We had a wonderful stay at this property. Loved the neighborhood and the short walk to a great downtown area and the Metro train station. Lots of excellent restaurant choices within a 10-minute walk. Having dedicated off-street parking was a HUGE bonus. The house has a ton of character and charm and the kitchen was the best equipped one I've encountered in a vacation rental. The host, Susan, was easy to communicate with and so thorough with all the details related to the amenities and staying at the house. (My one suggestion for added convenience would be to hang a shower caddy from the showerhead in the master bathroom). If we ever venture back to the DC area, without question this would be the place we would pick to stay at.

This home is in a nice neighborhood and is very large. We only used the back half of house and the master, both had plenty of room! There is a faint smell of dogs, but we are used to that! Susan was very easy to communicate with!

Great place to stay for our DC trip

Lovely home within walking distance of the Metro. Well-equipped kitchen and plenty of space for our family of 6. Susan was easy to communicate with and answered any questions.

The house was spacious and clean. It was an easy walk to the Metro station and local restaurants. The kitchen was well equipped and even had a coffee grinder which was helpful because the one in brought wasn’t working properly. The unit didn’t have coffee but there was tea.

Large DC home

This is a large home with plenty of space for our family of 6. Large open rooms downstairs and nice sized bedrooms upstairs. Including a 15 minute walk to the Takoma metro, it typically took about 1 hour to reach the downtown sites around the National mall. About a 25-30 minute drive if you can find parking.

It was a wonderful place pictures on VRBO doesn’t do it justice the house was beautiful. The Metro was a short walk from the house, it took us anywhere we wanted to go. Before we got there we done a WalMart delivery order it showed up in time. The town is beautiful. We sat out on the front porch and drank coffee..

Tacoma Park VRBO for a trip to Wash DC

The place was nice, but there were a few concerns. There was no laundry detergent or pods. the Washer a drying didn’t work well… Washer did not spin the clothes and the dryer did not dry them well. There were only 2 fry pans and one was crusted with a thick layer of burnt crud and these wasn’t a scouring pad. We’re able to clean it anyway. The house was farther from the Metro station than we anticipated. We still had a nice trip. The photo was from the Busboys and Poets cafe…. Great food and service.

A perfect Easter weekend.

My Fiance and I planned an Easter weekend visit to DC during which our respective Daughters and Sons had the opportunity to meet for the first time. The house turned out to be the perfect place to stay….. large rooms, excellently well equipped kitchen, very well maintained,and in a lovely quiet neighborhood. Thank you, Susan, for providing us with such a wonderful “home base” for our visit.

Fabulous house

Great location. Huge house great for family gathering. Walkable to Tacoma Park center with lots of restaurants, bookstores, playgrounds, etc.. We had a wonderful time. This is our second time staying here and we’ll be back!!

Wonderful home

My family and I loved this home. It was convenient to everything. The home was in a quiet neighborhood and well stocked. The rooms are spacious and the jet tub is wonderful. I would highly recommend this home if you are traveling to the DC area.

Very nice property, excellent host

We had a great stay at this lovely house in an adorable neighborhood. We parked at the metro station about 2 miles away with tons of parking. You can also walk to the closer metro. House was perfect for our guests!

My sister and I spent several days here with our dogs. Not far from Washington DC. Very quiet neighborhood. Was perfect for relaxing after all day in DC. Plenty of room for all one time. Loved it

I spent many years living in Washington DC working on national campaigns for child safety, sustainable agriculture, and fair trade. When I met my forester/activist husband, he was headed back to Oregon. So we made a compromise more than 20 years ago: We would move to Hood River, but keep our DC house, with the plan that we would spend half our time on each coast. Years of raising our son kept us centered in Oregon. But now that he's grown, we are able to spend time on both coasts again. I love the Pacific Northwest, but I also have always loved our special house and neighborhood in Takoma Park. Sharing our homes allows us to indulge my bi-coastal, country-city loyalties.

I love the neighborhood. We are just two blocks away from the center of Takoma Park. It's a very pleasant walk to downtown/old town Takoma, where you will find a delightful assortment of restaurants, small shops, and conveniences. A mainstay of the town is the Sunday Farmer's Market. It's a sure place to run into someone you know.
The Takoma Metro can get you to Union Station in 10 minutes, Dupont Circle in 20. If you want to get to the Washington Mall, you can transfer and be there in about 35-40 minutes.
The neighborhood has a lot of charm. It has houses of many sizes, from post-war bungalows, to early 1900s farmhouses, to refurbished Victorians. Gardens are eclectic and neighbors are interesting and easy-going.
Our house sits on a quiet street, with many long-time neighbors. We've seen our children grow up, we know each other's pets. We shovel snow together when DC gets the big storms and then hole up in one of our houses to enjoy the stopping of time until the snow melts. Through the warmer months, we love our front porch where we can look out onto the street, but also enjoy privacy because we are perched up high.

I'm excited to share our home with you. I bought this house when I was young and single, and paid the mortgage by having housemates. We had a great time and many of us are still close friends today. With all the housemates, and all the friends visiting, and all the short-term stays, many people have enjoyed our home's welcome embrace. It sounds crazy, but you will know what I mean once you get there.
The rooms in the house are very large, and the ceilings are high - so it has a very spacious feel. There are plenty of spaces to spread out, to enjoy being together or to take some time for yourself.
The furniture in the house is not fancy, but it is all comfortable. It's got an eclectic style, with lots of color and original artwork. We pride ourselves on the simplicity and lack of clutter, and calm mood we've created.
The front porch is really special. And the back deck is nice and private with a small wooded area to look into.
