  We rented the Taverna and the ground floor apartment opposite. For the 7 members of the family this was ideal and very safe for the children. The accommodation was very cool, clean and had all the amenities we needed for a stay with children. Maria was extraordinarily kind and helpful, full of suggestions for trips, including a sagra, and everything we asked for, maps,hairdryer, lamps, balls[ children] was provided. We could not have been better looked after; we would love to return.Barga is a wonderful place and a good base for exploring Tuscany.

  Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

  We loved Bella Barga!! Maria was so helpful. She provided us w/ verbal and written information on many local places. She made great suggestions for places to eat. She even invited us to go to evening outings w/ her! We felt like we were with family. Breakfast was delicious! She made special food just for us! The bedroom was large, the bathroom was spacious. We were able to do laundry, which was a plus! The house is so convenient to everything in Barga!

  We have holidayed in Barga every year for over 30 years now, we brought our children and now bring our grandchildren too!. We lived in the partments behind the main house which was ideal for us as our son, wife and children had the ground floor and we had the upper apartment. The accommodation is really handy to walk into Barga for meals, etc. We found Maria to be most helpful and very complimentary towards us and the family. We would certainly hope to return to this accommodation in the future and would recommend it to anyone. We have rented accommodation in many places in Barga and have found this one to be ideal for us.

  October 18, 2009 Just completed a week (7 of us) at Bella Barga and had a great time. There was plenty of room for all of us and wonderful shared meals in the tavern kitchen. Maria was very helpful in choosing a restaurant for a first night birthday dinner for one of the gang. We all enjoyed beautiful Barga and the surrounds. Local food was great as well as wonderful local hikes. (Thanks to Reggie, too!)

  What an amazing July we spent in Barga. The town was the perfect location and the accommodations matched. Our 17 month old had plenty of room to play. Great food and fun festivals. The welcome was very warm and Maria and Mum were very helpful with our needs. A great value for the perfect location in Tuscany. Highly recommended

  Our stay at "La Bella Barga" was the highlight of our trip, and YES, we would love to return. Everything was perfect - the accommodations, the meals, the simplicity & beauty of Barga..... I sit here and shake my head ... it was like a fairy tale, and we were very fortunate to have lived it

  Our relatives come from the Barga area, so we know the area quite well. We stayed at Bella Barga Summer 06 with our family of 4 (2 children) in the ground back apartment and my sister and brother-in-law stayed in the apartment upstairs. Having the two apartments was very convenient and comfortable. The location in Barga is ideal because it's within a 3 minute walk to the central town square and a 5 minute walk to old Barga (inside the medieval wall), yet it's on a quiet tree-lined street. Wonderful coffee shops, restaurants, parks are very close. In 2007, my cousin stayed at the larger apartment in the main house with her sisters and brothers for a family reunion and had a wonderful time. When travelling with a family, having a washing machine was a bonus. Parking is easy, too, though the location is convenient enough that we could get wherever we want to go with or without a car since there are bus services as well (frankly, I could spend all my time in Barga and not go anywhere else for weeks). And, as other commenters have said, Maria is a great host and gave us all the information we needed by email in advance. We'll be back!

  We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Wonderful apartment on a tree lined street near all the sights and close to Lucca and Viareggio by train or bus.

  Very clean and everything manufactured with old-world, high quality craftsmanship. Extremely modern, great owners, which are quite friendly and animated. The town has really brightened up over the years and is a rare gem that is not to be missed. I had a wonderful stay. My family's roots are in Barga. Fred Willard

  We enjoyed our stay vey much! It was clean, convenient and very pleasant! The warm welcome made it worth thr trip from Lucca, and we hated to leave...we do hope to return...great bargain for the price:)
