My wife and I were looking for a relaxing Palm Springs retreat where we could take our dogs. Previously we always stayed at hotels/resorts in Palm Springs, and can tell you that this is the new standard for us! The owners are over the top welcoming and have a beautiful place both inside and out. Upon arrival the home was very clean was accurately reflected in the photos. Inside the home has a perfect open feel with excellent hip cool interior design. One of the coolest things about the house that my wife and i really enjoyed was that it was the fact the house was wired for a true mobile experience (great works guys)! Outside, the pool and view of the mountains puts it over the top that is perfect for the dogs as well. Lots of grass and shade made the heat very bearable for the dogs when we were lounging outside. We loved the place and left already talking about wanting to come back soon. Must admit that we didn't venture out into downtown as much as we would have liked even though it was very close. Three places we did try and would recommend for laid back meals would be Woody's Burgers, Mama's BBQ and Upper Crust. Overall, great relaxing spot in an resort style house full of every amenity that your heart could desire.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
Owner response: Thanks, James and Tiffany. I'm so glad to hear you enjoyed your stay at our house. You were wonderful guests. We hope to see you again soon. Marc

This is an exceptional property in a quiet neighbourhood. Art and furnishings have been carefully curated by the owners to reflect the period of the house. Lovely private yard and pool. Exceedingly well-maintained. Owners couldn't have been more helpful or easier to deal with. Highly recommended.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

I appreciated the midcentury modern design and furnishings. The openness of the main area with sliding doors to the outside backyard was wonderful. Everything was very clean and comfortable. All appliances worked well, tv worked well and we had plenty of dinnerware and cookware to cook and eat in every night. The pool was sparkling clean and maintained twice per week. Appreciated the garage to store our vehicle. The yard was well taken care of and maintained by a regular gardener. Kai and Marc were very helpful if we had questions about how things worked or what to do in Palm Springs. Thanks very much to both of you. We were happy to have met you and we hope to return.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, people with disabilities, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

I spent a week here with my husband and dog and we had a wonderful time. The house is beautifully decorated and extremely clean and comfortable with all the modern conveniences you might need (bose stereo speakers for ipod, etc.). The pool was a delight and didn't bleach our suits (which are optional as it's totally private) since it's saltwater rather than chlorine. The landscaping was luscious with lots of nice shady grassy areas for the dog to relax even in the heat of the day without being too hot (at least for a little while, but after all, it is Palm Springs!). The owners were very helpful, courteous, and easy to reach. I think it's a good value for the money. I would note that I didn't see a separate den or pull-out couch, so if you have a party of six, I would inquire first. For our purposes it was perfect. Thanks, Marc!Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+.
Owner response: Thank you for your nice comment. I'm glad you enjoyed a pleasant stay at our house. We hope top see you again soon. How's the dog?

We just finished a six night stay at Marc & Kai's home and it was wonderful. When you first arrive you notice the neighborhood is quiet, yet convenient to everything. The house then proceeds to greet you warmly, along with a few bottles of vino compliments of the owners. Kai was actually there to greet us and show us the home and its features (how to heat the pool, how to work the Apple TV, etc), lent us a few suggestions on fun in the sun, and then was on his way. The house itself - very chic, very comfortable, very relaxing. The kitchen is very well appointed, as are the bathrooms. The finishes are thoughtful and stylish. Our favorite was the living room; cathedral ceilings with exposed beams arch over the space, while the sliding doors meld the outdoors into the home (the cross breezes are fantastic). Both bedrooms act as quiet retreats and are very comfortable also. The home is also pet friendly, with a large wall keeping our pets in (camouflaged with bamboo so it is anything but an eyesore). We brought three dogs and a water bowl was waiting for them. And a doggie door is available - which always makes a dog owner's life a little easier. The best way to finish the review - we are discerning vacation property renters who will surely be making another reservation here.Recommended for: Sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+.

Owner info

About the owner: As a designer, I am a big fan of Palm Springs. I always loved the beauty and serenity of the desert. It's a magic place, far enough from the big city to relax and unwind - and still only 2 hours away from it. My life is very busy and hectic, and this is the place where I recharge my batteries. Two hours from LA and I'm in a lush sunny mid century paradise with spectacular views and cocktails by the pool at night under starry skies.
Why the Owner Chose Movie Colony East (formerly Ruth Hardy Park):
Ruth Hardy Park area to me is one of the prime areas in Palm Springs. Almost every house can tell a story. Lucille Ball lived around the block, Cary Grant had a big mansion a few streets from here. The center is the beautiful park, an oasis where people come for a walk with their pets, or to play tennis, racquetball, or just relax in the shade of the old Mesquite trees.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
If you like the aesthetic of Mid Century Modern, Knoll, Eames, Case Study.. this is your place. We've renovated this home for almost a year and added beautiful period furniture and art we've collected over time.
If you look up the house on Google street view, don't be disappointed: it's showing the status before the extensive renovation. Compare to the images shown here.
