Amazing Loft in Historic Waterworks Building, near Downtown Pensacola
Our home is located in Pensacola's original water company, an industrial brick building with steel trusses, brick walls, arched windows, and concrete ceilings. It was built in 1907. It has been featured on HGTV's Rezoned. Our loft is on the second floor and is reached by stairs. It is not accessible for those who have mobility disabilities. The space is light filled with two clerestory windows that run along the length of the building. The ceiling height ranges from 13 to 25 feet. There is an enormous great room. There are three bedrooms and two baths on this floor.
There are several other loft apartments and an office in this building as well. If you need additional space, it is possible to rent the downstairs area or other units in the building. Downstairs there are five additional bedrooms, two baths, and a great room with a pool table. There is also a kitchenette.
Our building is located on the north edge of downtown and the east edge of the North Hill Preservation District, in the Long Hollow Neighborhood. Across the street is the First City Art Center where you can take a class and the Long Hollow Neighborhood Park with a labyrinth and a sculpture park. Palafox Street, Pensacola's main street, is 1 1/2 blocks away. There are many restaurants, music venues, bars, and parks nearby. It is 15 minutes by car to Pensacola Beach on the Gulf of Mexico. The Naval Aviation museum is about 25 minutes by car.
Other things to note: The walls separating the bedrooms are eight feet high and the ceiling height is between 13 feet and 25 feet. This is a historic building with five different units in it. There will be some sound transfer between units and there is a train nearby. Sound machines and earplugs are available in the unit if desired. There are steps up to the unit.

What a cool building to stay in and learn history about. The hosts were great and easy to communicate with. Such a different place and location was perfect for us.
This place was absolutely fantastic! The vibe is super neat and unique! Everything was perfect! Our host was extremely accommodating and went out of her way to house such a large group and made our stay there simply unforgettable! We’ll definitely be staying there again!
Came to Pensacola with our two college aged boys. Wanted to stay in a handy location in the older part of town. Boys and I went fishing, and my wife enjoyed the down town, and market area while we were gone.

Great event venue but not a comfortable place to stay
The space is beautiful and very open. There is a lot of seating as well. It was more than enough room for our small event and can accommodate a much larger party. However, the sleeping space was not so great. There is essentially no privacy (partial walls but no ceilings), you can hear everyone going to the bathroom, showering, snoring, etc. The building is right across the street from the train tracks and trains run constantly...all through the night. We did not get a good night’s sleep and I wouldn’t consider myself a light sleeper. There is also some other kind of venue across the street and the second night we stayed, there was a live band outside that could be heard very clearly. Luckily they called it quits before 10 pm. Also, all the towels and sheets had an odor. Like a damp/mildewy smell. The bed in one of the rooms was very hard and uncomfortable (also very low to the ground). The bed in the master bedroom was very high, had trouble climbing up into it.
I would not recommend the place for sleeping, especially for the price. But it is a very nice venue for an informal event.

Response from VrboOwner on Mar 28, 2020
Thanks so much for your input as we've only rented our space a handful of time at this point and appreciate the feedback. In response, we've resolved the issues with the washer and dryer and the hard mattress. We've also added a white noise machine in the bedrooms to block out the noise of the train or other guests. We will make our listing description more clear that our ceilings are 25 feet in some place with 8 foot high walls in the bedrooms which are not soundproof. To clarify, they are completely private rooms in every other way. I'm terribly sorry the noise affected your stay. It is very unusual for the the art center across the street to have an evening with a band and we will do our best to notify future guests of such events. Thanks again for your feedback. All the best, Michelle.
We loved staying in this condo! It was just 2 minutes away from the Pensacola Bay Center, so that was super helpful! The owner provided all of the necessities we needed like toilet paper, detergent, dish soap, and even provided us with beach chairs! Our only issue we had was the lack of ceilings and lighting. But overall, it was the perfect place to stay for what we needed.

Positives.
Great location, very close to all the restaurants in Pensacola. Very large space with cathedral ceilings. The beds were very comfortable. The owner was very responsive.
Negatives.
The room needs a deep cleaning, lots of dust in the kitchen area cabinets. The toilets are very small and uncomfortable. There was a coffee machine, but no coffee. The temperature in the room was almost 80 degrees, and you have to contact the owner to get it turned down. The shower pressure wasn't great. And lastly, there were check out responsibilities that are a bit weird. I paid a cleaning fee, yet was asked by the owner to 1. Do laundry. 2. Take out the trash ect.. isn't that what the cleaning fee is for?
Summation.
Place has lots of potential, very artsy, and large. Just needs a good cleaning and some ammentaties.
We were in Pensacola for a wedding, and had never stayed downtown. It is close to everything, and the placed looked almost exactly like the pictures. The complex manager was great. We had never done BnBs before, but will certainly consider them again.
We had a great stay in this funky and fun loft. It has lots of character and is close to everything that we came there for. It has lots of open space and was a great place for our daughter to get ready for her wedding. There were a couple of issues: the plumbing was slow and we had an overflow, the tv didn't have good reception, a loud train goes by early in the morning, and while there are three bedrooms, there was a lack of privacy due to being able to hear everything.
Overall, it was a great experience and met our needs.

We had a wonderful time!
Great, comfortable place to stay. Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed by the owner, Michelle. We felt like home as soon as we stepped in. Accommodations were excellent! Our room was clean and comfortable.
Michelle was friendly, had great recommendations, and was always willing to help in any way possible. 15 min drive to the beaches and some truly awesome neighborhood eateries.
Our experience was nothing less than exceptional! We would definitely stay there again if we ever go back to Pensacola.
