About Sara Shepherd
We are a family farm, owned by Sara and Keith Shepherd. What use to be a tobacco and beef cattle farm is now a conservation and agritourism farm located on 700 acres of rolling hills in Western Kentucky. If you like a family friendly and laid back atmosphere with nature, relaxing, watching the sunset and hiking some trails, then come spend some time on Burdoc Farms.
Sara Shepherd purchased this Cabin in 1942
Why Sara Shepherd chose Crofton
We have been on this farm since 1943 and now have the 3rd generation working on the farm. We have 6 rescue dogs, so be sure you don't mind being around animals! We also have a pool with the cabin for your friends and family to hang out but don't be surprised if the Shepherd family takes a dip in the pool as well, so you might have to share with us!
What makes this Cabin unique
There are some major sunsets at Burdoc Farms, it is the 2nd highest spot in the county! It is not uncommon for deer to run up in the back yard of the cabin in the afternoon! Wildflowers, wild blackberries or nature walks are available 24/7....Come to Burdoc Farms, a one of a kind rural experience for your whole family!

The convenience was amazing! It had the wedding so easy and comfortable!
Positives: This cabin is located on beautiful property. The owners were very kind. The pool was beautiful and we enjoyed it a lot. There was a barbecue grill, lots of pool floats, and plenty of chairs to sit & lounge in around the pool.
Negatives: The cabin definitely could use a good all over cleaning. There is a pretty significant field mouse problem. All of the lower kitchen cabinets and drawers and their contents were covered in mouse droppings. Our last night, we stayed up late & saw mice run across the counters and climb down the burners and into the oven. They got into our food as well.
If the mouse situation was gotten under control, we’d love to stay again.
If you enjoy solitude and nature
So nice and quiet at this location. The pool is very nice. You are out in nature but close enough to stores if you need something. I would recommend!
A great get away...
We loved our peaceful get away in Crofton. Our 7 year old loved the pool of course. Sara and Keith were excellent hosts. They let us explore the grounds at our leisure. They are next door, but we still felt that the cabin had plenty of privacy. The cabin is much more spacious than we expected from the pictures. The dogs are very sweet and friendly. We didn’t inquire about wi-fi since we just used our phones. Only thing I would have done differently is planned some more meals in. We thought we were going to make more day trips to Nashville and we ended up wanting to stay in the cabin and relax.
The property is a great way to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of life. We enjoyed a picnic and a walk down the gravel road. The kids enjoyed the pool and all the floats available. There are board games to play and enjoy late into the night. We enjoyed our stay and the kids raved about it.
