Searching for a respite from the busy world, away from the crowds; but within a short drive to popular destinations? Located in a Gated Oceanfront Community; our home is just a 2 min minute Stroll to the beach, & a 5-7 minute walk to Negra surf break. Our 3 bedroom cottage offers a special ambiance of its own with an abundance of wildlife found only on the riverfront, in an enchanting setting filled with mature indegenous trees (Guanacastes, Maranons, Pachote, Cortez, Guassimo).
Nestled in the treetops & overlooking the Pargos River, our 1200SF living space is perfect for a romantic getaway, 2 couples or a family of 6 to enjoy access to the best of Guanacaste's wildlife: Howler Monkeys, Iguanas, Butterflies, Mapaches, Variegated Squirrels,& an array of birds including Parakeets, hummingbirds & Turquoise Browed Mot Mots! The yard is landscaped with grass & tropical plants. Outdoor chairs are provided for admiring the wildlife, river & trees.
Each sun-lit room offers vivid green views of the tropical landscape. The home is decorated with tasteful furnishings, & handmade wood doors & windows. The main living area is tree-top height; from the sofas and dining area enjoy a floor to ceiling wall of windows and a view window overlooking the river and Guanacaste trees. The cottage has a beautiful 17' vaulted exotic hardwood ceiling & a galley kitchen open to living and dining area, new granite countertops & stone backsplash. 2 bathrooms, 1 upstairs & 1 down; feature granite, vessel sinks & spa style showers. All 3 bedrooms have french doors overlooking the tropical vista. The 2 upstairs bedrooms have balconies; 1 standing & 1 with chairs overlooking the river. The spacious downstairs bedroom has a stone patio and a separate entry & bath. Soft sheets, new mattresses & A/C make for a great nights sleep. Each bedroom has a large Cedar armoire for clothing. Tropical ceiling fans throughout the home.
Playa Negra is a quaint beach town reminiscent of Costa Rica 15 years ago. We are within a short driving distance to Tamarindo, Playa Junquillal, Hacianda Pinella, and Playa Avellanas; but far enough away to avoid crowds. You can take a 30 minute walk on the beach seeing only a handful of people, and there are plenty of spots to put out your beach towel and tan. We have 8 restaurants in town, including seafood, peruvian, pizza, baked goods,cappucino, even an amazing 5 star chef with a large wine cellar. Yoga classes, Massage, Movie, Surfboard and Snorkle Rentals are available locally. There is a new zipline and mountain horseback tour; just a 20 min drive!
Our gated community is oceanfront, our Playa Negra home for rent (with gated parking) is a 2 minute walk to the beach and a 5-7 minute walk to the Playa Negra surf Break. The walk is full of Coco palms, Marignon, Almond, Guanacaste, flowering trees, heliconia flowers and bananas. Why the Owner Chose Playa Negra
The quaint beachside town of Playa Negra de Los Pargos retains the feeling of purity and tranquility of Costa Rica years earlier. You will not find high-rises, large hotels or condos. We DO have lots of monkeys, iquanas, birds, horses, great waves, unpolluted waters and pristine beaches. We have exceptional surfing on reef breaks; interspersed with sandy areas for swimming, Tidal pools for exploring, snorkeling in shallow waters with yellow puffers, box fish, angel fish, wrasse and gobies, and fishing sites. There are long stretches of beach for collecting seashells and sharing romance. Rancho Playa Negra is one of only 3 gated oceanfront communities South of Tamarindo and North of Marbella/ Nosara (45 min. N & S Respectively)
The Unique Benefits at this Home
Our cottage, a 2 minute walk to the beach, is at the end of a cul-de-sac and is the only home in Rancho Playa Negra that is bordered by the Los Pargos River on 2 sides; offering an abundance of wildlife that depend on the river. The cottage is nicely furnished with plentiful bedroom and kitchen storage, travertine & granite finishes, a grassy yard on 3 sides and islands of tropical plants. Our yard has parking for 2 cars and is filled with mature trees that host the animals and birds. The white gravel path around our gated community are bordered with palms, bananas, and heliconia flowers, and are great for jogging and walking.

Married 10 years, with one baby girl and our dream vacation is still about enjoying the romance of marriage. We visited Costa Rica individually 14 years ago, returned for our honeymoon and moved here 4 years ago. We love the rainforests, mountains, tropical climate, warm people and especially the abundance of wildlife and nature experienced in Costa Rica. We build custom vacation homes in the Playa Negra Area and, with the help of local craftsmen, have lovingly renovated the cottage that we purchased and lived in for 2.5 years. The cottage is now filled with sunlight and emphasizes the river and treetop views. We added balconies off two bedrooms, and a patio off the third. Locally made large wood windows show off the best art (vivid green trees, bright blue skies, tons of birds and sometimes monkeys)while details of natural stone in the fully remodeled kitchen, bathrooms, floor and exterior add a touch of luxuriousness.
