Intimate Studio with Private Balcony, Sleeps 1-2, Steps From The Beach
The Red Ginger Suite is an intimate studio and has it's own private balcony providing a city view of Waikiki. With historic Waikiki Beach is just outside the hotel lobby, the Red Ginger will make a perfect home base for exploring Honolulu and the rest of Oahu.
An expansive roof deck on top of the hotel, just one floor above the studio, provides a bird's eye view of Diamond Head. There are lounge chairs for sunbathing and tables for alfresco dining. No one else in Waikiki has a better view of the sun setting into the Pacific. Kapiolani Park is just across the street and offers the Honolulu Zoo, Waikiki Aquarium, the Royal Hawaiian Bandstand, tennis courts, soccer fields, archery ranges, weekend art shows and the city's Sunset on the Beach free concerts and movies - all this in its 500 green acres.
One of the main reasons for coming to Hawaii is of course the sun and sand. Surfing, stand up board paddling, outrigger canoeing, swimming and simply lounging on the beach are all just a few steps from the Red Ginger Suite.
Hawaii is the crossroads of the Pacific and its culinary offerings reflect that abundantly, so while the Red Ginger Suite has a kitchen and microwave, you are a short walk away from countless cafes and restaurants catering to every taste and price range. Similarly, if you can get yourself out of the water and away from the beach there is a lot of shopping to be done in Waikiki, and the many other shopping venues just a short drive away.
The Red Ginger Suite is located at the end of Waikiki. Kapahulu Avenue provides easy access to the freeway, and makes getting in and out of the area very easy because you avoid all the traffic in the heart of Waikiki. This is perfect for when you decide to explore the rest that Oahu has to offer.

About Kevin Lum
Born and raised in Honolulu, I currently live on the Mainland, but spend a lot of time in Hawaii. I have worked in the travel industry for over 35 years and have explored numerous countries around the world. I can relate to what travelers are looking for in a vacation rental because I'm looking for the same things - cleanliness, location and value.
Kevin Lum purchased this Condo in 2013
Why Kevin Lum chose Diamond Head - Kapahulu - St. Louis
I grew up in Honolulu and spent a lot of time playing at the beach and on the sea wall that is less than 30 steps from the condo. Kapiolani Park was a place for family gatherings, concerts at the Shell, and of course the Zoo. Waikiki was a lot slower and quieter when I was a kid, but even today I think visitors will still find it to be a special place. If you walk down to the Diamond Head end of Kalakaua Avenue - it's still like it was in the old days.
What makes this Condo unique
LOCATION! LOCATION! LOCATION! While being at the 'end' of Waikiki might sound like you are away from all the action, that just isn't the case. Everything Waikiki has to offer is just a short walk away, but you don't have to be in the middle of the hustle and traffic. Being on the end of Waikiki makes getting in and out of the area, if you are driving, much easier than visitors staying in the middle of the high-rises. Saving the best for last, being on the end of Waikiki means there is nothing else between you and Diamond Head except the big green expanse of Kapiolani Park. Head up to the roof deck and see for yourself! In the morning it's an amazing place to have coffee, watch the sun peek over the Koolau Mountains and light up Diamond Head, listen to the monkeys in the Zoo, and see the elephants out for a stroll. Only in Hawaii!

We had a great time. The condo is small, but plenty big enough for the 2 of us. Was in very nice shap
We stayed for a month, had breakfast there , the bigger than average fridge was awesome, with a real freezer. Room was clean and well cared for. As was the hotel. Saw many guests and all were friendly and cordial. Elevators were quick, as we were on the 9th floor , that was important. Never had to wait more than a few seconds. A minute to the beach, awesome, quiet streets, felt safe, good food nearby, parked a block away at the Waikiki Banyon, $180 for the month, $80 per week for shorter stays. We had several meals of our leftovers from the night before, the kitchen worked good for that. The laundry room in the basement was clean and very inexpensive. The 10th floor lanai was great for relaxing. The views were spectacular . All in all, a good value, great location, friendly people, our maid stopped by soon after our arrival and checked on us. Awesome. Thanks for the opportunity to stay here.
Thanks for your generous words. We work very hard to make sure the Red Ginger is a good value for guests, and it's nice to hear we're continuing to head in the right direction.
One of the best things about the Red Ginger is its location, and I'm glad you agree. It sounds like you were always on the go, and I'm glad we could provide a good home base for your adventures.
Should your travels bring you back to the Islands, I hope you'll come stay with us again.
Little hide away in Paradise
Not that it would mean much to anyone but this is the first accommodation in Hawaii that I have stayed that an electric jug was supplied...have you ever heated water through a coffee maker to make tea..results are not the best especially for a tea drinker..
Over all a very cosy quite clean and comfortable condo for a single traveller, would highly recommend it for a couple ... great location just on the edge of Diamond Head end of Waikiki ..🍹🌸🐨
Mahalo and Aloha
One of the best things about the Red Ginger is its location, less than 30 steps from the beach on the quiet end of Waikiki. We work hard to provide guests with a relaxing getaway, and I'm glad to see having an electric pot made an impact. Thanks for your kind words, and we hope to see you back in the Islands soon.
Clean quiet and private
Small and cosy absolutely perfect for a short stay..🐨🤙
Thank you for coming to stay at the Red Ginger. We work very hard to make it a nice spot for a Waikiki getaway and it's nice to hear that you agree. When your travels bring you back to the Islands we hope you'll come back! Mahalo
Great location and great home base
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Red Ginger Suite. The location is fantastic. With the building being directly across from the zoo and a park, it felt separated just enough from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki. The suite was well stocked and met our needs well.
Ultimately, it was a great home base for us while we adventured around Oahu. We would return and are grateful for the having stayed!
Great location next to the beach
The Red Ginger Apartment is located in the Grand Wakiki Hotel next to Queens Beach in Wakiki. It's literally a 2 minute walk to the beach. Queens Beach has a breakwater with a sheltered area for swimming and snorkeling. The reef extends under the breakwater so it's easy to see common reef fish like the Hummuhummunicunicuapua'a, the Hawaiian state fish. For the lazy and those who don't want to get wet, there is a nearby pier where people toss bread crumbs into the water and it's possible to see lots of common reef fish competing with birds and crabs for the food. The Zoo is across the street and it's worth the effort to go see Galapagos Tortoises. We had a car and parked it at a free city lot a block away next to the Honolulu band shell. We stayed a week and did a lot of day trips throughout Oahu so it was good to have a car and find free parking. The apartment is away from the busiest part of the Wakiki, but only a 15 minute walk to the center of everything. The apartment itself is cozy and plenty comfortable for a couple. The kitchen was well stocked with microwave, coffee maker, toaster, etc. The TV and channel selection were fine. We stayed a week. The only complaint is the noise from neighboring air conditioners that run all day and all night. Kevin was easy to communicate with and responsive to any questions we had.
Always glad to hear that guests have enjoyed their time at the Red Ginger. Our location on the "quiet" end of Waikiki is a big plus, and I'm happy to see you found the free parking. Thanks for your generous words, and I hope to welcome you back to the Islands in the future.
Overall great place and location! Would stay again on my next return. Condo had all essentials and was clean. Conveniently located within walking distance of everything on Waikiki Beach.
One of the best things about the Red Ginger is its location - less than 30 steps from the beach and a short walk from the center of Waikiki. Glad to hear that you agree! Thanks for your generous words, and we hope to have you back again.
