I feel so blessed that an unexpected opening became available at this property for the days i was to be in Hawaii. I arrived and immediately knew i would not ever want to leave! It is as pretty as the pictures and i would recommend this home to anyone.

Not only is view to die for, Audrey, your hostess could not have been kinder and more helpful. The meals she prepared were different every morning, and of wonderful generous portions. ( on the day she could not be available for breakfast she left us a scrumptious lunch which provided the perfect picnic when we were exploring) She also had everything we could ask for for a day at the beach - towels, chairs, hats, cooler, noodles, boogie boards, umbrellas, and a snorkel set! We only had to bring ourselves. The home is so pretty it was hard to get in the car for sightseeing each day!

The property is in a gated community - (keep an eye out for the wild turkeys, they call it Kohala RANCH for a reason!) You feel 100% safe here. The stars at night and the whales in the morning are sights i will never forget. I hope to go back and visit again.. Audrey showed us the real meaning of Aloha, Ohano and Mahalo.

Small note for people booking, this property is on the northwest corner of the island, and while you can drive to so many wonderful sites within an hour or less of it, please that know traffic, and for spring 2018, some construction around the Kona airport, will increase the time to get to some things on the southwest part. DO NOT let that deter you from staying here, just budget a little extra time if going that far south!!

What a beautiful setting! Audrey was very welcoming and kind, we lacked for nothing, it was very quiet and private. If I were to own a property on the island, this is exactly what I would want.

Best Place on the Big Island

  • 5 of 5

What an awesome place! Our family of four enjoyed every minute we were at the Makai Hale B&B. Audrey was so very nice and knowledgeable and made us feel most welcome. The accommodation and view are just grand as are the breakfasts! Swimming at night with the stars out and the hot tub are memories we will cherish forever. And the hospitality is just top-notch. I would recommend this property to anyone looking to relax and enjoy the best of Hawaii in a convenient location within 30 minutes of major activities in Kailua Kona and the North part of the Island. If we ever travel back to Hawaii we will definitely want to stay here again.

Beautiful Space and Gracious Hospitality

  • 5 of 5

This was a perfect place for our vacation. Beautiful views of the ocean with lots of whales to watch in the morning, or turn around and see the sun come up over Mauna Kea. Two comfortable bedrooms, each with their own bath, a warm pool if you didn't feel like going to the nearby beaches and a hot tub at night to enjoy the starry skies. Our hosts provided a wonderful breakfast -- so much fresh fruit and delicious Kona coffee -- and stocked the mini kitchen with things for our hikes. We were able to explore the entire island from the location and enjoyed the peacefulness of the setting. A great value and truly private.

Serene and beautiful, nutritious gourmet breakfasts, gracious hospitality, central to Kona Coast beaches and ancient Hawaiian sites, Waimea shopping and restaurants, day trips to volcanoes, waterfalls, etc. We relaxed and enjoyed the hot tub daily and getting to visit with non-intrusive host and hostess.
