About the property

A truly stunning historic cottage by White's Mercantile Room and Board! This is the only nightly rental available in the heart of Leiper's Fork village, walk to everything! Built in 1892 for the Carl Sweeney family, these walls and rooms are brimming with stories. Happiness and tragedy, laughter and tears, and generations who loved and lost and lived there.

I have truly enjoyed working on the redemption of this home during the renovation phase and always preserving where I can to let the history shine through this gem. I want to welcome songwriters searching for a creative getaway, families and couples craving quiet and restorative time for themselves, artists needing new inspirations, and anyone wanting to escape for a few days inside inside a warm, curated and welcoming space to find a little peace and clarity from our modern and frantic everyday life! I hope you will make truly amazing memories here that will stay close to your heart...

Featuring a queen bed upstairs in the master, another queen bed in a smaller adjacent room separated by a single original historic door, and a trundle bed downstairs that accommodates 2 twin mattresses for side by side sleeping, up to 6 people can sleep here!

The original 1892 entry doors are painted a calming pink in contrast to the original black screen doors. The tiny, chic kitchen is equipped with everything one could ever need to make a great meal! From the fabulous mint green Smeg refrigerator, to the bertazzoni Italian stove, this is a cook's dream!! The bathroom features a tub deep enough to soak in, and a handheld shower kit, along with a fabulous brass console sink and faucet. The farm table seats up to 8 in the dining room clad with antique plates and mirrors. There is a stackable washer and dryer for any laundry you may need to do! Feel free to bring your furry friend, Harry Barker dog beds which are available at my general store (White's Mercantile) are in the living room for them to get their rest! 2 Gibson guitars are inside awaiting your musical skills, and the fire pit in the back with 6 chairs to accommodate is the perfect place for s'mores or star gazing.

Walk to town for live music at historic Puckett's Grocery, find incredible antiques and a handful of restaurants to keep you moving, then pray for rain to sing you to sleep on the original tin roof of this unbelievably charming home! Only 8 miles to Franklin and 26 miles to Nashville, the day trip options are absolutely endless! When you book the home we will send you my travel guide to keep you on your toes while exploring all that we have to offer down here in Tennessee! Enjoy...

xo, Holly

Guestbook comments from the owner

We really loved our stay at this charming cottage, I can't say enough about how fantastic the home and area are! The cottage is perfectly appointed with thoughtful details in every corner. The living room features a lovely seating area with enough room for the whole gang and a working fireplace. My favorite things were actually the smallest details; antique photos to browse, an aqua SMEG refrigerator, gently foiled wallpaper in the bathroom, beautiful sink fixtures, cozy linens. I could go on and on. We were greeted with the most lovely scent when we arrived - I actually had to track down exactly what it was at White's Mercantile because I love it so much. Like, obsessed. The house is full of yummy goodness from Meyer's laundry detergent to local soap in the shower. Plenty of fluffy towels and necessities. Check in was very easy and they were very accommodating and quick to respond to questions and messages. We evacuated for the hurricane and had our dogs in tow so it was such a relief to arrive to such a clean, welcoming and cozy retreat from the storm. The fenced yard was a requirement for the pups and it was an added bonus to sit in the Adirondacks by the firepit every evening. Beyond the delightful house and it's wonderful smelly goodness, the town is adorable! We randomly picked Lieper's Fork and were so pleasantly surprised. The house is literally next door to adorable shops filled with local goodies. It seems to be a bit of a Sunday driver's destination stop with folks stopping for live music, bbq and a bit of shopping along the scenic drive. A short drive to downtown Franklin for more cute stores (omg I shopped a lot) and historic sites then another easy trek to Nashville. This was the perfect hurricane hideaway - and would make an excellent holiday vacation spot too!

Perfect little piece of history!

  • 5 of 5

I was looking for something quaint and warm. Something unique and comforting. Something right next to all the stores in downtown Liepers Fork. I found all those things and so much more. I brought my girlfriend here for her birthday and she absolutely lost it. She couldn’t believe just how awesome and beautiful the house was. Men listen up! If you’re looking for a romantic getaway, this lil gem is the place! We will for sure be going back!

Charming cottage!

We really enjoyed our stay at Sweeney Cottage in Leiper’s Fork. Cottage was well appointed and convenient to Franklin and Nashville. Puckett’s Grocery is a must do on your visit. Great live music and southern comfort food in a historic intimate venue.

Adorable Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay and are already planning a return trip. Leiper's Fork is a tiny gem, and this adorable house is right in the middle of it. The house is thoughtfully decorated, and lovely in it's appointments. We were a party of 5 sisters, looking for a quiet, lovely place for a get together, while passing through the area. This charming house, totally fit the bill. The house is well equipped with everything we needed, with the exception of a microwave in the kitchen, which we quickly realized we could do without. Even though there were 5 women, sharing one bathroom, we made do and were just happy to be there enjoying this lovely house that is full of character and charm.

Lovely x 10000

  • 5 of 5

We so enjoyed the location of this home as well as the care that had been taken with the restoration. The temperatures dipped really low this weekend and we couldn't figure out the heating system (the upstairs bedroom heater had been left on so that stayed warm)...we certainly should have gotten in touch but just a note that it isn't as self-explanatory as you'd hope. Gratefully, there was also a fireplace and a space heater so that kept the chill mostly off the main floor. We googled the unit and watched two videos but the heaters just didn't seem to warm the space...user error for sure but maybe a little direction like the note by the fireplace would help.

Thank you again for the investment this home purchase was and what you'd done to create a great getaway!!!

It's SO cute that we has someone taking photos on the porch and even sitting in the porch caught us off guard but goes to show how truly adorable the home is.

Owner's Response: So happy to hear that you enjoyed your time at our dreamy cottage! I'll be sure to mention to the cleaners to double check that a copy of the instructions for the heating and cooling are left out. Please note (for next time ;) that we are always just a call away and would have been able to either send you a copy of the instructions or walk you through it! Thank you again for your kind words!
