LUXURY MOUNTAIN RETREAT! Cabin at the base of the Crazy Mountains
***4WD VEHICLE NEEDED TO REACH THE CABIN DURING HEAVY WINTER WEATHER (Strongly recommended October-April)
45 minutes to Bridger Bowl and Livingston! 55 minutes to Bozeman! Day trip to Yellowstone National Park!
Welcome to the Bowmore, our rustic yet refined "cabin within a cabin." Former owners built a house around and above an old hunting cabin, affording us an intriguing and unique interior. The warmth of the log walls, the stone fireplace, and upscale decor create a warm and welcome atmosphere that our guests love. Recycled wood has been used to trim doors and windows, be the planks for our floors, and serve as our handmade custom doors. This attention to detail gives the Bowmore a style that will take your breath away.
During your stay, cook up a delicious meal in our fully stocked kitchen, complete with custom built cabinets. There is a second fridge in the laundry room for your overflow groceries. You may even feel inspired to grill on our propane bbq, sitting just outside the back door. Enjoy your meal in the formal dining room, with french doors and three beautiful windows looking out on Montana's heartland. If the weather is right, take your meal on the back deck under the cover of the retractable awning. Or, for a cozier meal, sit at the table in the breakfast room, overlooking a forest of fir trees and a private pond. Some guests prefer to use the breakfast room as an office, taking advantage of our wireless internet and the breathtaking views all at the same time.
With the flip of a switch, a gas fireplace warms the comfortable living room. In the mood for a movie? Want to catch that special game? Enjoy our tv room supplied with satellite TV and surround sound. Before you depart from the tv room, take a look in the armoire at all the games and puzzles placed for your enjoyment.
A lovely bathroom, with a custom tiled shower and dual shower heads, graces the main floor. Bath linens are provided for your convenience.
Head up the massive custom built staircase to three bedrooms and one bathroom. (Before you do, don't miss the nook under the stairs made especially for the little people, complete with a table and lamp, a few toys and books.) Upstairs there are two bedrooms with king beds; the third bedroom has two queen beds. The decor and comfort of the premium bedding will delight you; we get rave reviews about the comfort of our mattresses. Enjoy the large closets, dressers, alarm clocks, extra blankets and pillows, fans, and luggage racks. Take a hot bath in the upstairs claw foot tub and soak in the amazing views of the Crazy Mountains through the picture window. All bedrooms and bathroom have double hung windows and wooden slat shades that darken rooms and give privacy.
The Bowmore cabin has 3 amazing porches. Each porch is fitted with outdoor furniture, be it rockers or tables and chairs. Each porch affords a different view and mood. The back porch is considered the sun deck (with a great wind-sensor automatic awning that helps you dictate the amount of sun). The side porch is especially good for watching the glorious sunsets, or tucking away from the occasional Montana wind that might blow through.
The main floor laundry room is equipped with a top load washing machine, dryer, and complimentary detergent.
"Comfortable" is an understatement when describing the Bowmore experience. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions or to reserve this exceptional home. We wish to welcome you to your home away from home!

We loved staying here. The house is great and the views are even better. The location worked great for the purpose of our trip. We will for sure try to book it again in the future!
What a complete gem. Everything about the cabin and its surroundings were so perfect. Attention to detail inside the cabin was like no other place we have stayed. We loved our stay so much, and wouldn’t change a thing. Can’t wait to return next summer.
This place was amazing! Such a cool cabin in the woods. Secluded and quiet. Beautiful views. Comfortable beds. Everything we needed for amenities. Host was easy to communicate with and checked to make sure we had everything we needed. Would definitely recommend.
Excellent home for out in the woods. The most comfortable beds ever experienced in a rental home or even a motel. All the appliances need for any type of cooking.
Loved the home ( excellent )
From the initial booking this Spring to the final locking of the door when we left the experience was great!
Jim & Tina are excellent to work with and go the extra mile to make your visit top shelf.
The cabin is historical in nature, clean, comfortable and relaxing. Location is just right for seclusion, yet minutes away from Wilsall. The views are spectacular.
This is the fifth overall booking at the cabin and our group will return!
What a lovely home! Our family had a wonderful time at the Bowmore cabin. The scenary on the drive out is beautiful and a reminder of why we were in Montana to start with - peace and solitude. The Bowmore was exceptionally stocked with all the things you could need to have an enjoyable time - just add your luggage and groceries. We thoroughly enjoyed cooking out on the grill, s’mores over the fire pit and watching the stars.
I spent most of our stay at the home while the remaining party went deer and elk hunting. I was called the camp cook and the home made it easy and warm. Being I have some medical problems the home fit my needs and intertained me. It a home we have stayed in 2 times and we feel it’s the best one out there. Everything was perfect.
Such a wonderful location Quiet...could see Neowise comet with the naked eye. I seriously appreciated all the details of the cabin...most of all a real bed mattress and not a temperpidic mattress which is too hot during the summer. Plenty of wildlife. Lastly, the owners are so responsive and generous we seriously want to return again next year.
My wife, adult son, and myself loved this cabin for our long weekend visit to the area. Everything in the house was clean and up to date. The house itself is quite charming with a large variety of living areas and outside decks to enjoy. The kitchen was very well supplied and had everything one could want for cooking meals in the home. Tina was wonderful to work with and very accommodating when we had a last minute change of dates. We will definitely stay here again if the opportunity arises!
Cabin was spacious, clean and very well decorated. Kitchen was well stocked with needed items to cook plus many extras. The only thing that could have been better was having the yard mowed. The grass was so high the kids could not run around and play outside. There was a lightening strike which took out the power, but the owners were so helpful and power was established in the wee hours in the next morning. Would use this cabin again.

