  The Yellow House is awesome. It is exactly what you see on the website and more. Kathy was lovely - arrived shortly after we did and offered us excellent tips on where to eat, shop and the best beaches to explore. The Island Farm was a great tip too - I don't recall ever experiencing such a variety of fresh greens on any other Caribbean island before. The house is beautifully decorated and provisioned so well. After the drive in from the ELH airport we arrived to some nicely chilled Kalik beers and got settled in. We explored different beaches nearby each day that were incredible. Truly like pictures out of a magazine - and no crowds! Kathy told us it was a busy time on the island - and we only experienced 4 other people on the beach with us. HEAVEN! After a day out, we came home and relaxed by the pool, fixed dinner in the wonderful kitchen and enjoyed dinner al fresco on the porch under the stars. Thanks to Matt as well for suggesting this particular accomodation and for checking in after we arrived to be sure all was well. Truly relaxing and wonderful. We only wish we had more time. A 5 star visit that we highly recommend.

  The Yellow House was a wonderful place for us to spend our vacation and Eleuthera can't be beat . We rented the house last year and enjoyed it so much, we came back this year to the same place....but for longer! Our group included 2 familys, each with 2 adults and 2 kids (ages 4 and 6). The Yellow House suited our needs very well. The house is well built, tastefully decorated, clean, comfortable, open and airy. The images and description on the site are accurate, but the house looks even better in person. For us, having a pool is a must and the proximity of this pool, adjacent to the house, was perfect. The kitchen was stocked with anything you could need. Owners Kathy and Bob are warm, friendly, knowledgeable and available for any questions. The location of the Yellow House was also very convenient. The town of Governor's Harbor (where you'll find grocery, liquor, gas, fresh fish, cafes) is a short walk down the hill, and gorgeous French Leave Beach is a short walk (or even shorter drive if you have tons of beach toys, chairs, etc.) down the other side of the hill. We rented a van and spent our days exploring the amazing beaches on both the Atlantic and Carribean sides of the island. We'd return to the house in the afternoon and relax by the pool. The island of Eleuthera was a great match for what we were looking - undeveloped, relaxed, and naturally beautiful. People are friendly and welcoming. The island has a laid-back vibe, very different from Nassau or many resort-dominated Carribean destinations. The beaches on the island are some of the most beautiful I have ever seen, and there are a lot of them! We enjoyed a few good restaurants (Tippy's, The Beach House), picked up fresh veggies and baked goods at Island Farm, and frequented the Governor's Harbor bakery for fresh donuts. I highly recommend Eleuthera as a destination and the Yellow House as a rental property.

  Our stay at the Yellow House was fantastic. It is a beautiful home; looks just like the pictures, very homey and lots of room. It had everything we needed for a relaxing time away from the rest of the world! After a long day of traveling we did not have to hunt up a leasing office. The owner, Kathy met us at the house, gave us a tour and many excellent tips to make our stay on the island much more enjoyable. In addition she has a notebook full of things to do on the island, who to contact, places to eat; everything we needed including all of her contact numbers in case we had a problem. We did end up with a question and within 5 minutes had the answer. There were no down sides; everything was wonderful!

  My husband, myself and our 2 daughters age 2 1/2 and 5 -plus our au pair from Germany just had an outstanding 10 day stay at the yellow house in governors habour - Everything about the house represents a 5 star hotel -the amenities were better then most second homes, the linens, beach towels, etc were plentiful, clean, and comfortable - the colemans couldnt have been more welcoming and hospitable during our stay - you can truly tell an interior decorator spent a great deal of time decorating the house - we just loved it -very roomy and plenty of space for our children and our au pair to each have their own space - We are already planning our next trip - the location is just perfect and we were so sad to leave - As for Eleuthera -it is by far our favorite island out of all the bahamas and caribbean - the people so friendly and genuine and the beaches are the most peaceful and stunning in the world - thank you for an fabulous stay - We would highly recommend this to all our friends and family!

