About the property

1 Bedroom, 1 Bath (Sleeps 4)

A property with history galore! On a farm dating back to 1770 built by the Colden family of New York, the Creamery is also part of what once was the Alex Campbell Milk Co. in the late 1800's. Nestled among the greenery yet close to Hudson Valley fun! A separate one-bedroom second-story space in it's own private building where you'll feel the charm of a by-gone era. A deck overlooking a wooded glen and a kitchen window with a view of the barn with it's hand-hewn timbers.

The space - a quaint charming living/dining area directly off the cozy kitchen has a comfy couch and chair and a little nook to curl up and read a book. The kitchen has an apartment-size stove, full size refrigerator and all the tools you need to make yummy meals or just snacks.

Also available on the property: Colden House (see listing #1153362) sleeps 13 and can be rented as well so the whole family can gather!

***Tented events for groups of up to 100 - Imagine the possibilities! Inquire for details... ***

You'll have a chance to really 'unplug' here! Relax on the deck overlooking a wooded glen and lush green space. No TV? right! Use WiFi to check emails if you must but take a break and enjoy some freedom to unwind!

Want your kids to experience a campfire and get closer to nature but retreat to a comfy home when it's time for shut-eye? The Creamery also has it's own fire pit! Let us know ahead and we will supply a bundle of wood and get you set for a fun evening! (During warmer months, you'll probably want to bring along some bug spray just in case.)

See deer, wild turkey, listen to owls at night. Occasionally a fox will stroll by!

As your neighbors we'll be ready to provide assistance but we also respect your privacy! Please respect the privacy of our home and our personal guests in return. If you'd like a brief tour of the barn or a chat about the history of the place - just say the word!

About Colden House

We've been married over 30 years now and have enjoyed several adventures along the way! The Creamery is part of Colden House, our newest adventure and we love this old place. We have been so impressed at the craftsmanship we uncover every time we begin a new corner of restoration. And Cory is doing an amazing job of restoring and preserving the original history here while making it a comfortable home to enjoy! We always knew we were attracted to historic places, but didn't know how much we appreciated them until now.

Everything from the hand-hewn timbers to the wide plank flooring has needed a bit of love but with some ingenuity and care, they are being saved! We hope the barn can someday become a venue for memorable events - We would have been married in a place like this if we could have! We will keep working toward that goal and everyone staying at the Creamery is a contributor to saving this piece of history ;-)

Hope to meet you soon!

Why Colden House chose Newburgh

We came to New York as volunteers years ago and then stayed! Only 25 minutes from Wallkill Bethel, Watchtower Farm, about 45-50 minutes from Warwick & Patterson, NY. About 1.5 hrs from New York City.

Plus the beautiful Hudson Valley - a great place to visit!

What makes this guest house unique

The Creamery is nestled in a secluded spot yet close to everything! A great place to relax after a busy day of interesting activity!

Lovely home

My husband and i enjoyed our stay. The house was impeccably clean and we relished the simple, thoughtful touches to the house. We immediately felt at ease here and the bed was comfy to boot!

Beautiful and Peaceful

  • 5 of 5

We completely enjoyed our stay at Colden Creamery. Our only disappointment was that we were not there to enjoy it longer. It had the rustic charm we were looking for and also gave us the peaceful down time of being in nature after the busy days in the city. We can't say enough about the fire pit, the deer and turkey sightings, the picturesque setting and friendly hosts. We have already referred the Creamery to many of our friends.

Charming restored getaway

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful little apartment built inside the old creamery on a quiet retired farm. We were visiting for the weekend for a 45th high school reunion and found this to great little place within a mile of our dinner location. It was a fantastic alternative to another nondescript hotel. Comfortable with one bedroom and a sleeper couch, nice little kitchen and bathroom. In the living room you look up at the ceiling that has what appears to be a 100+ year old beam and beautifully redone wooden ceiling. It is tucked away on a quiet farm and sits next to an old dairy barn that is being restored. There are no domesticated animals on the farm but did see one deer. Would definitely rent again on my next visit to the area.

Idyllic Weekend Getaway

  • 5 of 5

The creamery provided for an idyllic weekend away from the city. The property is magnificent. The owners have done a phenomenal job restoring the early 18th century buildings, which were built by the original Lt. Governor of New York before the revolution. With hiking and biking trails just 15 minutes away, you are sure to get the rest and relaxation you expect when booking a weekend in Hudson Valley.

PS - I highly recommend taking advantage of the fire pit! Be sure to bring supplies for s'mores!

Quaint, charming, warm and inviting!

  • 5 of 5

Close and easy drive from NYC- awesome getaway for a weekend! It's peaceful and serene. The place is extremely clean and has everything you need. We thoroughly enjoyed building a campfire both nights, roasting some marshmallows and enjoying the peace and quiet.

Bug spray is a must for this time of year-- gnats and mosquitoes were out and nibbling for sure!

Will definitely consider returning in the fall!

It was a great experience!
