About Jeff and Angelica Bazyk
When Jeff and I were in our early 20's, we started going up to coastal Maine every year in the summer. Raised in NY and southern CT, we fell in love with the quaint New England villages, the pine air, cool night summer breezes, the people, and the laid-back lifestyle. In 2001, we lived in a condo in downtown Boston and wanted to find a weekend retreat that offered lots of outdoor activities throughout the year. We had heard about the Lakes Region in Maine and decided to explore that area of Maine. The first time we saw this Log Home, set in the woods, on a beautiful lake, we knew it had everything we had hoped to find. With nearby skiing at Sunday River and Mt. Abram's and the interstate trail system of cross country and snowmobile trails - it would provide us with plenty to do during the winter. In the summer, we could canoe, kayak, swim, hike... or just relax by the lake. And, the nearby quaint New England towns of Bridgton and Bethel reminded us of why we were drawn to Maine so many years ago.
Jeff and Angelica Bazyk purchased this Chateau / Country House in 2001

Cozy cabin, perfect for a Maine getaway!
The house is very charming with a beautiful view of the lake only steps away. The weather was crazy with torrential rain the first day and sub-zero temps the next two days, but the house kept us cozy the whole time. The layout is very conducive to being together. It is 30 minutes away from Sunday River with an easy drive.
Very spacious and accommodating!
Had a great time on our hunting trip! The cabin was extremely comfortable and spacious! The rental process was very easy and well organized! Looking forward to making this an annual trip if possible. Couldn’t ask for a better place to stay. Thank you again
Thank you for the great review. So glad you had a wonderful stay and would love to have you back anytime.
Tranquil setting on the water
The house on Papoose Pond was quite relaxing and tranquil. I enjoyed the kayaks and canoes available to for guest use and the short trip to the water. There were a number of amenities including a fire pit and sprawling back porch. Owners were responsive to messages. My only challenge was a bit of inflexibility in getting an earlier check in time, although the owner did try to work with me on it. Overall I would highly recommend this place and would love to return someday!
So glad you enjoyed your stay! Would love to have you come back anytime.
Peaceful, well equipped cottage
We loved our time at Papoose Pond! This is a peaceful and private location but is close to several larger towns making it easy to head out to lunch or purchase groceries. We stayed with our 16 month old son and the home was incredibly well equipped for a child with plenty of books, toys (including some to play in the sand at the little beach), and a high chair. We really appreciated that the stairs were cordoned off. We loved the canoe (kayaks also available; with life vests for all ages) and got out for a paddle every morning. There was a lovely view of the pond from the porch and we enjoyed watching the nightly sunset from the beach.
There is plenty of space here for several families to stay, but it works well for a couple with a few children as well; we confirmed ourselves to the main floor which worked very well for our family of three (main floor has two bedrooms; one with two sets of bunk beds and one with a queen; the upper floor has additional rooms and the loft assessed by a somewhat scary catwalk).
The kitchen was quite well stocked which we have found is not usually the case in rentals.
Our only complaint is that the beds weren't made. We arrived late at night after a day at work and the usual holiday traffic up from Boston and after getting our son settled into bed, we were disappointed to pull the comforter back on our bed and discover that we needed to make the bed.
This was really a wonderful spot, though. We found that the weekend was just the relaxing time that we needed!
Thanks for the great feedback. I'll ask the housekeeper to see if she wouldn't mind making the beds from now on. So glad you enjoyed your stay, and I hope you come back in the future!
Quiet, relaxing, clean, lots of amenities, comfortable great home base for exploring Maine!
Nice that the cabin is tucked away from busy roads. A little remote for touristy attractions but still lots of fun local attractions.
Rustic log home with all the comforts of home and a beautiful sunset water view
I loved it! This rustic log home was situated perfectly. It faces West on a quiet pond and is surrounded by nature. The home had everything we needed to be comfortable and lots of equipment to enjoy the outdoors. It was clean and spacious with a well equipped kitchen...even forgotten condiments were in the fridge! We built a big cozy fire. watched classic movies, and made a puzzls on our one rainy day. Best of all was the porch overlooking the pond with great sunset views. Another best was taking out the canoe and kayak on the peaceful pond. The nearby small town of Norway would be fun to explore with it's many book stores, antique shops and cafe's. We had a great stay and I am looking forward to staying again for a longer time.
Thank you for the wonderful review and so glad you all enjoyed yourselves. Please come back anytime, as you were great renters!
