We like to call this paradise! The main cabin includes a solarium for bird watching and real rock fireplace. Beautifully landscaped with fire pit, swing and decking overlooking the lake. The guest house includes a whirlpool tub, game room and it's own private deck. Bunkhouse is great for kids or those who want privacy. All three have heat, AC and internet and direct tv. Gazebo has hot tub. The front lawn is big enough for lawn games or just hanging out. A canoe comes with the rental and pontoon is available for rent. Fishing for northerns, walleyes and panfish are good right off the dock. Swim off the end of the dock or simply head around the corner for sandy public beach. Amenities include two full kitchens, Direct TV & internet, three fridges, two sets of front load laundry. The owners, Mark and Kathy, live across the road in what is know as the "Curiosity Cabin" where you and your family can get a free painting or music experience. We look forward to your stay! We give breaks for longer stays and do not charge extra for cleaning. We love meeting new people!

Mark and Kathy Haen purchased this Cabin in 1997
Why Mark and Kathy Haen chose Atwater
We have been working on this property for almost twenty years! What we initially loved about was the privacy and relaxing atmosphere.
What makes this Cabin unique
Because the property has three separate buildings for sleeping it is more private than most. If you like woodsy rooms, there is plenty here. The property on the lakeside of the cabin is tiered into three levels. It's just lush! Set up for a relaxing getaway.

Cabins were great and we had so much fun! Thanks Mark and Kathy. The curiosity cabin was a blast - thanks so much!!
Paradise Cures What Ails Ya'! Woods, Water & What-not. It's like Home as you could only imagine it!
Recently we had an EXCELLENT weekend! It felt surreal to several gals & myself as we explored every nook & cranny, which we probably didn't even cover all of the crannies!
Nicely sprawled out for a lakeside place, Its main cabin, guesthouse, bunkhouse & gazebo were all warm & comfy. Each building had cool & fun stuff to look at as well as the gorgeous hand-laid italian(?) marble tiles to beautiful log furniture. We had a really great time lounging in the gazebo's hot tub to playing games in the main cabin's living room sitting next to the fireplace.
Mark is an incredible "people person" host, who sincerely cares about his guests. His guidance made everything "user friendly" & this place is like coming home.
We started out as five tightly -wound women; from hard-working employees, mothers of small children and pre - holiday anxiety. We left there happy, grateful & refreshed ladies who experienced bonding, serenity & the type of spirituality that only nature can provide.
This was such a lovely weekend! We didn't allow for extra time to "jam" in the music/art hall. We did take a quick peek with Mark, but we'll leave that for next time...because there WILL be a next time!!! -- Colleen B.
Cozy cabin, great host!
My group of girlfriends had a blast this past weekend at the cabin. The hot tub on a chilly night was the best - plenty of towels for everyone. Sleeps 12 but if you want everyone to have a bed it sleeps 7-9 comfortably. SUPER comfortable beds and the fireplaces made the living spaces super cozy. Even the cots were comfortable. Thanks for the bottle of wine and a great stay!
a beautiful place
2nd time my 2 boys and I have stayed there. A great place.
Both cabins were lovely. Setting is beautiful. Cabins are stocked with games and activites so there was lots to do even though the weather was uncooperative. We'd definitely go back!
We did a girls weekend and it was a perfect space for it. Thanks for the good times!

Local Dining Options in the Willmar Lakes Area
It is approaching lunchtime and I ponder…what to have for lunch today? I realize there are so many great options to choose from in the Willmar Lakes Area.
Some of our favorite local restaurants include:
Johnny O’Neil’s in Spicer – this is one of my favorite places to go! They have incredible food, a warm and inviting atmosphere and live music weekly. On my last trip to O’Neil’s, I had the Turkey and Wild Rice Flatbread. It was made with hand-pulled Jennie-O Turkey and Minnesota-grown wild rice. It was amazing and I would definitely recommend trying it.
Westwood Café in Spicer – this family friendly restaurant has a wide variety of menu options. I really like their Minnesota Crunch and their Chicken Spinach salads. They also have wonderful breakfasts that are served all day long and daily lunch specials.
Middle Fork Café in New London –The Middle Fork Café is often a stop for me while visiting the specialty shops in downtown New London. On my last trip there, I had a great lunch with my family. I had the Chicken Salad sandwich, which was to die for. We enjoyed our delicious meals on the patio, while watching the hustle and bustle of downtown New London. The Middle Fork Café also has incredible desserts, which you must try while visiting.
McKale’s in New London – has a diverse menu of home cooked food! Your entire family will find something great to eat at McKale’s Family Restaurant. They serve breakfast all day and have amazing caramel rolls. If you are staying at a local resort or a campground, you may want to try out their Take-N-Bake pizzas.
The Handle Bar in Atwater – they have great daily home cooked lunch specials. The food is always wonderful and the price is right. They also have great happy hour specials. My favorite food at The Handle Bar is the Hickory Burger, but on my bucket list is The Handle Bar Burger. It is the town’s favorite burger with peanut butter, habanero jelly and pepper jack cheese.
The Food Garage in Lake Lillian – this unique café’s décor pays homage to the past, when this now restaurant was actually a Ford garage. Great food, fun décor and worth the stop in Lake Lillian.
Kaffestua in Sunburg – down home Scandinavian style dining in an informal atmosphere. Klub, Rommegrot and Lutefisk are all served on special occasions. Other times, you will get delicious home style cooking.
Ruff’s Wings and Sports Bar in Willmar – they have incredible boneless wings!! Try them on Sunday as an order is only $5.99. Honestly, they are better than some of the chain restaurants that are famous for their wings. They also have excellent burgers. My favorite is the Smokehouse but you can’t go wrong with any of them. They have weekday specials and live music every Friday night.
Azteca in Willmar – excellent authentic Mexican food. All your favorites and more! Great food and excellent prices.
Jake’s Pizza in Willmar – one of the area’s best pizza places. All fresh ingredients and handmade dough. Be sure to try the Taco Pizza!
Frieda’s in Willmar – a hidden gem in downtown Willmar! Frieda’s is a family owned café that offers exceptional homemade food. They have daily lunch specials, but arrive early as this home cooked food sells out fast! Breakfast is also exceptional! While in the Willmar Lakes Area, this is a must stop!
Yep, I am officially ready for lunch… but how will I ever decide?
