Boston house description

We opened June 2013 and hosting is an incredible experience. Two bedrooms each with a Queen size bed and lots of storage space.There is an office space (free wifi) with desk and chair. Television room with Satellite television, HBO. Ipod docking station,universal power adapter (however you should be out seeing Boston, not watching TV)..

Grill and picnic table in backyard and cook or walk to great restaurants. Soak in the energy of the city and pick from an endless supply of easy destinations. If you have a short term work assignment or business meeting here, this is a really great option.

One stop on Blue Line(toward Wonderland) from Logan Airport and bus from airport terminal to Blue Line. A bus the five blocks from Wood Island to Byron Street (bus 120) but an easy walk (ten minutes).Taxi service also available from airport- short fare ($8).There are 2 streets with same name in Boston, this is the one in East Boston. Tell Taxi driver BEFORE he leaves airport that your destination is in East Boston.

We will give you the combination to the lock pad and you will let yourself in and when you go out during your stay you will be responsible for closing the doors and locking up. It is important for the security of the house that guests make sure the doors are locked each time they go out.

Kids stroller, car seat, booster seat, scooter with helmet and a few kiddie stuff available. Some kids books (and adult) and games on bookshelves.

Additional inflatable bed available upon request. However this is not an invitation to bring along extra guests. We do not expect the number of guests to exceed the number we booked. In 2014 we will request the names of all guests in advance and within the first 24 hours of your arrival we will informally check you in and go over some of the basics. There is more responsibility staying in an entire 'flat or apartment' than occupying a hotel room.

So many places to eat close by the kitchen not getting much use. The menu collection is a work in progress. As one guest said 'A home away from home'.

We have had guests with dog and it worked fine. If you plan to bring your dog, please ask ahead of time and we will determine if your dog would be happy here.There is an enclosed fenced yard with direct access from the rear door.

There is no fee for additional guests because it is not an option.We know how many people the place can comfortably accommodate and we want our guests to leave happy.

Please leave the place as neat as you found it. We have housekeeping between guests but appreciate it when guests leave the place picked up (which so far they all have). If housekeeping neglects something, we appreciate you telling us.

WE cannot always be be flexible about check in and check out times because of housekeeping issues. Please check out by 11:00 A.M. on your departure day. CHeck in not before 3:P.M. Please ask ahead if this does not work for you. We can often be flexible.

Driving in Boston is not fun! You will probably be happier walking and using the excellent public transportation system. They sell 'Charlie Cards' at Logan and Wood Island which you will need to use the M.B.T.A. The staff is very helpful. THere is bus and taxi service from Wood Island to the house. Taxi must be called ahead of (website hidden) is a five block walk which takes about ten minutes.

Boston is a large city and we'll make sure you don't get overwhelmed. If you want, we will help you plan your stay.

Again. this place Accommodates two to three adults comfortably. Limit is three adults. Two adults with 2 children or teens will work but there is no crib here or real toddler or baby proofing. . This is a perfect place to stay while checking out colleges. Silver Line from Logan will get you to the Convention Center. We can't keep up with the new restaurants. Many guests have left us documentation and we have assembled it all that you may benefit from previous guests.




As you can see from Photo #1, the house is accessed by stairs because it sits high so would be difficult for anyone with mobility issues. In the winter it would be very difficult for anyone with mobility issues to navigate the snow and ice. Always Take care navigating the front stairs especially with luggage. It's an option to use the rear door for large suitcases.

Guests get the entire first floor , fully furnished. But it is a two family house. and the second floor tenant gets up early for work ( as does most of the neighborhood) so we request you respect the need for quiet in the evenings. Even Logan Airport shuts down after ten in the evening!!!

3 stops (less than 10 minutes) to downtown Boston and government buildings, hospitals, tourist sites.. Walk a few blocks to Constitution Beach. Enjoy the harbor walk. Walk to a feast of culinary delights. A rich source of historical destinations at your fingertips. From the Red Sox to the Boston Pops, Boston has it all! A wealth of activities twelve months of the year. Two blocks away is a Planet Fitness. Across the street a small children's playground and larger playgrounds at the beach. Take the Silver line from Logan Airport stop to get to the Convention Center and Seaport District or drive there in 10 minutes through Ted Williams Tunnel.Along the Esplanade and CHarles River there are Kayak rentals. The main branch of the Boston Public Library, The JOhn Hancock Tower, the list of destinations is endless.

If you tell me your interests, I will make some suggestions as to what you might find interesting. I can also tell you what to avoid. We are true Bostonians, sixth generation! We are also travelers which makes us able to know the things to make your stay a very positive experience. Just ask and we'll do whatever we can to guide you!! In truth we are absolutely amazed at some of the agendas our guests have managed without any assistance.

Enjoy your stay in Boston whether for work or pleasure and stay abreast of the latest trend. A guest house is the best way to experience Boston and the most economical. The residents/owners are away and while gone happy to have guests enjoy their space whatever circumstances brings them to Boston.

In the summer Boston is subject to afternoon and evening thunderstorms that can bring torrential rains, part of living on the ocean. There is one small drip that defies us after a new roof , new ceiling and 2 contractors. We are still working on it but for now have hung a plant underneath it (the self watering plant). Now we have gone a step further and created an indoor garden beneath it. It looks awesome and someone suggested we make the drip larger rather than try and stop it. For now consider it part of the charm and mystery of a 100 plus year old house. Update, we think it has been fixed!!! But now the plants are like old friends, so they remain for you to enjoy!!

The kitchen contains most everything you'd expect to find in a kitchen (coffee maker,blender, toaster,pots and pans,dishes and serving bowls, etc.). The shelves are stocked with oils, flour, sugar, spices,cereal, cookies etc. so you don't have to go out and shop for these things for your short stay. Coffee, cereal in cupboards. There is a 7/11 convenience store across the street.

Many places nearby do 'takeout' and'delivery'. Between that and the restaurants, bakeries, you will not go hungry.

It is a very old neighborhood (as is most of Boston). It is very multi cultural. The house was built around 1900 ( as most of Boston) but we have updated most everything (kitchen, bath,electrical,plumbing, etc). If you are looking for a modern contemporary house, this is not the house for you. Best description is typical circa 1900 property that has had lots of love and care. And a little creative ingenuity.

Tennis courts at beach . Walk two blocks to Planet Fitness.Children's playground right across the street and others at the beach.. Safe, family oriented neighborhood, of mostly well cared for, owner occupied homes.

East Boston is enjoying a Renaissance but according to former Boston Globe reporter, Bill Coughlin, it has always been one of Boston's best kept secrets. A secret no longer, Eastie has been gentrified, condominiumized, revitalized!!

The bookshelf in the hall way is for use by our guests. We encourage you to take a book to read on your plane ride. They are all in English but we are looking for some foreign language books to add to the collection. You will hear Italian and Spanish spoken almost everywhere.
