Luxurious villa with huge garden & private Heated pool in paradise environment

Villa Melitta is a noble house built by George Hatzidakis. He used all his research into traditional architecture and put all his love into the house. The project was finished in 2004. In the middle of a 5000 sq.m fruit grove, rises a small palace, reminding us of a Venetian villa. Melitta is situated just outside of the village of Melidoni, in a quiet environment with a broad and beautiful view of the Tallaia mountains and Psiloritis. There is a wide variety of trees in its huge garden – orange, olive, pear, apple, and peach trees – offering fruits throughout the year. There are also flowers and organically grown vegetables in the backyard of the house. The house covers 250 M2 and there are 5 bedrooms – 2 on the ground floor and 3 on the upper floor – which can accommodate 10 persons, or even 12 if you use the two sofa beds of the sitting room. It has a tasteful interior and there are two verandas on the upper floor, offering you a choice of the view you prefer.


Further Details for The Villa In Rethymno,Crete: The nearest airport of Heraklion (HER) is located 50 km east of the villa, while the port of Rethymnon lies at a distance of 29 km. The airport of Chania (CHQ) is another 90km to the west, that is a 1 hour 30 min drive. A car rental can be arranged to pick you up at the airport and drive you to your villa.
As the owners cooperate with a car rental company you have the opportunity to hire cars in unique prices!!!
The nearest beach of Bali lies at a distance of 6 km, it is sandy and offers many opportunities for water sports. There are also quiet locations for guests to enjoy the beach without being annoyed by nearby jet-skiers or water-skiers. The sandy beach of Panormo offers you a second choice for swimming near the area. There are plenty of beautiful beaches in the area also!
There are some interesting excursions you can go in Kastri, Melidoni and the outskirts. The distances and routes are shown on the map in the web page.

The garden area is 5000 sq.m. Inside the garden there is a kiosk, BBQ area, beautiful plants, fruit trees and many corners to relax. There is also a 50 M2 adult swimming pool and a 12 M2 children’s swimming pool.
The discreet stone wall surrounding the gardens and the cool shade of the house offer privacy and, you will feel that, time passes by at your own pace, offering you a sense of childish happiness.

Great Villa with lovely garden

We really enjoyed our stay at the villa. It has all you need and our welcome was great. The little town is a 5 min walk away and has 2 nice restaurants.

We had a great experience at this villa which ticked all the boxes. The pool, pool area, bbq area, grass areas are all perfect and the villa is sited just out of the village of Melidoni so whilst nice and quiet it was only a 5 minute wander to the centre of the village and it's amazing restaurant and chilled out small centre. The owners were very generous with their initial gifts and helpful with any needs but also allowed privacy for the party. This is certainly one villa we would want to come back and stay again at. Definitely recommend to anyone.

2nd time visiting

This was our second trip to this villa and it didn't disappoint. We love the garden and pool, and enjoyed grilling and making pizza's in the outdoor oven. The village is also wonderful and part of why we came back. It is charming and authentic. There is plenty of space in the house, which is well stocked with everything you need. The hosts are super nice and attentive. The kitchen knives are due for sharpening - but everything else was great. Hope to come back again for a 3rd visit!!

Lovely villa. Bedrooms and bathrooms were great. Wonderful large pool with sunbeds and parasols. Kitchen had everything we needed and there was a large BBQ . Only small suggestion, would have been nice to have more information about where to go for supermarkets (Perama), restaurants (Panormo) and best beaches (worth the drive to the south coast).

Beautiful private Villa with a wonderful view

The villa is really beautiful with wonderful views and a great pool! Communication was great. Our highlights were the pool, the BBQ and baking pizza and bread in the stone oven in the garden. The fresh figs, grapes and lemons from the garden were also delicious. The closest beach is about 15 mins drive from the Villa.

Fantastic villa

I cannot impress upon people how idillic this villa is. It is set near a very small village with peaceful, beautiful surroundings. The villa itself has all the amenities one would require, and the inside is is fabulous condition. There was a maid service twice a week and she did a marvelous job keeping the 5 star villa clean and today. Highly recommend this place for anyone planning a holiday to Crete.

Lovely week in a paradise

Our family with 9 persons age 20 yrs to 76 yrs had a wonderful time in Villa Meltemi in the beginning of September 2024. We enjoyed our days in the garden, in the pool area and also had a BBQ night. Our son with special needs and using manual wheelchair loved the villa and the Garden, too and had no problems going around with a little assistance. The location is perfect for exploring the other parts of the island, too. We were very warmly welcomed and everything was smoothly organized by the owner.

Family time at Villa Melitta

3generations of our family have just enjoyed a wonderful relaxing holiday at Villa Melitta with its lovely garden and beautiful views. The Hatzidakis family were very kind and helpful . We decided to have the pool heated, as quite early in the season , and this was a huge success and much enjoyed by all the family. There is a good taverna in the unspoilt village of Melidoni and pleasant beaches within easy reach. Overall a great success!