Thank you for your review. I am happy to hear that your family had a nice time. Thank you, also, for maintaining communication with me during the power outage. Fortunately, it was resolved very quickly.
I'm sorry you disapproved of the lawn. I immediately brought your concern to the attention of our lawn crew. I was told that due to unprecented rain this year, it has been difficult to keep yards mowed in a timely manner. But please keep in mind that, even during a normal spring with average rainfall, we do not have a tidy, manicured, lush green lawn with an irrigation system. As the listing description states, it is a "rustic yet refined" property. It is rural Montana. That's the beauty of it, and why most people love it ...it's God's country; wild, rugged, and free. We think it is a great place for kids to roam and explore and use their imaginations with nothing other than a big stick or a hatchet :)
For our 1st time visiting Montana we wanted to explore, yet have a comfortable home-base. The Bowmore Cabin was just that! It is a cozy, inviting home in a secluded area near the Crazy Mountains. Many rentals these days are minimally outfitted - Not the Bowmore! It was like borrowing a house someone lives in full-time. Our hosts thoughtfully provided everything we might need to enjoy our stay and more. We were spoiled- from the beautiful decor within (we loved all the lanterns & woodwork around the cabin), to the spectacular views and wildlife outside (we saw deer, antelope, cranes, and a moose), this was a much needed "warm hug" as it was spiritually rejuvenating for us. And the stars at night... spectacular! We slept in very comfortable king sized beds; cooked in a beautiful, well-outfitted kitchen; showered in a gorgeous, modern stone-walled shower; and ate meals while looking out at the picturesque views. One of us enjoyed a bubble bath in the claw-foot tub next to a large window that let the blue skies & pine trees "in". To those who are sensitive to smells, the Bowmore smelled fresh & had no trace of any mustiness. The water tasted great also. This cabin is pure rustic elegance, but with modern amenities. It's located about 1 1/2 hours from Yellowstone (Gardiner), but we were able to have a good balance between exploring and resting. We loved this place so much, we shed a few tears when we left. We hope to visit again one day!
From start to finish Tina was awesome to work with!
The cabin is as beautiful as we remembered from our previous stay.
With any luck, we’ll be back next year.
Loved this house so much and the views! The backyard was so wonderful to watch every night during dinner on the deck - we even had a black bear come out of the woods to check us out! The beds were very comfortable and the home had everything you need. We didn’t want to leave!
The cabin is located just far enough away from town and neighbors to feel like a real retreat. We really enjoyed sitting on the back deck with the pond view and seeing the parade of wildlife: moose, pronghorn, cranes and birds of all types.
Everything was spotlessly clean, beds were super comfortable, kitchen was well equipped. So many thoughtful touches throughout. The wonderful cabin decor was the icing on the cake. The communication with the owners was great. I’m looking forward to booking this place again.
This cabin was perfect for our family gathering! We were able to gather and make amazing memories. The whole house provided a sense of home. The history of the house was also very neat.
We loved the Cabin! Jim and Tina were very responsive and thoughtful. There was a snow storm that blew in and they had a neighbor make sure we got to the cabin safely. Great service. The family absolutely loved the cabin. Very cozy and beautiful.
We wanted to get away and unplug. This place more than fit the bill - especially because there was no cell phone reception, which is a plus in my book. I could step outside and literally hear nothing but the breeze through the pines. At night I was able to see stars by the millions. The cabin itself is spectacular - roomy and oh so functional. Sleeping in the bed is like sleeping in the clouds. Your every need throughout the cabin is anticipated and met. I was honestly so sad to go. I'm already scheming how I can figure another way to return - only in winter!
This "cabin" was well furnished with everything my husband and I needed. A hike or drive into Bozeman was only a short distance away. The evenings were spent sitting on the front porch, watching wildlife, or taking a stroll down the dirt road. While the choices of restaurants in Wilsall are minimal, there is a great grocery store in Clyde Park named Glenn's, as well as a smaller general store in Wilsall. Overall, it is an excellent property for anyone wanting to "unplug" from the hustle and bustle for a few days.
This is the perfect cabin if you love a beautifully appointed, rustic home with everything provided that you can think of. It actually feels like you are living in the past with all the modern amenities. The bed was extremely comfortable with high quality linens. Lovely claw footed tub for soaking was wonderful after a day of hiking. We loved watching the deer around the house every morning and evening. Seriously, this house is truly amazing and like nothing we have ever stayed in and we’ve stayed in many cabins. Every room is carefully decorated with unique pieces that fit the cabin perfectly. The owners were extremely responsive and easy to work with. We loved the peacefulness of being secluded from others. This is one of those gems you rarely find!!
The Bowmore Cabin was the perfect ending to our Grand Teton and Yellowstone adventure! The cabin was beautifully decorated, spacious and welcoming. Plenty of room for teenagers and adults to spread out after spending so much quality time together. The views are spectacular—nights are perfect for stargazing since the cabin is in a remote location. Plenty of wildlife spotting too!
The cabin is close to the Bridger-Gallatin national Forest, Livingston, and Bozeman, which makes it a good location for hiking, fishing, etc.

About the host
Hosted by Tina Benson
As of January 2018, the Bowmore is under new ownership. We are the Bensons, a family of six from MN who love to spend time together traveling to new places. We stayed a few nights at the Bowmore, fell in love with its charm and beauty, and were blessed beyond measure when we had the opportunity to purchase it from Rob and Lyndsey the following year. You have our word that the beauty, character, and attention to detail that they so lovingly put into the Bowmore will remain the same.
