Family Getaway in Historic Village | Fenced Pool & Lush Gardens


Villa Satra is a 190 sq.m two-storey, stone built villa, located on one of the highest spots of the village offering views on the Cretan Sea, Mt. Psiloritis and the whole area. The villa was formally an oil factory built in 19 century and in 1949 it was converted to a residence with the addition of the first floor. Now it has been fully renovated (2012) and transformed into a comfortable villa with combination of the modern and traditional style. Villa Satra can accommodate 8 guests in its 4 bedrooms and up to 10 if needed. All the interiors are cozy and tastefully decorated with wooden and iron furniture, elegant drapery and curios.
Entering the villa on the ground floor, the living room area provides a complete entertainment area, as the TV corner has a DVD player, satellite TV and WiFi connection.The fully equipped kitchen has all the essentials (such as electric oven, microwave, fridge and freezer, dishwasher, coffee machine, toaster and washing machine).
There is also a bedroom with two single beds and a bathroom with shower on the ground floor.
On the first floor there are three more bedrooms, two with double bed and one with two single beds. This floor has two bathrooms and one is an en-suite bathroom with a double room.
Outdoor area

The exterior of Villa Satra, is a relaxing holiday haven, filled with plants and flowers, promising to take your worries way. The outdoor facilities include:
- A 40 sq.m. private swimming pool. The pool can also be heated for the entire stay with an additional daily charge.
- The pool area is equipped with a hammock, sun beds, umbrellas and an outdoor shower for your comfort.
- Fully equipped barbecue facilities including a charcoal grill and a traditional wood oven.

- Outdoor dining table for al fresco dining.
- A ping pong table for you to enjoy.
- A lawn-covered area next to the pool, perfect for our young guests to play!
- In a lower level there is a large fenced plot of land which has vegetable gardens and fruits trees to which you can help yourselves and enjoy with your meals!
- Parking space inside the villa premises.
- The whole outdoor area is totally private and fenced, offering full privacy to our guests.

The Villa is located in Eleftherna village. Eleftherna village has some traditional cafeterias, a tavern where they also offer nice breakfast and a mini market.
Our village is one of the most well known villages in the whole Greece for the historical site and the newly built museum which are a stone-throw away from our villa! The archaeological site and the Museum of Ancient Eleftherna are worth a visit for discovering and feeling the ancient history of the area.Our family will give you all the information that you might need about the area and also inform you for activities that you can do around!

A gem in the mountains

We had a fabulous stay in villa satra. Everything was thought of. Hospitality was excellent . Greeted us with cheese fruit and the local alcohol at midnight. Really surprised that the villa was cleaned twice in our 9 day stay. Kostas very hospitable.

Very recommendable!

We spent 2 wonderful weeks with 4 adults and 4 teenagers in this villa. Kostas and his family were incredibly friendly and took care of us, but not pushy. After each cleaning of the house, we had delicious surprises waiting for us: homemade cake, olive oil, ice cream, fresh fruit and vegetables. The pool was always clean and provided a lot of fun and refreshment. The village is situated in a quiet area in the mountains. We had rented a car and explored the island. Without a rental car it will be difficult to leave the village. All in all the villa is highly recommended, we felt very comfortable. Thank you for everything!

Satra Villa ...... Fantastic holiday enjoyed by all the family!

We have just returned from our 10 day family holiday in Crete and have had the best holiday. The villa is spacious, beautifully decorated and equipped with everything you need. The fenced pool area made a safe environment for our 2 year old grandson to enjoy the garden and terrace as well as providing lots of fun for everyone. The villa was cleaned and sheets changed every 3 days, the rubbish was taken away daily, fresh flowers on arrival, and we were showered with gifts of cheese, bread, fruit and vegetables, raki and olive oil throughout our stay, including a lovely homemade cake! Kostas and the management team provided exemplary service to make our stay so fantastic. Great tavernas in the village, and other nearby villages, with inexpensive traditional food and very friendly service. The area is extremely beautiful with stunning views, great walking and so many places to visit to suit all tastes and ages. More than highly recommended!

Don’t hesitate booking this beautiful villa if you need a peaceful vacation in the Creatan mountains. The villa and the sourrounding is clean and well maintained and both the owner and the rental management are extremely friendly, responsive and professional. Having rented villas throughout the Mediterranean area for the last many years Villa Satra is definitely in our top two!

Nice Holiday

It is a really nice house, and we truely enjoyed our stay. The house was very clean with very pleasent rooms - Very cozy. (some of the beds where a little hard). Three bathrooms was nice for our big family. The environment in generel was very nice and the kids enjoyed it a lot. The pool is fenced which was super as our youngest is only 1 year old. Both the owner and the agency gives a unique service and are genuine friendly. The owner gave us olive oil, cakes, eggs etc. If any problems he solved it right away. Things to be aware of: The pictures (from outside) are "oversold". The garden (grass) was only app. 3*4 meters, so we missed space for childrens activities. We have the last 7 years rented more than 12 houses. Normally remote houses have plenty of outdoor space which is not the case here. (E.g.: Is the parkingspace only 2*3 m - I.e.: Only space for one micro or small vehicle.). We had to park our van somewhere else. Also relevant to notice: Driving time to nearest supermarket is 25 min. (each way) and 35 min. to the nearest beach. But all in all a nice place.

