Come relax in our cozy 2 bedroom, fully furnished guest house located on 10 acres at the Head of the Sequatchie Valley, halfway between Crossville and Pikeville. We are tucked in by the beautiful hills of God's Country. There is something very special in this space between the mountains. Walk down to the Sequatchie river which runs through our homestead and enjoy what nature provides each season. In hot weather, dip your feet in the cool water or sit in a chair and read a book while listening to the relaxing sound of the river. If you are looking to escape city life, have a personal retreat, or a quiet getaway, we offer a peaceful respite for rest and relaxation. We are next to the soon-to-be-opened Cumberland Trail State Park and located in Cumberland County, the golf capital of Tennessee which has ten championship golf courses. We are 20 minutes South of Crossville, TN, on the Cumberland Plateau which is home to the Cumberland County Playhouse, the historic homestead area, and Cumberland Mountain State Park. We are also one hour from the beautiful Fall Creek Falls State park. Other nearby waterfalls include Burgess Falls, Cummins Falls, Ozone Falls, and Rock Island State Park, among others. We are conveniently located 1 1/2 hours from Chattanooga and Knoxville. We are also 2 hours from the Great Smoky Mountains and Nashville. Our guest cottage is remote, quiet, and peaceful. Depending on the season and weather, we can offer a campfire down by the river, horse shoe pit, barbecue grill, and supervised use of the wood stove. This property located in the valley does not have cell service, although we do have free Wi-Fi.
The Maxwell family has lived on this property for the last 30+ years, taking it from a wild, thorn-covered property to a park-like setting. Its original owner, Larry's father, Rupert Maxwell, was a WWII P47 Thunderbolt fighter pilot and was shot down over Germany and held in a prisoner of war camp for one year. Rupert passed down many lessons including his love for the Lord, this property, and the hard work it takes to maintain it. Larry and Rupert built both houses, including the barn. Larry and Beverly are avid outdoorsman. We love to hunt and fish, hike, garden, cook, read, sit down by the river and swing on the porch. God has blessed us with this homestead and we would love to share this special place with you. Coming from a military family, Larry has lived in several places, while Beverly grew up and lived in Michigan. Together, we share 4 grown children and 5 grandchildren. We are laid back folks who love our quiet piece of the world.
This property, our little piece of the world, is secluded enough to be a peaceful haven and yet not too far from amenities. We love it!
What people say when they come here is that it is so beautiful and peaceful and that we are so blessed to be able to live here. The Valley is a historic place where Cherokee Indians once made their home until they were moved out on the Trail of Tears. The first Sheriff of Cumberland County is buried on the State property next door. The Sequatchie river originates out of the hillside nearby and runs through our property and makes a great place to cool ones feet on a hot day! Wildlife pays us frequent visits that include deer, turkeys, fox, coyote, bobcat, and many species of birds, etc. Beauty abounds in this space between the mountains and if you sit long enough or wander with a keen eye, you, too, can take in its wonders and escape the real world for a while.
The cabin was very relaxing and the owners were very generous.
Very Peaceful, awesome views of the mountains. Thank you Larry and Beverley.
From the moment we arrived, which was later than expected because of stormy weather to travel in, our host Larry and Beverly were fantastic. Larry was waiting outside to direct us in and Beverly had delicious chocolate chip pumpkin waiting for us in the cottage. Cottage was spotless . Would definitely recommend this cottage. The name says it all “Tranquility”.
Although I haven't been many cabins this one is really different. Very clean, cozy, beautiful, just like you coming back home! Larry and Beverly are so friendly, when you talk to them you feel so comfortable. The place where the cabin is is very peaceful and beautiful. We enjoyed the nature completely. Insects chirping, camp fire, hummingbirds, stars... Thanks for everything! This would be one of our best memories! We want to come back again.
A beautiful, secluded cottage surrounded on all sides by hills and trees. It has abundant birds, butterflies, and other wildlife including beavers. At least 50 Ruby Throated Hummingbirds were in the area along with Mourning Doves, Cardinals, Red Eyed Vireos, Hawks, a Green Heron, and a couple of Kingfishers. It is literally a birdwatcher's paradise! There were also plentiful large butterflies, the likes of which I'd only seen in butterfly exhibits before. The inside of the cottage was large and comfortable, and in immaculate shape. Larry and Beverly were kind and gracious hosts that certainly made me feel welcome! I will definitely be planning on staying there again.
Highly recommend this cottage!! The owners live near by but are wonderful and you still have your space as well as your privacy. It is in the country but close enough to Crossville to do whatever you want. Definitely will book it again in the future!
We are conveniently located between Crossville and Pikeville, on the edge of Cumberland county at the head of the beautiful Sequatchie Valley off Old Hwy 28, around 5 miles from Hwy 127.