Luxury vacation in paradise

We were a family of nine from the age of 11 to 76 years. We got a warm welcome and a tour in the house and garden. We were excited about the “Kiosk” on the ground? In Denmark it is a small shopping place 😜 It was a nice terrace with a pergola above - lovely. We will at any time recommend the house to larger families- and others who want a quiet vacation in luxury

The villa was exactly as advertised and exceeded our expectations. The owner and family were extremely welcoming and helpful, as was everyone we encountered in Meldoni village which was a short walk away. The facilities in the villa provided everything we needed. The barbecue area was a great social area as was the shaded outside terrace, with ample seating and bespoke tables. The swimming pools were absolute gems, loved by the children especially. The gardens were well maintained and the views of the surrounding area were spectacular. We loved our stay at the villa and hope we can return one day.

A brilliant venue for a family holiday

We had a brilliant week at Villa Melitta in early April. We were a group of 4 adults and 5 children from 4-9 and fitted perfectly in the house. The kids loved playing all round the gardens and would collect oranges to give us a neverending supply of delicious fresh juice. We paid to heat the pool which made it swimmable at this time of year (but still pretty chilly). We enjoyed a delicious BBQ with meat from one of the butchers in Parama. The villa is ideally located for lots of places to visit but one unexpected highlight was Reptisland which is right next door. The kids loved being shown and handling snakes and lizards - the owner was brilliant at sharing his knowledge and love of reptiles.

Loved Villa Melitta

Just returned from an amazing 2 week stay at Villa Melitta. Lovely welcome basket on arrival and friendly greeting from the owners. Facilities were perfect, beautiful outdoor space, lovely pool with separate kids pool. Lots of great areas to sit outside in garden with a large shaded area perfect to get out of the sun for lunch. We also made use of the bbq and wood fire pizza oven. Spacious indoors with 2 bedrooms, 1 with en-suite, and separate bathroom downstairs and 3 bedrooms, 1 with en-suite, and separate bathroom upstairs. We were a group of 2 families with young children (aged 5 and 2 x 18 months) and Antonis was really helpful with any questions prior to arrival and confirming use of cots, high chairs and stair gates etc. We would definitely recommend Villa Melitta.

Wer einen entspannten Urlaub mit mehreren Personen in einer schönen Umgebung am Rande deines Dorfes mit einer wundervollen Taverne machen möchte, ist in der geräumige und geschmackvoll eingerichteten Villa Melitta mit dem traumhaften Garten bestens aufgehoben. Es war ein perfekter Urlaub, den wir dort mit 7 Personen verbracht haben. Wir wurden mit Blumen und einem Obstkorb sowie Öl, Honig, Aufschnitt, Brot und Wein begrüßt. Die Betten waren auch sehr bequem.

Traumhafte Location zum Entspannen und genießen ! In Echt sind der Garten, der Pool und die Lage noch viel besser als es die Fotos erahnen ließen. Wir hatten mit unserer 3 Generationen Großfamilie mit 7 Erwachsenen und 3 Kindern (4-8Jahre) eine tolle Zeit. Das Haus ist geräumig und komfortabel und authentisch für eine griechische Villa möbliert. Die 5 Schlafzimmer sind klimatisiert, die Betten absolut super. Die Küche und in den Bädern gibt es einige Spuren der Zeit, das schränkt das Gesamtempfinden nicht ein. Haus und Umgebung sind eine Ansammlung von Superlativen: 3 Kuehlschränke , 2 Gefrierschränke, top Waschmaschine, Pool , Grillecke , Patio , Pool und natürlich die liebevolle Betreuung. Freundlicher unkomplizierter Empfang, umfassender Willkommenskorb mit Lebensmitteln , Olivenöl und Getränken 2 mal wöchentliche Reinigung mit Waeschewechsel, Gartenservice , und die wunderbaren morgens frisch gepflückten Weintrauben :-)Und das ganze in traumhaft ruhiger und idyllischer typisch griechischer Gegend mit Eigenleben . Das kleine Örtchen Melidoni mit einer wunderbaren Taverne fußläufig und jede Menge gute Einkaufsmöglichkeiten einschl Super Schlachterei und Bäckerei 8 km entfernt in PeramaVielen Dank an das Villa Mellita Team für die tolle Zeit die wir in diesem kleinen Paradies !

Absolut empfehlenswertes Haus

Ein wunderschönes Haus in Alleinlage. Sehr gepflegt. Wir bekamen zur Begrüßung Wein und erste Lebensmittel. Die Bilder beschreiben nicht wie toll es ist. Sehr zuvorkommende Gastgeber. Der Pool ist groß und auch sehr gepflegt und sauber. Wir konnten jeden Tag vin den Orangenbäumen im Garten unseren eigenen Saft pressen. In der Küche findet man alles was man braucht inkl. Saftpresse. Es gibt 5 Schlafzimmer und 4 Bäder. Der Garten, der Pool und das Haus sind sehr groß. Einfach ein TOPHAUS. Auch die Lage ist für Ausflüge sehr gut geeignete. 👍
