“Alpenhill' is a cherished family retreat on spacious private grounds (.75 acre) including a large fenced yard, garage and two decks. Inside is a cabin-like interior , very well equipped 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a laundry room with a wood burning fireplace, stone hearth, plus a jacuzzi in the master suite and a private hot tub steps away, outside on the deck. We're on the main ski mountain and Free Bus route too, just walking distance or a few minutes drive to the gondola. Close by are groceries, restaurants, banks, ATMs, liquor stores, restaurants, medical care, pharmacies, plus mail & shipping services with downtown Steamboat is only 5 miles away. Although our location is convenient, our home is back from the road, in a quiet tree lined mountain neighborhood with a private setting of it's own surrounded by great views!
We provide high speed internet, DVD, VCR, HD/TV with DVR, and a family friendly DVD/ Video library for guests to use. A big oak dining table (expandable) provides a perfect place to gather around for nice meals at home. We are on ONE level and have many ADA features, so no one needs to be left behind due to age or disability. We are dog lovers, so we welcome well mannered dogs, but they must be approved prior and there is a small fee for pets that must be part of your payment. Please tell us about them in your inquiry (breed, age, if neutered, training). We also provide some helpful pet items you are welcome to use.
All rooms have good ventilation, ceiling fans and individual thermostats for comfortable stays in any season AND Air Conditioning for unusual warm summer afternoons. Our kitchen is very well equipped for stylish and memorable meals... inside or outside. This is not just a rental unit, but a real home with many extra comforts and lots of 'Western flair' like log beds and local wildlife photography. In fact, it looks like it may be the home of animal lovers and adventurers ... and IT IS!

Bedrooms have quality mattresses and bedding including "down" comforters in winter, shaded windows and quiet ceiling fans ..... all to make for good sleeping, summer or winter. The master bedroom has a beautiful log king bed, and glass doors facing the top of Mt Werner and opens on to the back deck & yard. WHAT a way to wake up!! The attached master bath includes a large jetted tub and separate shower. A second bedroom has another log bed (queen) and a third bedroom has twin beds and a queen sized sofa bed is in the living room. Need assistance during your stay? Caretakers live in an apartment on the property, completely separate with their own private entrance & yard, but are near by so can easily provide assistance if needed. They care for the grounds in summer and snow removal in winter, otherwise you probably will not see them. "Alpenhill' was made for good times, so just bring your loved ones (4 and 2 legged) and a smile and come ready to make your own memories.

Great property

Great property. Comfortable beds well stocked. base of the mountain was about a 5 minute drive., could be walkable, there’s also a free shuttle that runs to the mountain and stops right near the house. Everything worked really well. Hot tub was really nice. Would stay again.

Great House!

My family of 6 had a great stay at Cynthia‘s house. It was clean, spacious enough for all of us, and the kitchen was very well equipped. The location was perfect for access to the base at Steamboat and convenient to town. Cynthia was a very responsive host and the on-site property manager was also a great resource for us. I highly recommend this property!

Amazing place, had an amazing time

This place is a beautiful mountain cabin that's close to the steamboat bus line and the ski mountain. It's got everything you voice need in a ski cabin and I would definitely recommend it. When initially renting I didn't realize that it was a duplex but luckily the caretaker is super nice and helpful.

Good location and dog friendly

Close to all the resort action, less than five min drive to the slopes and also near the free bus. Tons of parking at the house. Cozy cabin with a homey feel, and not so fancy that you feel bad about having your dog there. Caretaker on site in below duplex but felt very private. Fenced yard for dogs is great but the fence may not be as high as the snow is deep if you rent it in the winter so be prepared to keep your dogs on a leash if they like to escape!

Champagne Pow!

We had a very nice Christmas holiday staying here and skiing. Ullr, the God of Skiing, favored us with fresh powder and there is nothing like skiing the aspen trees at the Boat in pow! The house was great - you can have your dog, there's a working wood stove, and a nice hot tub. Plenty of room for a family with 3 separate bedrooms! We will come back!

Great house/Janna was exceptional

Everything about this little house was great. The property manager was also so wonderful!!! The only thing that was abit deceiving was the location. By looking at the photos we assumed this property was in a rural area. -NOPE- great location….close to everything BUT is surrounded closely by other homes. Thank you for having us!! Enjoy all your snow! Overall a wonderful little house!!

Perfect for Entire Family

We come to Steamboat Springs every year after Christmas. This is an excellent place to stay for a family, especially a family with a dog. We had 2 teenagers, one set of in-laws, and ourselves for a total of 6 and the eating/cooking situation was perfect. The kitchen had everything we needed. We also brought our dog. The fenced in back yard was perfect for her. The on-site hosts were super helpful as well. It's a 1 mile walk to the slopes which we did often with our dog, or to ski it's a 2-3 minute car ride. We will definitely consider staying here next year.

Great location. Had a hiccup we hope will be resolved.

This house is in a perfect location. It is cozy. Unfortunately, when we arrived there was no hot water. The wonder was able to fix the issue on the third day of our trip. She agreed to reimburse us for those days without hot water and for admittance to a hot springs in order to shower and has not yet sent reimbursement. We do hope this will be resolved respectfully but the review is due now so this is where the situation stands. I have reached out to the property owner multiple times seeking payment as well as to VRBO for help. The on-site property care-taker was kind, responsive, and worked hard to help us.

