I enjoyed a wonderful getaway at the beautiful Reef Beach House! The house is very clean, spacious and well appointed, with all the amenities one could need. The owner was wonderful to deal with and her directions, very easy to follow. I arrived in no time at all (less than 30 mins with a stop at the wine store!) from the Departure Bay (Nanaimo, BC) Ferry Terminal. The Reef Beach house is ideally located right on the water in the Nuttal Bay (I think) area of Nanoose Bay. I arrived at sunset where I enjoyed a glass of wine on the deck while I watched the sea lions play out front in the bay and listened to the waves crash. The peacefulness and tranquility is palpable and yet, part of a lively community with many activities nearby. Be sure to take a stroll around Reed Road, visit the local area and squeeze in a golf game (I played Fairwinds and it was fantastic!) or whatever activities interest you - there is no shortage! I highly recommend renting this property to anyone. The customer service was excellent and welcome package very informative - a very simple, customer friendly rental process. The only downside...leaving... until next time!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

The standard of accommodation and amenities offered at the Reef Beach House has remained consistently high over the last six summers we have visited this beautiful home. This house with its tasteful, modern furnishings, amazing water-edge location and incredible ocean views, has to rival any five-star hotel! The beautiful patio, complete with BBQ, is our favourite "dining table" for all meals and the coast-line is great for walking and exploring rock pools. This year, we explored the neighbourhood on foot and by bike, had an excellent dinner at the Fairwinds Golf Course and took day drives to Parksville and Rath Trevor Beach, Coombs and Qualicum. We cannot wait to return!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

This was our third trip to the Reef Beach house and Cottage. It is perfect for family gatherings. The Reef House easily accommdates our family of three and my brothers' family. Our older parents stay in the Reef Cottage just across the backyard. We are all close together and everyone still has their own space. We love sitting on the deck watching the wildlife. This year we saw otters, seals, orcas (!) and the bald eagles like to sit in the arbutus tree right beside the deck. The Reef House is spacious and well maintained. It is also conveniently located for trips to Parksville, Coombs to see the Goats on the Roof market and the Englishman River Falls - a great place to spend the day floating on a warm easy river. We will be back!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

Our family of 11, 6 adults and children aged 10mo., 2yrs., 4yrs., 9yrs & 10yrs just spent a week at this property earlier this month. We loved the location on the Strait of Georgia and spent many hours on the large deck just soaking up the view complete with antics of eagles, seal, otters, herons and even a pod of dolphin. The rocky beach below was a definite attraction for the fleet-footed but the path down too rugged for the little ones or those of us with mobility issues. We loved the fire pit and spent almost every evening around it. Since we had such little ones with us, our daughters' main concern when acquiring a place, was that there be room for everyone to spread out and be able to sleep and nap without being one on top the other. We needn't have worried... this house is spacious and there is room for everyone to be able to rest away from the hub-bub. We did all our own cooking, so were happy for the big kitchen and the very ample adjoining pantry. We spent many hours around the large kitchen island. The house itself is showing its age in places, but was clean and well supplied, and it was evident that efforts have been made to update and modernize. We had a few minor concerns, but they were addressed by the owner as soon as we emailed... a very attentive and helpful owner. Since we had such young children with us, our activities consisted of short outings within driving distance once or twice a day. We loved the area and would love to come back to enjoy more of it. One of our families is leaving the country for a number of years at the end of summer, but our son-in-law already said we should meet at this place again when they return! ~ The Neufeld familyDid you find this review helpful? 8 Golfers stayed at the REEF BEACH HOUSE and COTTAGE over a 6 day period. The location was absolutely perfect for our golfing excursions. We traveled as far north as Campbell River and as far south as Duncan during our stay and the Nanoose Bay location was extremely central and just a few minutes away from the Island highway. The ocean view, the frolicking deer, the peaceful ambience (no traffic noise) was very welcoming and relaxing. There were plenty of bathrooms and everyone was pleased with the comfort afforded by the beds. It was nice to have access to a garage with an automatic door opener and we were able to keep our golf equipment in our vehicles overnight. This is a very safe neighbourhood and we would again emphasize and applaud the quiet location the premises are located on. The house and the cottage are extremely well equiped with all necessary items required for cooking and cleaning. We were very busy during the time we were on the Island, so we concentrated more on the golf and a little less on the cooking (none) and cleaning (some); but if anyone is so inclined there is a BBQ and a great looking stove. A good time was had by all; we were very comfortable and we would return to this accomodation in a heart beat.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children.

We stayed for a week in July and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We easily found the house and fell in love with the view. Our boys enjoyed exploring the rocks each day and there was plenty to do in the surrounding area. We bought some crab for dinner just down the road and had a feast. The house itself had plenty of room for us and was clean. You may want to bring an extra reading lamp with you if you like to curl up with a book as some of the rooms do not seem to have enough lighting. The kitchen was a great space to enjoy a home cooked meal and socialize around the large island. We loved the otters that came right up to the shore in front of the house and peaked in the window. The boys enjoyed roasting gigantic marshmallows we bought in Coombs, around the fire pit. The island is filled with markets featuring talented artisans. We also enjoyed watching some of the sand castle competition nearby in Parksville. All in all we had a great time and hope to stay again at the Reef Beach House.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children.

Our family has stayed at Reef Beach House on 4 occasions and will undoubtedly go back for more visits. The views from the house are absolutely superb at any time of the day or night. (Our favourite time is when having tea on the deck very early in the morning when the ocean and sky are brightly coloured by the rising sun.) The area is about as peaceful as you can get with only the sound of the normally gentle ocean in the background. The location of the house makes it very easy to visit many of the main tourist areas on the island. For example, we found it easy to do day trips as far away as Comox, Victoria and Port Alberni and it is a very short drive to Parksville for supplies or to spend a day on the beach. However, on our most recent visit we hardly ventured out as we enjoyed staying at the house which is simply an all round great place to relax. We rented some kayaks and enjoyed exploring the two bays which are very close to the house, the children enjoyed the small south facing beach which is only 500 metres from the house, we spent hours beach combing along the rocky shoreline and rode our bikes all over the surrounding area. Most of all though we enjoyed simply siiting on the deck or in the kitchen and living room and enjoying the spectacular views.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We really enjoyed our stay at Reef Beach House. The clean uncluttered interior was perfect. The deck offered spectacular views of the straight and mainland and the courtyard was a nice shelter on the one cold breezy day of our stay. The owner was prompt in responding to our queries and helpful with the planning of our stay. It's a great house for one or two families.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

The house was in a perfect location and the photos are an exact representation of the property. I was concerned about having an attached cottage to the house, but we didn't even notice that there were people there - they had their space and we had ours. The view was stunning and the little beach just up the road is perfect on a hot day when you just can't be anywhere but in the water. We were short a few drinking glasses, but Rhonda took care of that through the property manager. All in all a great house.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

Why the Owner Chose Nanoose Bay:
This property for us is both a primary and secondary home depending on the time of year. We love this property because we can go from the doorstep of our home in Calgary to the doorstep of this property within less than 4 hours by plane. It is a perfect location where we have all of the luxurious amenities and charm of a west coast beach home, without it being over populated in a tourist area. The popular tourist destinations are a short drive away. For us, it is an idilic location for rest and relaxation; a place to create family memories; a welcome retreat from the hustle and bustle of the big city.
