Los Pargos: a step back in time
You'll feel like you've stepped back in time when you stay in a Los Pargos vacation rental. This charming little fishing village along the Pacific coast in Costa Rica doesn't yet have paved roads and the main forms of transport are motorcycles, or the humble bicycle. Monkeys swing through the tropical foliage which hides the village houses. Things tick along at a different pace here – siestas are almost mandatory. While there's little in the way of attractions, what more do you need than a gorgeous white sandy beach and the lapping Pacific Ocean just moments away?

There's more to Los Pargos than meets the eye
Los Pargos might be small, but it has some of the best surf swells in the country rolling up to the beach. If you're a newbie to the sport, there's always someone in town who'll teach you how to pop up and stay up. Staying in a Los Pargos vacation rental opens up more than just the nearby beach, though. Along the coast you'll find some wonderful hiking trails that wind up to a waterfall, as well as horseback riding and even the odd yoga class. When the sun begins to set, grab a cold beer and watch the melting orange light drop behind the horizon.
Escape the cold climes for Los Pargos
If you're looking for the perfect weather, try to score a Los Pargos vacation rental between mid-December and April, when the climate is sunny and dry. Unsurprisingly, it's also the busiest season, with vacationers jetting in to escape the cold climes back home. If you want to save a few bucks and don't mind the odd afternoon shower, the rental prices take a nosedive the rest of the year. Pro tip: the rains take a short break between June and July and with fewer crowds on the beach, it might just be the best time to visit.
More than 850 species of bird near Los Pargos
Costa Rica is one of the most biodiverse places on earth and is home to more than 5% of the world's flora and fauna. Birdwatchers should make a beeline for Costa Rica, along with their binoculars, where they can tick off more than 850 species of recorded avifauna, including the dazzling hummingbird and the resplendent Quetzal. If birding isn't your thing, you'll surely be impressed by the 6 species of cat that live here, including jaguars and pumas, or watching monkeys swing by the windows of your Los Pargos vacation rental. You don't have to look hard to spot a colorful critter.
