The house itself is charming and spacious. The view from the garden is truly beautiful. I would have a few areas of improvement... many of the furnishings are old and quite worn, the cleaning was not the best (there was a toe nail on the lounge carpet, crumbs all round the toaster and a bug of some sort under one of the bed pillows). I know it is an old house so I would also suggest airing and keeping scented reeds/airwick plug ins as the house smelt very damp when we arrived. This could be a 5* property with a few improvements.

Our initial impression is that it is an attractive, good sized family cottage in a beautiful location. The garden looked as though it needed a lot more attention in maintaining it, and a safer fence next to the road at the front of the terrace, particularly for families visiting with younger children. Inside the cottage, some of the furnishings in the living room looked slightly tired, and there are worn rugs downstairs in the hallway which could easily cause someone to trip and fall. Although you accept that it is an old property there was very noticeable damp and musty smell downstairs which may have been coming up through the floor, as in places the carpet was rotting away at the edges and discoloured. The kitchen was equipped well enough to be able to prepare meals, though one of the oven doors didn't close properly and so was not safe to use. There was a second oven on the range cooker which was fine however. Upstairs the bedrooms all had very comfortable beds, which is very much appreciated when away from home and were well furnished. The house was generally clean, but the mass of spiders webs all around might be rather off-putting for some! We very much enjoyed our weekend stay at the cottage which provided a good base for exploring Harlech and the beautiful surrounding areas of the Welch coast.

The house is in a great location overlooking the golf course and sand dunes towards the beach, you can clearly see the castle from the garden which is a cool feature.General location is great for access to the beach, castle and village with easy access by road and rail to nearby towns and villages (Abersoch is around 40 mins by car).Inside the house is spacious and quirky, there was plenty of space for our party of 8. We also made the most of the wood burner during our stay. The only issue we had was sharing the one shower between the group but this can be managed. Steep steps down to the house from the parking area could be a struggle for elderly/disabled.Would recommend the house and would stay again. Thanks