Great place to be based out of for skiing

This house worked great for us for a ski trip. It also was great for traveling with dogs! The beds were very comfortable and there were lots of extras to make the stay more comfortable such as dog blankets and pillows for our pups, kitchen with all the things needed for cooking, a programmable coffee maker, lots of towels and designated dog towels, etc. The driveway is steep and a bit muddy with the runoff so I was glad we had our SUV with. The bus stop is about .25 miles from the house. We did have a little bit of a snafu in checking in since the house was apparently trashed by the last guests so when we arrived at 4:30 we weren’t able to get until the caretaker finished cleaning at 8:30. The caretaker was accommodating though and let us store stuff and put our dogs in their crate in the garage until it was ready. We just went to town and ended up having dinner out rather than cooking as expected. It was nice to have a backyard with the pups although the snow was up to the top of the fence so it did not contain them. This would be a better amenity in the summer. Overall I recommend and my family and I would stay here again.

Dog- and family-friendly cabin in a good location

The 3 bedroom cabin (duplex) was large enough for our family of 4 plus Grandma and Grandpa and laid out well. That said, fitting 8 in there would have been a bit cramped. We especially enjoyed the cozy TV area, large master bedroom/bathroom, hot tub, back deck and yard for the dogs to expend some energy (however, note that .76 acres does not describe the size of the yard available as only a portion is fenced and a portion of that is not mowed). The kitchen was well stocked which made making meals easy (however, the can labeled "charcoal" on the deck was empty which put a damper on our BBQ as the grocery was 10-15 min drive away). The location was GREAT as we were able to walk to the base area (~15 min) and other trails. The cons: the cabin is a little older and could have used more attention to maintenance (some of the screens had holes which let in bugs, one of the ceiling fans wasn't working right, etc), the décor IS a little cluttered which we found quaint on the one hand but when you have Christmas decorations along with 4th of July decorations it also made me question how often the place was maintained. And note that it is a duplex which wasn't a problem (and the caretaker was very friendly and quiet) except his side (including the garage) was even more cluttered. But the property was very clean and comfortable, in a good location, had great amenities and welcomed dogs so we would consider staying there again next time we visit.

We prefer to rent to groups of 6 or less. The nearest large grocery is a City Market about 2 miles away (in Central Park Plaza) and a small one only 1/2 mile away. We supply many things, including a container for your charcoal so it will not get wet on the deck, but not the charcoal, sorry. Many owners, like us leave out a few Christmas items to remind us of the coming snows, all year long.... it is a "mountain thing".

Our stay at the house was quite nice.

We came to ski; the property is right up the road from the resort. As listed it is a short walk to the nearest shuttle stop. The hot tub is outstanding! The wood burning stove keeps the living area quite warm. The kitchen has sufficient equipment to make meals. There is a more than sufficient supply of towels of all kinds, including designated dog towels. The sleeping spaces are spacious, warm and cozy. We greatly enjoyed the fenced yard. It was a nice place to stay.

Feels like home

We enjoyed our stay. The small house has a cabin like feel. It appears to be well loved and has the nice little touches of home. We had three dogs and they loved exploring the back yard. The location is not too far from town. Overall we had a great stay.

Great property. Wish we had known the a/c was a single window unit in the kitchen versus central air. Took a few days to learn how to manage the indoor temps. Everything else was good.

Great and accommodating house!!!

My family and I (plus 2 dogs) stayed here for a week during Spring Break. It was absolutely perfect for us. The listing is spot on. Very clean and the owners were very responsive. We throughly enjoyed our stay. The wood burner, hot tub and large fenced in yard were an added bonus. We will definitely stay here again.

Great dog friendly home!

We rented the house over Xmas with our dogs in tow and it was a perfect place to stay in Steamboat. It was really well equipped with a completely fenced yard so our escape artist couldn’t get out and had plenty of room to run around. Very dog friendly with dog towels and beds provided. The master bed is sooo comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked with cook and bakeware. It was an added bonus that we could keep one car parked in the garage.

Incredible Clean and well managed property. Alex the on site manager was very helpful for any immediate needs. Cynthia the owner was very helpful during the check in process making sure we made it ok and everything was to our standards. We appreciated the great location and stay.

Love Steamboat!

Property was as advertised. Appreciate that it had a fenced in yard for our dog. The caretaker’s side of the duplex was sometimes loud (they seemed to have guests for part of our stay). Alex was responsive in completing minor repairs needed during our stay. Also appreciated the early checkin arranged with the lovely owner Cynthia. . Loved access to the ski village via walking or biking. A suggestion would be to have recycling options since Steamboat is working on that. Will definitely be back to Steamboat!!!

Our stay at Alpenhill

The house is comfortable and well stocked for extended stays. The homeowner, Cynthia, was wonderful and always receptive to questions or concerns. However, Cynthia is managing from afar. Issues with the caretaker and caretaker’s family (who live in the attached apartment alongside and below) need to be addressed. Caretaker’s dog barks a lot, music can be heard, communication is difficult.

Covid-19 Holiday

My wife and I were looking for a cozy place in the mountains to spend time with our kids home from college for the holidays. This property was just what we wanted, clean, close to the mountain and space for our dog to join us. I would hope to stay here again when we are in Steamboat in the future.

The owner, a designer and wildlife and animal lover and avid skier, moved 'Out West', years ago and then discovered Steamboat for her family's second home. 'Alpenhill' was selected due to it's prime location with private grounds, so family dogs could come along. The original large single family home was remodeled to include a separate caretaker's apartment to ensure on site care year round.