  The house is beautiful, well maintained and very well appointed. The location was perfect for us; a short walk to town or French Leave beach. Kathy was available if we needed anything but we found literally everything we needed was already in the house. If you are looking to get away and relax in comfort I don't think that you can do any better than this. We look forward to returning as soon as we can.

  We loved this house, the pool, the location, everything about it. The home is beautifully decorated with a beachy but elegant touch, the kitchen is loaded with gear and platters (plenty for a proper dinner with friends, very rare in a rental), and French Leave beach is a quick walk down the hill. This home allows for an authentic Bahamian experience away from the crowds of bigger islands. A lovely spot.

  Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

  My Husband and I, with our 3 children took our first trip to Eleuthera and could not be happier with our stay at this house that was even better in person. The décor and lay out were so serene and stylish, along with every amenity you could think of. The house has a feel of a luxury 5 star resort with the convenience of a private home. The location was perfect: close to town, the beach, restaurants and on a hill with a wonderful breeze and views of the water and sunsets. The owners couldn’t have been nicer with their welcome and recommendations, including our favorite – Tippy’s restaurant. We count the days till we can return !

  Firstly, having never heard of Eleuthera when it was reccomended to us we were a bit nervous about the overall trip. Prior to the trip the property owner (Kathy) was beyond accommodating. She offered tons of local information and even offered to coordinate some food for the house prior to arrival as well as airport transfers. We stepped off the plane and literally within 15 minutes we were pulling into the driveway of Yellow House. Kathy met us at the house and walked us through the entire property. I don't want this to sound like a gross exaggeration, but walking into the house was like stepping into the pages Architectual Digest. The meticulous attention to detail in the decorating and open airy feel we're only topped by the amenities this property offers. On top of it all, the house was well stocked with all the basics we needed (shower gel, shampoo, bottled water, coffee, etc). Beyond the basics were the fully equipped kitchen with everything we needed to cook anything we wanted all week long (along with a gas grill on the rear deck - I highly reccomend getting lobster tails down at the end of the block from the local fisherman's daily catch and tossing them on the grill at least one night during your stay!) This property is in the ideal location, close to everything you need (be sure to do lunch at Tippy's on French Leave Beach and Cocodimamas on Alabaster Beach... Also take a walk down the road to Clipper Imports at Rose Manor for great souvenirs with a local flavor). We initially wanted to be directly on the beach but were glad we chose a property close to the beaches with a pool instead. There is not an endless amount of things to do on the island so the pool gives a great change of pace from the beaches for part of the day. I don't think we would have been happy on one beach as we had explored several different beaches and used the house and pool as our "home base". The pool at the house was a perfect oasis and the house has a good amount of kids pool toys to keep the kids happy. We will be back in Eleuthera again for sure, we will most definately be staying in Yellow House again when we do. Take note this is not your average rental property, it is well appointed with top end finishes and attention to detail. Thank you Kathy and Bob (and Matt for the recommendation!)

  arriving on 6 seater plane from nassau,9 hours from london, flying into G.Harbour , 10 minutes later sitting by the pool with a cold klick local beer, cannot wait to go back .If you want peace and your own beach ,this is the place, the house makes you feel at home, we are already planning our next visit, thanks

  We just spent the most relaxing week on vacation on the wonderful low key island in the Bahamas—Eleuthera. Bob and Kathy Coleman’s Yellow house was unlike any rental we have ever experienced. It is warm and inviting and stocked with amenities unheard of in a rental. Pack a swimsuit and a couple of shorts and you are set for the week. Fully stocked kitchen, bar, towels, beach towels, shampoo, conditioner, soap and more wine glasses then I own at home await you. Bob even had an ice cold six pack of Kalik’s in the fridge for our arrival. They are a charming couple who truly love the island and want you to experience Eleuthera as they have. They are a multitude of beaches to discover and thanks to Kathy (and the Elusive Beaches of Eleuthera book) we did! Exploring the beaches by day and coming home to swim in the wonderful pool were a daily highlight. We recommend a stay in the charming Yellow House and look forward to a return visit!
