We were looking to do a waterpark mini-vacation with the kids during spring break and wanted to avoid the traffic associated with a slog down 95 from DC to Great W*lf L*dge. The waterpark at Massanutten proved to be just the ticket. This rental house was perfectly located about 1 minute's drive from the waterpark (you can actually see the top of the waterpark roof from the deck). We had a great time. The house was all we needed it to be. Well, with the exception of no internet access, and bare bones TV/cable for the kids (ie., no Nickelodeon, Disney Channel, etc.) Still, I highly recommend this home if you're looking to poke around the McGaheysville area on or off-season! We also did some hiking, go-carting, zip-lining and all that over at the main Massanutten resort. Oh, and we also were able to bring our dog along, which was a big plus for us. All in all, this was an accommodating and very pleasant rental house!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

While this is not a luxury home, it is a very solid home with everything you need for a fun vacation. There was plenty of space and everything worked as it should. My 7 year old said several times that he wanted us to move there! The house has a flat driveway (I didn't think was a big deal until I drove through the neighborhood) and is about half a mile from the waterpark and about 4 miles from the slopes. I would be happy to stay here again!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, pet owners, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

The house has lots of great cooking utensils which helped for us to celebrate Christmas. There is a washer and dryer which is always welcomed. The door to the screened porch doesn't lock nor does the sliding door from the porch to the house. So that was kind of strange to know that anyone who knows about this can come and go as they please (i.e. anyone who has rented ths home before us!) All of the smoke detectors were either missing or disabled. I never saw a fire extinguisher. The furnishings were extremely basic, although the couches were comfortable. The mattresses are very hard and lumpy. The rug on the lower level smelled horrible and had animal urine smells. The pool table is nice. The dart board has no darts to play with. We did have some snow and I had to call to get the driveway and deck shoveled even though the people that came to shovel had already been in the cul-de-sac clearing another propoerty. Initially I was asked if it could wait because it was icey. When I said no they did come to clean the driveway and deck within 10 minutes. We did have some new towels, although they were all put in one bathroom, but that worked out once we found out where the towels were! The other towels and washclotes were well worn. Will I consider renting this home again, probably not. It is a bonus that they allow one adult dog.Recommended for: Pet owners.

My wife and I had short notice for needed R&R. We were delighted with the quick response and the excellent price for this cottage located close to the resort. My request was answered the same day and the owner went out of his way to provide lodging for our short visit. The manager arranged for our arrival and all went smoothly. We felt the owner provided all the amenities we needed. We were pleased with the lower level for entertainment. The cottage was clean and we did not have any problems. The only reason I did not give this cottage five stars is that the linens are a little older, but very clean. Thank you for allowing us to enjoy your home for the weekend.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

I wish I could write a different review, numerous problems, contacted the person in charge and emailed the owner got a few things fixed, but still other ignored. On arrival theses things needed attention Smoke alarm in stairway not functioning, open, no battery At least 7 light bulbs out, including the stairs to the basement Linen, no wash clothes, inadequate number of towels ( poor quality of those there and some stained), 1 hand towel in the kitchen. comforter in main floor bedroom stained, decorative pillow coming apart at seems, bed pillow were old and in poor condition. They did bring us wash clothes, very thin and rough. Ceiling fan in main floor bedroom, could not turn the fan off (was on high) as the chain was pulled off. 1 1/2 rolls of toilet tissue for 3 bathrooms. 3 rolls were brought to us, along with 2 tablets for the dishwasher. We were there for 8 days. Kitchen Water facet leaks at base, there were no trash bags for the kitchen trash container. Had to take out the trash from previous renters on our arrival. Trash container outside was missing it's wheels, had to drag it to the road side. Dresser in main bedroom has broken drawers and closet had shelf with linens just thrown up on it. Deceptive advertising: 50" TV in Basement, no cable connection, pool table too close to walls to be able to play. Living room small TV on a old table, could see the Water Park, but walking route was not "a short walk away". Lots of dust and spider webs on lights, decorations and animal hair on carpet. I could list more things, but I think this gives a good idea of what type of rental property this was. No I would not recommend it to anyone. The owner did send a reply to my email to him, the caretaker did see to getting a few of the items taken care of, but I feel the smoke detector is in violation of fire code, and other problems ignored Massanutten is a beautiful place to visit, it's sad to rent a place that takes away from the pleasure of being there.Owner response: The cleaning company did not have them on their list and that is why all the issues came up The TV downstairs always had cable -- they could not figure out the remote We all try very hard to please renters in our small home as can be seen in all the positive reviews -- and will continue to improve the services -I will continue to monitor the cleaning crew for any issues in the future

Thank you for my stay the discription was accurate. Property was clean and well maintained with the exception of Black ants in the first floor bathroom. The overall stay was great the rooms were just as described. The owner provided good customer service and I would recommend the property to a friend. We did not have access to the pool even though we did not want to swim. We were under the impression we would have access to it with out additional cost. We did have the opportunity to go bowling, hiking, play golf and ride the go carts. We prepared our own food and did visit some restaurants. It was close to shopping all in all we had a great time. We will be back next seasonOwner response: I truely appreciate the time you took to write the review -- I hope you have a great summer regards

This home was very comfortable. We enjoyed our time there. It was very close to the waterpark, skiing and shopping wasnt too far. Could use some extra blankets/comforters to accomadate the coldness of the basement sleeping arrangements. Other than that had a great time and would return!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, families with teenagers, families with young children.

For the price, we couldn't have asked for better accommodations. The house is on a quiet cul-de-sac just two minutes from Rt. 33 and the entrance to the resort. Everything was clean and the kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, etc. - our group does a lot of cooking on our annual weekend trips and this kitchen (and gas grill) did not disappoint. As we had three kids with us (all ages 1-3), we appreciated the fact that the interior layout was an open and modestly decorated - no junky little odds and ends everywhere, as seems to be the case with many rental properties. The property owner was very friendly and responsive by email. "Walking distance" to the Water Park would be stretching it a bit, as it would be quite a hike down there and back. Also, please note that the included pool pass simply allows you into the resort; it's still $5/day per adult to use the pool (not a criticism against the rental property, just something to be aware of). The pool table in the finished basement would have been nice to use, but two of the sides are too close to the walls to be able to play comfortably - and there was a sign on the wall stating that we would lose our security deposit if we moved the table. These are minor quibbles for a five-star rental - I'm docking one star because we were rushed out an hour early before the stated check-out time by the property manager to allow access for the cleaning crew. Overall, we were very pleased and in all likelihood we'll be staying here next year.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you very much in taking the time to do the review -- I understand how busy we all are and I truly appreciate the effort and i will continue to do my best to address your concerns
