My first thought coming through the front door of this elegant Paris loft was "il est merveilleux!" - it's wonderful! This was just what a wandering bear and his traveling companion wanted after a long flight over the 'big pond'. It's apparent that great care was taken in designing and furnishing this apartment. It's beautifully decorated and has been featured in a book about small apartments and a television special about vacation rentals.
Although this apartment is quite compact, it has all the features needed for a wonderful stay. There is a state-of-the-art entertainment system complete with a large selection of DVDs and CDs for your pleasure. Many of the CDs feature French entertainers and there are many jazz selections, some recorded in local clubs. Several of the movies were filmed in Paris, making it interesting to visit an attraction during the day, then see it on the 'big screen' that evening.
The location couldn't be more ideal. The Montmartre district of Paris is a fascinating collection of galleries, restaurants, jazz clubs, shops, and residences, all crowned by the Sacre Coeur Basilica high on a hill overlooking the entire city. The loft is a short walk from the Gare du Nord train station and 2-3 blocks from two different Metro stations. You definitely won't need a car if you intend to spend your time in the city. It's a short Metro ride to sights like Le Louvre, the Tour du Eiffel, Notre Dame, and Versailles.
Our hosts, Peter and Rita were wonderful to deal with and provided guidebooks and maps to make my walks around the city that much easier. Merci beaucoup to them for their generosity and assistance. Au revoir!
Signed, VRBO Bear

Really well equipped, comfortable, and very well situated apartment in Paris. Owner is very helpful, thoughtful, and has a beautiful sense of design. I would like to make this my home away from home when in Paris. Great shops very near by, and one of the best coffee shops in Paris (Kooka Boora), along with an excellent market and shops all around. Close to transportation, quite flat overlooking a courtyard, really comfortable bed and bedding, with a good fast internet connection. Really made the trip to Paris even better... Professional owner, good dealing with him on payment, refund, and information, as well as cleaning and access. Great flat...Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway.

My husband and I had a fabulous 6 day stay in the studio. Everything you need is within a short walk (cafes, creamery, fresh bread even a large supermarket). The Sacre Coeur is just up the hill from the studio and a nice place for a view or a sunset. The studio itself is quiet and nicely appointed. The bed is extremely comfortable, the shower wonderful and having movies to watch in English was a treat and a nice way to relax between afternoon and evening activities. The stereo system is nice and there are many CDs to choose from. The studio also had several books on Paris and a list of restaurant recommendations which we found helpful. We also loved the metal shutters that could be closed to keep out the morning light on days that we wanted to sleep in. We cooked daily and although the kitchen has no oven or toaster and limited dishware it worked fine for our party of 2. We took the train from Nice and with a quick transfer easily arrived at the Gare Du Nord station which is a 10 minute walk from the studio. There are several metro stations and bus lines that run near the studio making visiting the city's attractions via public transportation simple. I'd recommend purchasing the Visite Paris pass which gives you unlimited access to public transportation for a set number of days. The couch wasn't great. The cushions slide down and you're on the ground pretty quickly so we opened it into the bed position and used it that way. The bar stools are too high for comfortable eating at the bar but those are the only negatives and neither was a deal breaker. All in all it was a wonderful stay and Peter was very pleasant to deal with. We would definitely stay again the next time we visit Paris.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

This apartment was well appointed and comfortable - even for a family of five with teenage children. It was close to the Metro, and an easy walk to cafes and restaurants. A fantastic grocery store was one block away, providing a cheap and easy way of stocking up on provisions. Staying here was a great way to visit the main attractions of Paris while also experiencing the more leisurely pace of the Montmartre district. The area felt safe enough to walk around at night. For a longer stay, the apartment included a great selection of DVDs and CDs, as well as an eclectic library of books. We greatly appreciated the smooth and efficient booking process with Peter. We look forward to returning again in the near future.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.

This apartment was perfect for our family of four. Our kids (ages 10 and 13) loved it. In the pictures it looks like small pads on the floors, but they are actuallythick mattresses built into the raised floor. The sofa pulled out into a bed and was very comfortable. The apartment was very quiet as it looked out into a pretty courtyard. Everything was immaculate. The neighborhood was a very short walk to metro stops, Garre Du Nord, Sacre Coeur, several restaurants, a laundromat, two big grocery stores, and a playground. The owner was extremely helpful and took his time to answer several questions and provide multiple suggestions, including a shuttle service to the airport. I highly recommend this apartment and will definitely try to stay here again the next time we go to Paris.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thanks Jill, Try to tempt us for a home-exchange next time - we have Maryland on our list. Peter

This apartment is located in a very nice area of Paris, close to the Metro lines and great restaurants. It is good, if there are only two people as the sofa sleeper in the living room is very uncomfortable and lacks privacy. The apartment itself is one large room with windows that open to a large garden. They do have a very good stereo system but the TV we could never figure out and there were no instructions left that we could read to get it working. Dishes were lacking and the bar stools were too tall for the counter. Very often we would sit on the sofa sleeper to eat dinner as there were no chairs to sit on. We felt the apartment was over priced. The owner Peter is very nice man and I liked him very much.Owner response: I was on vacation while Tiffany stayed in the apartment. She was without tv for 24 hours as my brother-in-law fixed the settings the next day.

This lovely apartment - very spacious for Paris! - was perfect for my 2 week stay. There were 3 of us there for the first week and the pull out couch was surprisingly comfortable (as was the roomy bed where I slept once my company had left!). Mme Esteves who met us with the keys was so pleasant and lovely - as were two of the neighbours in the building who helped us to find the correct corridor for the apartment! I only wish I had paid more attention during my French lessons... The apartment was a lovely and extremely quiet retreat after long days of sight seeing. And Peter's CD collection (and amazing sound system) were a very pleasant addition. Nicely situated to Sacre Cour - the views from up the Dome are tres fantastique! Some fabulous restaurants and bars around the corner. Several Metro stations close by - I found that I preferred Anvers or Gare du Nord as they felt the safest to walk from there alone at night. Thank you Peter for keeping such a lovely space open for rent!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

Listing was accurate. The apartment is one big room so it is best for a single or a couple. Since the apt. looks out on a small garden courtyard there is no street noise The apt. is bright, modern & sunny. The automatic metal shutters cut out all light when you want to sleep There are no regular chairs in the apt., just high bar stools, squishy sofa, and hard platform seating. There were drinks in the fridge for you to use & replace. There is a Carrefour supermarket half-way down the block and a laundromat a block in the other direction. The apt. is convenient to Anvers and Barbes-Rochecouart Metro stations and a 10 minute walk from Gare du Nord. The apt. is up 2 levels and there is no elevator so pack lightly. The cleaning lady helped me with the luggage but she is smaller than I am.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

My husband, teenage daughter (age 15), son (age 12) and I stayed in Peter's lovely loft apartment for three days. It is truly beautiful and well-appointed - it lives up to its listing. The neighborhood is wonderful, with plenty of restaurants, a bakery, a market, a park, metro station and a laundry washing facility (very necessary with children!) within easy walking distance of the apartment. It was our first visit to Paris and we loved having our home away from home - Peter and Mme Esteves made everything so easy! I will definitely stay here again and have already recommended it to several of my friends who are traveling to Paris in the fall.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Why the Owner Chose Paris Arrondissement 18:
We bought this apartment to use it ourselves in the first place. So we looked for an area that was safe, child-friendly and not to touristic. On the other hand it had to be at walking distance to the main attractions like Louvre, Marais, Champs Elysées etc..
