Great place to stay in Loreto!
Great place to stay in Loreto!
We had a fantastic time at this casa. The Loreto Bay development is really a neat place, but bear in mind that there is lots of construction going on at the present time, and it looks to be continuing for some time. Neat restaurants in the village, and only a few miles from town for shopping and more dining options. Overall, this is a really neat area and development, a lovely casa, and a beautiful setting. Would come back in a heartbeat!

We (two) had a relaxing two week vacation and this property proved to be a very easy, convenient and comfortable place to stay - it felt like "home" very quickly. The second bedroom and facilities provided perfect guest accomodation. The pictures show the property fairly - it's roomy and nicely appointed. I have no hesitation in recommending the property. It's a nice place to go to and I would stay there again. I didn't really feel like leaving when the time came. The community spirit is evident and we found the residents and neighbours friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed both the community and hotel pools and got quite accustomed to walking there, a good way of getting to know where things are in the local setting. The hotel seemed fine with non-guests using their pool - reasonably presuming that you will buy your drinks from them and/or patronize their restaurant. Sadly, references to a local grocery store were out-of-date for our visit (April/May 2013) - there was no grocery store within walking distance. We rented a car for a couple of days on two occasions and drove the 10 or 15 minutes into Loreto to buy some basic supplies from the town's super mercado - not much to write home about. Apart from breakfast and simple snacks, we didn't end up doing much cooking or food preparation in the casa's kitchen but instead sampled the local restaurants offerings. Generally decent enough food at reasonable prices. We especially liked the food offered at the wine bar (near the community pool).

This casa is impeccably maintained and incredibly comfortable. The owners are great about communicating everything you need to know to make your visit here care-free. The location is an excellent base for exploring all that the region has to offer - great beaches, hikes, biking, golf, and nearby towns and missions. Don't miss a trip to San Javier and Isla Coronados. Oh, yeah, and sunrise and sunset from the roof-top deck? It doesn't get any prettier. Dwight

A home away from home
A home away from home
A perfect vacation away from the rainy, cool, Canadian west coast winter. The casa was well-appointed, comfortable, safe and relaxing. We enjoyed watching the many movies in the movie library and after a day of exploring, sitting on the rooftop patio with a margarita in hand. I loved the unique architecture of the casa, and its design took advantage of the sunny, hot weather. In the evenings, we could hear the waves crashing on the beach—a great way to end the day.

no telephone, no computer, no car! just warmth and sun, a roof top garden to contemplate nothing at all. this was a perfect february getaway from gray skies and rain. extremely well-appointed kitchen, lots of towels and linens, short walk to grocery store, 2 coffee shops, a wine bar, and a pizza place newly opened. the fruit and veg store sells fresh local fish at a very reasonable price. restaurants at the hotel and the golf course are worth checking out. no need for a car rental with all of these within walking distance. taxis can always be found at the hotel if, like us, you prefer not to rent a car. we did not experience an abundance of dog droppings, only a few goat around the perimeter of the golf course as mentioned in a previous review. the owners were very helpful with lots of information before our trip. we have come away with many wonderful memories of the baja.

Our experience at this location was fine. we enjoyed being beside the golf course and our accommodations was good. We liked the shops around the area and used them when needed. Things that did bother me was the lack of dog owners NOT picking up after their DOGS. This was a joke. Shit everywhere including around our neighbourhood. The other item that should be noted is that people that walk around and thru the golf course DO NOT YEILD to golf groups playing. At sometime there will definetly be someone hurt Badly!! Need signage on these items. put some garbage cans on the street for people to dispose of their dogs. Would I return?? perhaps. golf was cheap if you stay for a duration and pay the monthly fee. the food in Loreto was very good . You will need a car to back and forth shopping for food that the shops in the complex don't have.

Manager response: Thanx so much for bringing this to our attention. We'll send it off to the Home Owners Association and Property Management team so they can immediately handle the dog situation and alert the golf course folks. This will definitely be on the agenda for the next Home Owners meeting. Wow...we are usually there at holiday time and have not experienced this. We are pleased that you enjoyed our home and apologize for the inconvenience. Sincerely, Casa 39ers

Stuart and Sally, We just got back last night. It was a wonderful trip and having our own place to stay was wonderful!! Your casita was very nice and homey. Beside, there were NO ONE around the house, so it was so quiet. We really enjoyed a cup of tea every morning on your upstairs porch, looking at the sun rise. It was beautiful. Thank you again for letting us stay there. By the time we left, there were a lot of snow birds from Canada, Alaska were arriving to Loreto bay. Met a lot of nice people! Hope you both are planning your trip back to Loreto soon. Have a joyful Thanksgiving with your family. Take good care, Yuko

Our Wonderful Time at Casa 39
Our Wonderful Time at Casa 39
It is gorgeous there. All that has been done and completed since we were there many years ago. It's simply gorgeous. The setting - the playground - the beauty of the neighbourhoods - spectacular ! Safe and warm and relaxing and restful and beautiful... the mix of natural beauty, design and architecture... the mountains and desert, the sea, the lush stunning beauty of the golf course and the care being given it, the blue sky and the background of desert and mountains, the collection of homes and neighborhoods... the blooming flowers, trees, shrubs and growth all about at this time of year, the hummingbirds visits right up to your nose, the playful calls of birds and pelicans soaring all about, the warm desert air, the sunsets and the dark night sky...awake, mysterious and blazing with stars... Breathtaking. What a place. And the fabulous additions to the community that have been completed in the last several years: The Community center and the Convenience store. the fabulous ( and shaded ) community swimming pool, the 19th hole restaurant, the breakfasts and dinners on the patio and the amazing view onto the golf course - these addtions bring it all home. There is enough there now for any who visit to have a awesome time stopping and resting - falling deep in stillness and beauty. And there's so much more development there - wanting to happen.

About: This casa is owned by several partners who live in Victoria, B.C. Two of the owners hang out in Loreto as much as possible.... Sally and Stu love to play, whether it's spoons and fiddle or incorporating humour and wellness into their work; Stu is a professional clown and Sal is a transformational coach and workshop leader. They love kayaking, snorkelling, swimming and beaching in Loreto Bay and dinner/music playing partying with all the friends they have met in this wonderful community. Their home has become a wonderful re-union spot for their kids, Ben (MTV series star of The Buried Life) and Emma-Professional Communications graduate. Twice they've driven 3000 miles to Loreto from Victoria with their kids and kayaks!
We loved the sustainable vision of our neighbourhood-pedestrian friendly, peaceful and devoid of highrise tourism. The option of connecting with our wonderful neighbours or maintaining ones privacy is a big bonus as well as the ocean and hiking recreational opportunities. Being so close to the sea for morning swims or kayaking and snorkelling, or walks around the golf course, the varied bird life and mountain hikes within such a peaceful setting is a delight.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Happy hour watching the sunsets from our expansive rooftop deck. The short stumble to the beach for early morning wake ups. The huge variety of tropical fish to see around Nopolo Rock at the end of our beach. Kayaking along the shores or pelican filled estuaries through the golf course, star gazing, happy hour sunsets from the rooftop. Stu's capuccino kitchen bar-open in the morning to neighbours perched on the mexican bar chairs.
