The Marsh House is a unique home located on Bayou Liberty in Slidell. Bayou Liberty leads to Lake Pontchartrain and is one of the top scenic bayous in Louisiana. It's about a 15 minute ride by boat to the lake. The bayou is perfect for fishing, jet skiing, kneeboarding, or taking a leisurely cruise to see the old homes on the bayou. Slidell is thirty minutes from New Orleans but has the feel of stepping back in time to a slower way of life. Bayou Liberty has the annual pirogue races in June, close enough to get into the Poker Runs, and Santa on the Bayou in December. There are many good restaurants and antique shops in Olde Towne.
The home is perfect for entertaining....having two living rooms with fireplaces and a formal dining area. It is a 3500 square foot home, so it is very spacious. There is a screened porch off the living room, with an outside kitchen with a Vulcan stove. The house is raised and above the house is an observatory...the perfect place to watch the sun set, the moon rise and the idea place to catch the full moon. Below the house is a spacious area, perfect for having crawfish boils.....with a refrigerator and bathroom.
The Marsh House has a front and back porch which extends the length of the home. All the rooms open to the porches by French doors. Two of the bedrooms have king size, pillow-topped beds. There are two queen beds in two bedrooms and the last bedroom/office, has a futon.
There is a dock for two boats and an attached garage, in addition to the garage on the floor level. There is a public boat launch a few streets away. If you don't have a boat, there are places where pontoon boats can be rented, or the house canoe is available to explore the bayou and canals.
Guests are welcome to use the facilities at Chamale' Tennis an Social Club. There are four tennis courts, a large pool and a clubhouse to have your favorite beverage. Plan your own tennis event and end the day on the observatory watching the sunset.
The Marsh House is close to visit New Orleans or the Gulf Coast - about 30 minutes away. It's a wonderful home for family reunions or just getting friends together. Laissez bon temps roulez or Far niente.
