This is a really nice house and we loved staying here! It's off the beaten path and secluded, but right on the lake, a couple hundred feet up on a cliff. You can hear the soothing sounds of the water below. The views here are incredible - this lake and the Andes are so majestic! While downtown Bariloche is about 20 minutes away, you can breath out here and feel much more connected to nature and the lake. The main living room has amazing views and is where we spent most of our time when at home. We could use our laptops with the wireless connection which was great since we needed to stay in touch with work. The bedrooms and bathrooms are comfortable - There were only 2 of us but it can sleep more. The kitchen has everything you'd need, though we ate out mostly. Restaurant musts (all fairly close): Butterfly - exceptional 5 star dining, Il Gabbiano - fine dining, El Boliche Don Alberto - excellent traditional Argentine steakhouse, Bread - great pisco sours and views for lunch or afternoon tea. For activities, visiting the city center is a must. Best shopping bets are chocolate (Mamushka), leather (Cardon), local gifts (just walk along Calle Mitre), local wood artisans (downtown and roadside vendors), rose oil (look for stores that sell it). But after that, enjoy the nature! From the house, drive around Cicuito Chico and see the famous Llao Llao hotel. The port right in front is the launch point of the Lakes trip to Chile. It's worth doing this if you fly home from Santiago. Otherwise, just do a day trip to Isla Victoria. Also along Circuito Chico are some good hiking trails. And the best view of the whole area is right at the top of the road. For a day trip, drive to Lake Hess for amazing views of Mnt Tronador with its glaciers. This is unspoiled nature at its best! I've been to Bariloche several times and am always awe-struck by the beauty and magnificence of this area. It's not easy to get to, but all is forgiven when you get off the airplane and see the lake for the first time. This is an excellent house to rent, especially if you want to relax outside of the city and experience the dramatic views and nature of the area.
