Staying at Harbor View feels like the best of both worlds: a cozy, woodsy-cabin retreat with modern comforts, while also putting you right where all the lakefront charm, outdoor adventure, and small-town Wisconsin hospitality converge. You wake up, maybe walk to the lake, enjoy a day of swimming or hiking or browsing local shops, come back to fire up a grill or relax on the deck — all without needing to drive far.
What makes our property truly unique is its blend of location, history, and the classic lake-cabin feeling that has become increasingly rare around Geneva Lake. Our family has owned and cared for this property since 1970, and over the decades we’ve welcomed multiple generations of returning guests who now think of this place as their “home away from home.” That sense of familiarity, warmth, and tradition is something you simply don’t find everywhere.
The property sits just 1,500 feet from the Geneva Lakefront, yet it still offers the peaceful character of a quiet neighborhood—close to the beach, marina, parks, restaurants, and the iconic lake path. Very few properties today remain this close to the lake while still preserving the original charm of the area: the cozy cabin feel, the woods, the sense of old-time lake living, and the slower pace that makes vacations memorable.
We also take pride in running this as a family business, not a corporate rental. Guests appreciate the personal touch, the long-standing relationships we’ve built, and the knowledge that they’re staying somewhere that has been loved and cared for over 50 years. It’s this combination of location, history, and genuine hospitality that makes our property stand out from the rest.

The property was very clean and the beds super comfortable. We loved the shared outdoor deck and large yard. The owner was readily available and resolved the one issue we had. Location is a short walk to the public beach. Nothing to complain about really!

What a hidden gem. Loved this place, close to the lake. Jim was awesome !!! He was more than helpful with everything to make our stay more enjoyable. Thank you.
Great spot! Location is amazing. If you want to golf, go out on lake geneva or go see a concert at apline. Jim was a great host, always around to help you and would always quickly teturn your inquiry if you had a question. Will definitely return, thanks Jim.
It’s modest and dated, but priced right for those attributes. Picture old school motel w cabin like facade. It’s a really nice property w a large yard. Great for traveling w dogs. Homey and apartment like feel w a perfectly adequate kitchen space. The host is very kind and communicates so well. Even happily accommodated my request to grant my parents early access when they beat me there and were arriving earlier than check in time. The location is great. I’d stay here again and recommend to others!
Needed some unexpected requests and Jim was quick to accommodate. Greeted my family just as we arrived and was accessible throughout our stay. Everything was as expected and super clean. Very comfortable and a great place to stay when in Lake Geneva. Book now!
We had a fantastic time staying at the cabin! We were looking for a peaceful way to spend Memorial Day weekend and it was perfect. We were worried about the lack of privacy of the shared grounds, but the owner kindly offered to move us to the cabin closest to the front of the motel, which had a large grassy area that was perfect for our dog to run around. Overall it was really quiet and we had nothing to be worried about! Amenities are what you need for a couple of days - we really enjoyed the big firepit and grilled for dinner. Really close to the lake!
Great time!
A few things could be added to kitchen to cooking. Mixing bowls and a few more glasses for family groups.
Jim was a great host. Will definitely stay again
Jim was incredibly kind and communicative before and throughout our stay here. While there are multiple units connected, the outdoor area is large with plenty of seating. Firewood is stocked for the firepit away from all the units and we definitely had the feel of staying at a rustic cabin. Despite being Memorial Day weekend, the space was quiet and well kept. The 11-year-old with my partner and I was thrilled to have her own space connected to the main unit. This place has everything you and your family need for a nice time together close to all the activities of Lake Geneva.
We had 5 ladies in our group celebrating our 50th birthdays. The unit was clean and close to the lake. Jim, the property manager was very helpful. It’s nothing fancy but it’s just what we needed for the price. We will stay again!
We left after one night. Cabin I was in I sat on the toilet and fellover, the toilet and I. Had to put suitcase against fridge to keep it shut, no hot water. Then family had no hot water in their cabin and the pictures make the cabin look larger than what they are. Pictures are not up to date photos.

Response from VrboOwner on 9 Jun, 2021
This review is our of the Norm of reviews we receive. Our maintenance responded right away to their concerns , and found no issues with the hot water or toilet being loose. Our Cabins are well maintained, and the Photos were taken in 2020. Veronica arrived intoxicated which caused an immediate concern. She told us she had reserved our Cabin for her daughter and three young children which she not seen in years, and that her daughters husband will arrive later, and will need to sleep all weekend because he is a Truck Driver. As soon as the Husband arrived, loud arguing began and lasted into the next day, which caused the children to start screaming and crying. One of the neighbors called me and went across the street out of concern of the children. Again, out of concern of the children, the neighbor indicated she was going to call the Police. They argued with each other for about a half hour, got in their cars and took .off. They left the Cabin in terrible shape, and threw all their fast food garbage out their windows on the driveway. Fortunately, this is a very rare occurrence. We are in a very nice and quiet area near the Lake, that has a beach, natural walking areas, and nice restaurants.
The cabin was neat and Jim was very nice to let us check in earlier. It has a shared backyard with grill, fire pit and picnic tables. Walking distance to the lake.
Jim the owner was fantastic to deal with. Very accommodating. Rooms were great and spacious as we like to overpack first trips. Will definitely revisit this location again. Thanks Jim for everything!
This was the perfect property for our stay. We will definitely try to book for our next visit

A Little History of Williams Bay & Harbor View
Williams Bay has been welcoming lake visitors for nearly two centuries. What began as a Potawatomi settlement and later a small pioneer community grew into one of Geneva Lake’s most loved resort villages, attracting families, boaters, and vacationers from Chicago and beyond.
Harbor View Motel & Cabins are part of that tradition. Our family has owned and cared for this property since 1970, during a time when Williams Bay was still filled with classic lake cabins, mom-and-pop motels, and long-time summer families. We’ve had the pleasure of hosting generations of returning guests—many who still come back year after year for the same reasons: the beach, the fishing, the lake walks, and the familiar shops and restaurants that make Williams Bay feel like home.
What makes Harbor View special is that it still reflects the old-time Lake Geneva era—where you’re close to the water, surrounded by trees, and part of a quiet neighborhood, yet just steps from everything that makes the village come alive in summer. In a region where many historic properties have been replaced by large developments, we’re proud to preserve a place that feels like the Geneva Lake families remember.
We’re grateful to share this piece of Williams Bay history with you and look forward to helping you create your own lake memories.
Why they chose this property
We chose this neighborhood because it represents everything we love about Williams Bay and Geneva Lake—a peaceful, walkable lakeside setting with deep roots and a true sense of community. Our family has been here since 1970, and over the years we’ve watched this area grow while still keeping the charm that makes people fall in love with it.
What makes this spot special is how close it is to the lakefront, beach, marina, and village shops, yet it still feels quiet and relaxed. You can walk to everything, enjoy the shoreline, grab ice cream, or take a stroll along the lake path, then come back to a calm neighborhood surrounded by trees and lake breezes. It’s that rare mix of convenience, character, and classic Geneva Lake charm that keeps guests—and generations of families—coming back year after year.
What makes this property unique
What truly sets our property apart is its rare combination of location, history, and classic Geneva Lake charm. Our family has owned and cared for Harbor View since 1970, and over the decades we’ve welcomed multiple generations of returning guests—many of whom now think of this place as their “home away from home.” That kind of connection and continuity is something you simply can’t recreate.
