had all the mod cons which were easy to use. Bieke, the manager was so personable and helpful - her English perfect - a big plus in Paris! I will certainly be looking to visit here again next time I'm in Paris - hopefully I shall bring a gentleman friend!

What an island of tranquility in the midst of Paris! Spacious, light and warm (we were there in winter!) it was heaven to retreat to after a hectic day on the metro around Paris. There was a great supermarket down the road to the right, and a boulangerie with great croissants. Two metro lines took us wherever we wanted to go and there were plenty of great guides in the apartment. As an artist I loved the painting there, it radiated peacefulness! I can wholeheartedly recommend the loft to any discerning traveller as the ideal place to stay in Paris! Many many thanks Peter & Rita ...we loved it.

'Romantic' Days in Paris

Guest: Mieke Cleiren (Belgium)
Date of Stay: 07/30/10 Review Submitted: 08/12/10

The moment we entered the room, we knew that this weekend in Paris would be perfect! We immediately felt the cozy atmosphere in the ‘Romantic Studio-Loft’. The kitchen is practical and we were pleasantly surprised that there was a dishwasher! The design of the furniture is modern and the wooden construction of the bed and kitchen table gave us a holiday feeling. The spotlights, hifi-system and DVD player create a nice atmosphere in the loft which makes you to feel like home after a long day of sightseeing.

Booking the apartement with Peter was very easy because he is so friendly and available in finding the best solutions for your needs. He provides you with clear and detailed informations. The apartement is really nice and comfortable and well furnished (there were five of us and there was plenty of room), ideal for people with an artistic attitude. Needless to say that you're just in the center of Paris (Montmartre), ready to go out and sightseeing Paris. Next time we come to Paris we know where we will going to stay. Working with Peter was easy: he was friendly and very quick to get back to us with any questions and concerns we had. The loft was equipped with plenty of food and supplies, which was helpful, and replacing them was no problem. Dealing with someone you can trust like Peter is priceless in a foreign country. The loft is close to stores, shops, and the metro. The loft was high quality in a good area to see Paris from - Thanks Peter!

We stayed in Peter's apartment the first week of July. It was spacious, bright and very clean and included all the amenities to make one's stay in Paris comfortable and memeorable. The guidebooks on Paris, including metro guides and maps were a very thoughtful gesture. Loved the adjustable bed - the extra switches near the bed to raise and lower the blinds and to turn off lights was very convenient. The kitchen and fridge were well-stocked - juice, still and sparkling water, pop, wine, champagne, coffee even martini shakers were all at hand! Other nice touches were the original art, the coffee-maker(loved it), the Bang & Olufsen music system! The bathroom was very clean - never ran out of hot water and the jets in the shower were a nice touch! The bathroom was well-stocked too, if you forgot to bring your own! The apartment was conveniently located - just a few minutes to metro - Anvers, walking distance to Montmartre and to Galleries Lafayette. Peter was especially helpful in answering any questions via email even before we began our trip. His list of restaurants with his comments was very helpful. For a quick, cheap but tasty meal, try the turkish kebab platter just nextdoor. Three thumbs up for a chic apartment with all the amenities and very conveniently located too. Would definitely recommend this place and next time, hopefully will try out the luxury loft. Great job, Peter!

The loft was great. My wife and I visited in late June; the courtyard was under construction, so a little noisy in the morning -- but the apartment was like an oasis, still, at night. Lots of action, all night, within walking distance -- but the apartment is insulated from all that by the rest of the building and opens onto the inner courtyard. Great bakeries and fruits and vegetable grocers. Easy to walk out in the morning, down rue de Dunquerque, and grab a fresh baked croissant and a pain du chocolat to bring back to the loft for breakfast. And easy Metro access to the whole city. The apartment is like a ship, with space mazimized. Peter's got a great collection of jazz and Prog Rock CDs, too ... If you're planning on cooking, be aware that there's a 2-burner stove, but no oven. The bathroom is the most impressive -- all tile, and ingenious construction. The bed is also quite cozy. All in all, a bonus to live like locals, and not have to deal with the tourbus throngs until you darn well please. Thanks!

Owner response:Thanks Rich, There is a micro-wave oven however and on demand we put a combo-oven at no extra costs - but thanks for your feed-back
