Relax in the shade of your private, covered patio with tropical landscaping. Stroll one block to Kailua Beach where you can enjoy the bright blue water along the three-mile stretch of soft, white sand. Around the corner is Lanikai Beach which Conde Nast Magazine has called the #1 beach in America.
We are tucked away on a private lane on the Windward side of Oahu about 30 minutes from the Honolulu Airport. The apartment is part of our house, but is completely private. It has a separate entrance featuring a covered patio with a table and four chairs.
This convenient, comfortable unit has wireless Internet access, a queen-size bed and a kitchenette with everything you need to prepare your own meals or you can walk to nearby restaurants. Use the air conditioner or open the windows and let the ceiling fan stir the gentle, ocean breezes. The unit has its own washer and dryer so you can pack light for your visit to Oahu's best beach community.

We arrived late friday night but our host left signs leading to the sweet apartment that we stayed in for 4 nights in beautiful Kailua! Spotless, convenient and nicely equipped with kitchen "stuff" and a really handy washer/dryer . A brief walk down the street leads to a spectacular beach and park with all the locals of the Kailua Canoe Club putting in the day we arrived! Wonderful little markets and restaurants. Great hike to The Lanikai Pillbox and access to all parts of the island. Our host were helpful with information and most important share the spirit of Aloha! A return visit to Hawaii will hopefully include another stay at Blue Water Hideaway! Mahalo! Kathy and RichRecommended for: Romantic getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, age 55+.

"We have stayed at many studios on the islands but the Hideaway is one of the best. It is clean, comfortable, quiet, near two gorgeous beaches and offers all the amenities needed. The location in Kailua is beautiful, peaceful and private. It is a great way to avoid the big city noise and yet be in a central location to all of Oahu's many attractions. Kailua itself has plenty of grocery stores, restaurants and cafes. You won't go hungry. Like shopping for clothing, souvenirs or awesome art? Downtown has it all. Jim and Nina were very helpful and pleasant. If we're lucky enough to return to Oahu we will certainly stay at the Hideaway again and recommend it to everyone.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, age 55+.

We just stayed in the unit the week of 10/13/12. The unit is perfect for a couple. The unit is clean and well maintained with internet access, washer and dryer, small kitchen, and A/C. It was as described. The Kailua beach and Lanikai beach are 5 minutes walking. The unit is also near major roads, so you can get to Honolulu, and any part of the Island very easy. Honolulu is about 20-30 minutes. The owners, Jim and Nina, provided very timely answers to our questions before our arrival and were very helpful during our stay. Staying in Kailua kept us away from the very busy, tourist areas of Waikiki, but close enough to visit. From this location we toured the whole island without any problems. It is also near Kenoehe also. The island is not big, so you can get everyone relatively easy. There are several restaurants in Kailua. Buzz Steaks is overpriced, I wouldn't recommend it. I recommend the Kalapawai Market for supplies and for sandwiches. I recommend this unit for couples, with a rental car, and wanting to stay away from the tourist areas but close enough to visit them.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

We run our own VRBO, so are fairly choosey about where we stay. We were extremely pleased with our stay at Jim and Nina's home. As others have noted, they are quite accommodating and helpful. Our suite had everything we needed, including an iron and ironing board. It is in a very private location, with lovely ginger plants growing outside the windows, and the beaches are a block away. We couldn't have been more pleased with our stay and look forward to coming again.Recommended for: People with disabilities, adventure seekers, sightseeing, age 55+.

This is our second trip to Hawaii, and me and my spouse decided to stay again in Kailua, the place we fall in love in our first trip. We decided to stay at the blue water Hideaway and we're not be disappointed! Is a short walk by flip-flops to Kailua Beach. Every shop You'll need is in the range of 5 min. by car from there. Great location for all other places on the island, far away from the rush. Nina and Jim are wonderful hosts and give us a really warm welcome, every day Jim welcomes us with a smile and ask if everything's fine. The Hideaway is full with everything You'll need: kitchen stuff, Hawaii's traveler's book...all at handy! The washing machine and the dryer was a must! The only complain we may made is that the Hideaway is righ for just TWO, and you may only have your meal outside...we had two rain evenings and that was not pretty good. Anyway: a real great place where stay in Oahu!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.

