Salmon Run Beach Getaway - No Bank Waterfront!

Great location and very comfortable.

We really enjoyed our stay at SRBG. The house was very clean, comfortable and well equipped, with lovely views from the deck. Our children loved the beach and playing with the toys which were available and also watching the Disney videos. The house is in a great location on Whidbey Island, close to the Port Townsend ferry, Oak Harbour and Freeland. The owners were really helpful and gave us lots of useful tips on places to visit before we arrived. We had a really relaxing vaction and hope to return sometime!

A great kick back and relax destination

This place is among other cabins but in my experience most of them are empty most of the time. It is quiet and there is several miles of beach to wander on. The title is appropriate as I fish for salmon just outside the front door. If you don't have gear and want to try it the local shops can fix you up with a license and gear for under $100. The cabin is just right for environment. Perfectly clean with better modern amenities than I have in my home yet comfortable enough that you don't feel like you have to take your shoes off when entering. The owners are 100% reliable and organized. There is a note or open book of instructions discretely available virtually everywhere. The town of Coupeville, a few miles away, is a quaint seaside touristy desination. There are a number of good eateries but one outstanding restaurant, The Oyster Catcher, that is quite good. (If you bring your own bottle of wine, as we like to do, please leave a handsome corkage fee-they are not consistent about asking for it.) We have been going to this cabin for about 10 years I guess and plan on continuing for many more years. We travel a lot and stay at nice places. This place gets our top vote for delivering exactly on the promise. Enjoy.

Almost Like Home

We have been to Salmon Run Beach Getaway at least four times over the past several years and always try to plan one stay there every year. It is hard to beat this vacation rental! The price is right and the setting is totally perfect. This cozy house is on Puget Sound, looking across to the Olympic Mountains. Sunsets are spectacular and the sight of the sun shining on the Olympics as it rises is also really memorable. We don't fish, but from the photos in the house, it's easy to see that salmon fishing in season is great here. The house itself is small but lacks for nothing. The owners maintain the house like few we have stayed in. It's a totally relaxing place, close to Coupeville and not a far drive to the shops on the other side of the island. You won't be disappointed if you come to stay at Salmon Run!

Great Getaway

We stayed at Salmon Run Beach Getaway two summers in a row and had a blast both times. The house is equipped with everything you need for your vacation. It's clean, comfortable, and ready for relaxation! You can tell this house is very much loved by the owners and you will be sure to leave this house wishing to come back again. The view from this house is incredible and you can spend hours looking at the straight, passing ships, the Olympics, eagles, etc. On sunny days you can try your hands on fishing (my 8 yr old nephew caught a salmon in front of the house) or sunbathing on the beach. The area is surrounded by many sites to enjoy - State parks, farmers markets (during summer months), shops, restaurants, bikikng/hiking trails, etc. There is so much history in this area and it's fun to visit some historical sites as well. In the recent years, there have been more wineries on the island and they are all within 1/2-hour from this getaway. This getaway is definitely a gem on the island!

My Favorite Whidbey Retreat

Guest: Kathy (Seattle)
Date of Stay: 08/30/10 Review Submitted: 09/29/10

Coupeville, Whidbey Island is my favorite getaway place to go, and Salmon Run is my favorite place to stay. I can be busy every day, touring the island and all it has to offer and enjoy the cabin at night or be perfectly happy to stay at the cabin all day, walking the beach, collecting shells and rocks, watching the sea life, ships, reading a good book, enjoying the sun from the deck or a storm from behind the floor to ceiling windows with the fireplace to keep me warm. The kitchen has all the amenities that you will need to prepare a great seafood meal or pop some popcorn for the movie you will slip into the DVD player. The home is always immaculate. The owners take great pride in making sure that the place is always clean and welcoming. Sandy can tell you anything you want to know about the island and all there is to do while you are there. The kids will love building forts out of driftwood on the beach. Bike riding and kayaking are great fun. Bike down to the ferry and take a ride over to Port Townsend for the day. What fun. I will definitely keep coming back and hope that you all enjoy it as much as I doo every time I am there. KT

this is a perfectly located, wonderfully furnished, quiet and peaceful waterfront with Southern exposure looking onto Admiralty Bay with a shipping lane and water traffic and salmon in season(Fall) right at the cabin--great place to get-away on Whidbey Island by ferry or over Deception Pass
