Our family had a wonderful and relaxing stay at Husky's Hideaway. The cabin was very cozy and had all the modern conveniences of home like flat screen tvs but still had the rustic feel to it. We really enjoyed using the wood burning stove oven and spent our evenings just gazing at the fire. The hammock in the back was really fun for our children to lay in as well. It was nice that the cabin had a full kitchen. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms were clean. The owner was very prompt in responding to our questions and gave us some ideas of what we could do in the area. The pathways to the creek were a lot steeper than I anticipated, so we had take some caution while trekking down there. The cow-hide rug that was in the main room was "shedding" hair, so that was a bit bothersome for us because we had an infant crawling around the floor. Otherwise, we really enjoyed staying at Husky's and hope to be back again!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

My family and I spend Christmas '11 at this wonderful little gem. What a truly relaxing way to spend the holidays. Our only complaint is that we didn't stay longer! We had a wonderful time. The owners were VERY easy to work with and answered all of our questions. The cabin was tidy and ready for us when we arrived. The deck was stunning! Some amazing sunsets were witnessed by us on the few nights that we had there. Our dog enjoyed running to his hearts content outside. Finding sticks and playing in the water. I have never seen a happier puppy! We can't wait to come back over the summer time.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

My husband and I went on vacation with our two dogs. We arrived at the cabin after five hours of driving and were shocked to see how gorgeous it was. We expected something nice and cozy, which it was, but we did not expect the amazing architecture, the huge deck with an amazing view, a little room on the porch for the dogs, and the seclusion. The cabin was clean, had some books and a few DVDs, had plenty of cooking utensils and pots and pans, and had plenty of towels. We had a good experience contacting the owners as well. In terms of the location of the cabin, it was nice to be set back in the woods, but be close to Berkeley Springs for food and shopping and activities. There was plenty to do near the cabin if we wanted to leave, but it was also such a nice place that we enjoyed sitting on the deck and reading or playing with the dogs a lot of the time. Overall, this was a fantastic experience and we hope to be able to make it back sometime. Thanks!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

My husband,. elderly mother and I spent several days in this charming cabin. This was the first time we travelled with our shelter dog Mimi, and a grand time was had by all. The hosts were very pleasant to deal with and accomodating. We spent restlful nights in the peaceful surroundings, and found easy access to the beautiful, little town of Berkley Springs. The cabin was great for my mother as the twin beds were low, and the shower, essentially a walk-in. There was even a ramp to the front door.We loved sititng on the back deck, surrounded by the beauty of the woods. We learned that Mimi can swim! She absolutely loved running through the woods (we walked.) The cabin had some luxury features without feeling "stuffy" and was comfortable without beeing too rustic. A perfect balance for us! (City folk) Thank you for sharing your home with my familyRecommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Our family loved this quiet getaway! The woods and the creek provided hours of entertainment and exploring for 2 boys and 2 dogs. We used Husky's Hideaway as our launching point to explore the towns and state parks in western Maryland and the West Virginia panhandle. The cabin is well stocked with books, games, comfortable sitting areas, and everything you need in the kitchen. Our week spent here will bring back great memories! We will come back and stay in another season to see the woods again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children.

My husband and I have stayed in many vacation rentals, but this rental was not what we expected. We were warned that there was a bit of a bug problem, but we didn't expect how bad it really was. We went during the summer season. We scheduled to stay for a three day weekend, but ended up leaving a day early. The walk down to the river leads you to an area that is not river accessible. I am not sure if the river was low, or the embankment has changed. We ended up walking further down to a different area (however, we didn't canoe). On a bright note, the owners were reachable and were willing to provide a refund.Owner response: We are sorry that these guests were not satisfied with their stay. There are stinkbugs in WV (along with MD, VA, and PA). The problem started a couple years ago and there is no avoiding it. The cabin is in the woods and everyone will be coming across some, especially at night if any door is left open (they are attracted to the light). Regarding the level of the water, there are TWO access points to Sleepy Creek from the property. The first one (under the arbor and down the steps) is more for wading as the water level is on the lower side most of the year. The second entry point is a lot deeper and wider and ideal for kayaking, swimming, and fishing. We are currently working on marking the trail better so that the short cut is easier to find. However, there has always been a well maintained gravel road for easier access by foot or car. We are very disappointed that these guests were not satisfied--they were given their military discount that they requested prior to booking and were also refunded the unused portion of their stay.

The property is beautiful, equipped and definitely a great choice for someone who wants to really get away from it all. I imagined that I could write a great masterpiece novel if I had a month here with all of the peace and quiet. The view from the huge patio is spectacular and walking during a time when the leaves were beautiful, gave us the feeling of being so much further away than we were. Taking my son trick or treating in downtown Berkeley Spring was such a treat. The firehouse had lots of activities and treats and even the local pizzeria was given away wonderful slices of pizza to the kids. We will be back (with more people) next spring. Loved it!!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
