About Jeff and Angelica Bazyk

When Jeff and I were in our early 20's, we started going up to coastal Maine every year in the summer. Raised in NY and southern CT, we fell in love with the quaint New England villages, the pine air, cool night summer breezes, the people, and the laid-back lifestyle. In 2001, we lived in a condo in downtown Boston and wanted to find a weekend retreat that offered lots of outdoor activities throughout the year. We had heard about the Lakes Region in Maine and decided to explore that area of Maine. The first time we saw this Log Home, set in the woods, on a beautiful lake, we knew it had everything we had hoped to find. With nearby skiing at Sunday River and Mt. Abram's and the interstate trail system of cross country and snowmobile trails - it would provide us with plenty to do during the winter. In the summer, we could canoe, kayak, swim, hike... or just relax by the lake. And, the nearby quaint New England towns of Bridgton and Bethel reminded us of why we were drawn to Maine so many years ago.

Jeff and Angelica Bazyk purchased this chateau / country house in 2001

Why Jeff and Angelica Bazyk chose Mountains & Lakes

The house sit on a lake and faces the sunset. Each evening, you can sit on the deck, watching the loons on the lake, as the sun dips below the White Mountains in the distance.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We rented 9/18-9/25 2011. The house was quiet and peaceful. Everything was provided that we needed. Our group included my brother and his wife, my mom and my wife, 10 month old daughter and myself. There was plenty of space for everyone to relax. There were two solid wood child gates. One at the top of the basement steps and one at the base of the steps to the second floor. They came in handy with a 10 month old that thought she needed to explore every inch of the house. The front porch was wonderful. We saw a Bald Eagle the second day. The home was centrally located for what we wanted to see. The coast was only about an hour away and so were the White Mtns. I only wish the weather was cooler so we could have tried out the fireplace. I know no one in our group wanted to leave at the end of the week. I'm sure we will be back in the future.

This was a great location! It was so peaceful and easy to get too. The house was super clean and beautiful on the inside. We loved sitting on the porch. The kitchen was stocked nicely, nice fluffy towels, but the beds were pretty hard. There was plenty of toys for my toddler and movies. We had fun fishing having a campfire and using the canoe! Perfect getaway for a weekend or the week. We plan to come back in the winter the house will be so cozy and inviting.

Quiet, relaxing, clean, lots of amenities, comfortable great home base for exploring Maine!

  • 4 of 5

Nice that the cabin is tucked away from busy roads. A little remote for touristy attractions but still lots of fun local attractions.

Great family place in quiet private location

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful private property on quiet pond. Was perfect for seven people which included an 8 and a 5 year old. Three separate bedrooms and a sleeping loft with good beds and with linens provided. Got a good viewing of local bird life from the porch and the small sandy beach. Best equipped kitchen we have ever found in a rental. Just a great place for a family to spend time and enjoy a relaxing vacation. A great base for a couple of day trips to hike and do the Sunday River summer stuff, all close by and relatively uncrowded. And the weather cooperated. The owner was thoughtful and even called to make sure all was going well! Would recommend to anyone who would like a Maine experience.

Rustic log home with all the comforts of home and a beautiful sunset water view

  • 5 of 5

I loved it! This rustic log home was situated perfectly. It faces West on a quiet pond and is surrounded by nature. The home had everything we needed to be comfortable and lots of equipment to enjoy the outdoors. It was clean and spacious with a well equipped kitchen...even forgotten condiments were in the fridge! We built a big cozy fire. watched classic movies, and made a puzzls on our one rainy day. Best of all was the porch overlooking the pond with great sunset views. Another best was taking out the canoe and kayak on the peaceful pond. The nearby small town of Norway would be fun to explore with it's many book stores, antique shops and cafe's. We had a great stay and I am looking forward to staying again for a longer time.

Quiet and quite enjoyable!

  • 4 of 5

The cabin comes into view with adirondack chairs arranged off to the side around a fire pit overlooking the the pond. Lovely wooden interior, open concept. Kitchen has terrific counterspace and view of pond. Sleeping quarters worked well for 6 adults and 2 kids. Nice grill and comfortable seating on the deck, yard is level and even has a horseshoe pit. Great location to take day trips to Portland, Rangeley, Conway, NH, just about anywhere. Owners were very responsive and great to work with. The week just went by too quick.
