Formidable!

  • 5 of 5

Road access to the house is good with sufficient parking on site for 2 cars with additional parking available off-road opposite the property.

The property is within a very low density housing development, very quiet with little passing traffic. The house is superb and is as described and shown on the website. It is clean, modern, extremely well equipped together with being a little quirky with kitchen/dining areas both up and downstairs, allowing the house to be occupied on two different levels. The upstairs lounge/kitchen/dining area has air conditioning which is a boon in the hotter months.

There is always somewhere to sit in the shade or to seek solitude. We liked to take breakfast on the balcony on the eastern side and watch Sarlat come alive and then again on an evening to watch the lights come on in and around Sarlat. Meals were generally taken at the big outside table on the south side. Given that the temperatures peaked in excess of 38 DegC whilst we were there, we were grateful for both the pool and the jacuzzi, which were well used!

Because of the high temperatures we only managed 1 short trip away, to la Roque Gageac where we enjoyed a boat trip on the river Dordogne. Most days we went into Sarlat la Canéda, which is a lovely, clean medieval town with lots of hidden gems to find. Very touristy but has not yet become a victim of its own success. Wednesday there was a market held within its streets followed by street music in differing locations. The (english) rock band were superb and had the “beautiful” people up on their feet dancing! Restaurants are too many to mention, allowing you to buy whatever food type you want, boulangeries too!

Access on foot from the house to the town was via a 10 minute walk, with a 15 minute walk back because of the need to climb a steepish hill, which could make difficulties for those with any walking impediment.

M. Olivier Trémouille was very helpful and attentive. We communicated our eta via text and were met by Maîtée who showed us around and explained how the essentials worked. Neither Olivier nor Maîtée are big on english, for my part, if there was a law against murdering the french language, I would have been guillotined, but we did manage to communicate OK.

If you book, you will commit to a 60%ish non refundable deposit and, on arrival, a refundable “caution” of 750€ in cash, to cover any damage.

Our only regret was that our stay was for 1 week, . . . however . . à la prochaine!

Perfection

  • 5 of 5

Hard to believe but the pictures don't do it justice. This is a beautiful home - stylish yet comfortable. It is a ten minute walk from town, in a very quiet neighbourhood; a tranquil oasis after a day of sight seeing. The outdoor areas offer plenty of options from a rooftop view of Sarlat to pool-side relaxation. Unfortunately, the weather didn't give us the opportunity to enjoy these as much as we would have liked. We spent a great week here and hated to leave.

Perfect place!!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here in Sarlat in Sept 2016, and everything about this place was amazing. If you can believe it the house is even better than the amazing pictures, everything you could ever want or need on holiday. Not sure which was our favorite spot, on the upper deck having breakfast overlooking the city, or relaxing by the pool after a long day of castle visits. Olivier and his wife were fantastic hosts, very patient with our very limited French and quick to respond to any questions. We will be back!!

Terrific

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Olivier’s for eight days over the end of May/beginning of June 2016.

We were a party of five, four adults and a three and a half year old.

The villa was perfect for our needs. The villa seemed bigger than on the photos. There was plenty of room inside and a number of outdoor spaces to follow, or chase, the sun, dine outside or find peace and quiet if needed.

The location, just up a hill from the centre of Sarlat was terrific. Far enough away from the bustle of town but an easy stroll down to the boulangerie in the morning and bars and restaurants in the evening.

The villa is well equipped, with plenty of towels for the pool and Jacuzzi and the pictures on the website are all accurate.

The swimming pool was a great success particularly with the youngest member of our party whose swimming came on in leaps and bounds. The water temperature was fine for messing around in the sun, and just as pleasant for messing around in the rain. The Jacuzzi added to the fun.

We were met on arrival by Marie Te and shown around the villa with controls to both the pool and Jacuzzi explained. There were also some printed instructions to hand. We met Olivier when he dropped in to maintain the pool but otherwise we communicated mainly by text which worked well. We had one self inflicted problem with the Jacuzzi which was quickly solved and also received updates on the varied strikes that were talking place if Olivier thought they might have an impact on our travel plans.

This is certainly one of the nicest holiday lets that we have stayed. We had a great time and would gladly do it all over again.

AMAZING PROPERTY AMAZING LOCATION WONDERFUL HOSTS

  • 5 of 5

We can't speak highly enough of this house! Our stay there was one of the highlights of our holiday! We are a family with 4 children and the house accommodated us perfectly. We all enjoyed being there, we loved the swimming pool, the wonderful views, the location, and the house itself.

The house was amazing and exceeded our expectations - it was perfectly clean, and very fresh and new. There were many luxuries and superb amenities, from automated shutters to block out light and heat, to a coffee machine, huge bathrooms, plenty of fresh towels, a laundry... Everything (the iron, the hairdryer, the dvd player...) was clean and so easy to use!

We thoroughly enjoyed the balcony upstairs, with gorgeous views of the medieval town. We loved to sit there for a meal made up of our Sarlat market purchases... In terms of location, the house is a mere 10 minute walk from the town centre, whilst at the same time feeling so remote, in a very very quiet and green neighbourhood.

As for the host, we ended up arriving in Sarlat at midnight due to train strikes on the day. We asked Olivier to leave us some keys somewhere outside the house so as not to disturb anyone at that hour. Olivier picked us up, along with a friend in a second car, to take our family of 6, to the house and show us around. We were so very thankful because with 4 young children it was a challenging arrival time, to say the least! As well, the host was most hospitable, with generosity demonstrated by a fridge and pantry containing some much appreciated, and thoughtful basics, as well as a bottle of wine which we enjoyed very much!

We would recommend this house to anyone, families, couples, singles - it's a guaranteed joy to stay in!

Le top!

  • 5 of 5