Perfekt, wunderschön und herzlich

Wir waren Ende Mai 2016 für 10 Tage in der Villa und haben es absolut wunderbar getroffen mit diesem schönen Haus und der fantastischen Umgebung. Das gesamte Haus war super sauber (es wurde alle 3 Tage gereinigt, inkl. frischer Handtücher), der Pool wurde jeden Tag gereinigt. Insgesamt war der Service so gut, wie wir es nur selten kennen. Der Außenbereich ist sehr schön mit vielen Blumen und Kräutern angelegt. Aber vor allem der Gemüsegarten mit dem Zitronen- und Orangenbaum ist toll. Wir durften uns an allen Gartenfrüchten bedienen :). Kostas brachte uns Kuchen, selbstgemachtes Olivenöl und Wein. Es gibt im Innenhof einen Außengrill und einen Steinofen (sehr zu empfehlen um Pizza und Brot selber zu backen!). Die Besitzer des Hauses sind wirklich extrem aufmerksam und gastfreundlich, wir haben uns deshalb auch rund um wohl gefühlt. Im kleinen Ort Eleftherna gibt es zudem 2 kleine Tavernen, die fußläufig in 5 min zu erreichen sind (das ist Essen ist perfekt), auch ein kleiner Supermarkt ist vorhanden (ca. 10 min zu Fuß). Wir würden diese Villa jedem empfehlen, der das echte griechische Dorfleben kennenlernen möchte, ab von den Touristenhochburgen. Wir kommen definitv im nächsten Jahr wieder in die Villa Satra! Absolutely fantastic!

We just arrived back from a 2 week stay in the fantastic Villa Satra. What can we say? The whole thing, from booking to arrival to (sadly) departure was perfect. The villa is lovely, as is the setting, but this is only part of it. On arrival Kostas, who owns the villa, was waiting to greet us. He was so friendly, showing us round the villa and pointing out anything we needed to know. He soon left us to unpack, whilst the kids rapidly made there way to the pool! But it wasn't the last we saw of him. He called round occasionally to ensure we had everything we needed and at the same time bringing us a selection of tasty treats, ranging from freshly picked tomatoes and vegetables to delicious home-cooked chocolate deserts and wine from his own vineyard. He really was the perfect host. We even got invited to watch a traditional Cretan wedding that was taking place in the village. It was so interesting and something we would never usually get the opportunity to experience. The villa is beautiful. Plenty of space, although we spent most of our time outside as that's what we prefer. When not eating out we cooked outside. The villa has an excellent barbeque area and pizza / bread oven. The pool is great. When we were at the villa this is where the kids spent most of their time and they had a brilliant time. There are plenty of seats, sunbeds and also pool games and inflatables. All in all it was probably the best holiday experience we have had, also helped by the weather, which was also perfect for the whole 2 weeks! I cannot recommend this villa highly enough really. A couple of other mentions. Kostas Vasilakis (a different Kostas) who we booked the villa with was extremely professional. I believe his company is Etouri. His communication was excellent, always responding quickly and providing all information needed. And Kostas (the owner) and some of his family came round every few days to clean the villa. They worked hard at this and left the place spotless, with nice clean towels. This was a really nice touch as we felt they really wanted everything to be perfect for us. And it was. We will definitely be returning and our only concern whilst writing this review is that we are sharing this gem with others!

Idyllic getaway in a delightful villa

We rented this house for a week for a family vacation of three generations and everyone loved it. The house is lovingly renovated to preserve its historic character and yet provide every modern comfort. We enjoyed charming touches like a spiral staircase and masonry walls and the kids spent hours in the lovely pool while the adults lounged on the patio. It is just as nice as the photos and description on the site suggest. Everything was spotless. The owner and his family treated us to fresh picked fruits and vegetables from the garden, a home made cake, and help with anything we asked. It is in a small village up in the hills where you can walk to a taverna and a market, and about 25 minutes drive to the coast where there are beaches and shops. (A car is a must). We enjoyed seeing the sheep and goat flocks and the beautiful countryside. There is an ancient site nearby that is being excavated and we walked down to see the old ruins. Highly recommended for a relaxing, comfortable and quiet vacation retreat.

Dejlig villa med meget gæstfrie værter.

Ejeren og hans familie var meget gæstfrie. Der var blomster, vin, olie og frugt og grønsager ved ankomsten, og vi fik en hjemmebagt kage.. Villaen var flot og dejlig indrettet med alt hvad man kunne ønske sig. Landsbyen, som villaen ligger i, er charmerende og autentisk. Vi havde en pragtfuld ferie og ville gerne komme tilbage.

Excellente adresse

Nous avons passé 2 semaines idylliques en famille (7 personnes de 6 à 64 ans) dans cette belle maison de famille restaurée et aménagée avec goût. La maison parfaitement bien équipée, sa piscine, sa terrasse, sa pelouse et le petit jardin potager sont d'une propreté irréprochables, et, certains jours, nous n'avions même pas envie de visiter tellement nous nous sentions bien ; d'autant que la légère altitude permet de ne pas être écrasé par la chaleur estivale. Le propriétaire, Kostas, et toute sa famille, ont le sens de l'accueil et pleins de gentilles attentions. Le village d'Eleftherna est tranquille, mais il y a quand même une petite épicerie et deux tavernes ; les habitants sont souriants. La maison est un bon point de départ pour visiter une bonne partie de la Crète, ses vestiges archéologiques, ses vieilles villes, ses petits villages, ses plages, sans oublier de savourer de bons petits plats dans les tavernes. Vous ne pourrez pas visiter toute la Crète d'Est en Ouest car, même si les distances ne sont pas très longues, les routes ne sont pas toujours rectilignes....Mais, en Crète, on y revient !