This isn't the first time we have stayed with Jim and Nina, but this was our first stay in the Hideaway. We were not disappointed. The unit is impeccably clean and furnished with many necessities. The Hideaway is located within a short walk to Kailua and Lanikai beaches. We rented bikes from Kailua Sailboards and Kayaks for the week and they helped make trips to downtown Kailua very quick. Nina told us about the Kailua farmer's market near the library, and we stocked up on local fruit and veggies. The new Whole Foods in Kailua was a big surprise for us, and we bought fresh ono to grill at the unit. We had an April 2012 copy of Sunset magazine featuring several restaurants on Oahu that we wanted to visit. We had a fantastic meal at Town in Kaimuki and a delicious lunch at Sweet Home Waimanalo (the beach there is beautiful too). We also enjoyed OnoPops - frozen treats on a stick with creative and delectable flavors. We didn't get to all the restaurants listed, but that gives us incentive to come back! Jim and Nina are cordial and gracious hosts who feel like friends to us. I recommend either of their units. We look forward to many futures visits with them.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, sightseeing, age 55+.

My husband and I just returned from a week on Oahu, where we spent three nights at the Blue Water Hideaway. Having never visited this side of Oahu, we really didn't know what to expect. Not only did we fall in love with Kailua town, but the Hideaway was the perfect place to stay. It was exceptionally clean, is in a wonderful location, and is stocked with all necessities (including beach towels, beach chairs and boogie boards). The private patio was the perfect place to both start and end the day. The Hideaway is about a 3 minute walk to Kailua Beach Park, 5 minutes to Buzz's Steak House, and about 8 minutes to Kalawapai Market and Deli (a great place to get fresh brewed coffee and excellent sandwiches). Ten minutes the other direction and you're at Lanikai Beach, a gorgeous beach noted for its calm warm swimming and snorkeling water. In addition to the accommodations surpassing our expectations, Jim and Nina were wonderful hosts. We thoroughly enjoyed chatting with them, and will definitely return. Our first grandchild will be born in October in Kaneohe, and we plan to make the Blue Hideaway our home away from home. Mahalo Jim and Nina for making our stay so terrific!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing, age 55+.

My husband and I went on our first trip to Hawaii and could not of asked for a better place to stay. The apartment was far more private an comfortable than a hotel. We had everything we needed. It was wonderful having 2 excellent beaches in walking distance. Kailua beach was only 3 minutes away and was perfect for swimming. Lanikai beach was just a few more minutes and was excellent for snorkling (not to mention they had the snorkling equiptment for us to use). And if we had any questions about where to go or what was fun all we had to do was ask. Jim or Nina asked us daily if we wanted or needed anything. We asked about a good local church and Nina came out with a list of churches with address and phone numbers. It was far more relaxing being in the smaller town of Kailua rather than Honolulu or Waikiki, but only 30 minutes away if we wanted to the more crowded areas. We couldn't have asked for a better host or hostess. When we return to Oahu we will definitely return to the Hideaway. Thanks again Jim and Nina.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

My fiance and I stayed here for 2 1/2 weeks this past month. Our stay was absolutely fabulous, couldn't have been more perfect! Everything was extremely clean (and I am a neat freak:) ) and Nina and Jim were so warm and inviting! We had no problems whatsoever! The kitchen was fully equipped with everything except for an oven! So, it was perfect for cooking several meals...Also, everything was extremely up to date in the rental. I fly out to Hawaii about every three months to visit my fiance who is stationed here, so I would recommend this rental to anyone looking to stay close to MCBH. Or, anyone in general! It is practically on top of the beach! It is truly the perfect location. In fact, I will be returning here myself for the rest of my stays in Hawaii!:)Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, sightseeing, families with young children, age 55+.
