Tournament at old hickory

We stayed to fish a local tournament. We had plenty of room and plenty of parking. Only issue was no outside outlet to plug boat up but we worked around that very easy. Very pleased with our stay and would definitely stay again.

Beautiful Area

The house is very nice. It is in a beautiful area with a deck where you can watch the deer and other wildlife. Very peaceful and relaxing. Easy 20-30 minute drive to Nashville. Owner was very responsive to a couple questions when they came up.

Nice stay close to a lot

Nice place for the price, lots of space for a family and big deck. There are people who live in the under space but no issues with it. Not much offered in the kitchen and baths besides the basics but we enjoyed the house and location.

Home was very large and had two full bathrooms (listing only said one). The master bed had its own full bathroom. Great area. Perfect for a weekend in Nashville.

We enjoyed our stay at the hill house, Only thing was we didnt realize there would be people staying below the house. When we got there we heard the noises. But its a decent place and my husband and i got a decent nights rest. It is a very large house.

We enjoyed our stay & great location. House is dated & mattresses need upgrade, the back porch was covered in old wet leaves so it wasn’t very appealing to sit out there & couldn’t find a broom to sweep, tub needs caulking. Was not aware that someone was living in basement until we arrived & their dogs started barking from basement. It was a bit creepy. The cost was fair & I would stay again despite my concerns due to ease of renting, location & overall value.

So cozy and joyful

My 4 y/o kept asking if this was going to be our new home. We hadn't realized the internet was out (we were informed by the host) because my child actually loved everything about the house- the moss growing on the deck (it was her first time seeing moss!), the air hockey table, the deer, the mock strawberries growing outside, the gravestone- everything. She was entranced and so happy. We were driving home and she was ready to go back again. I really hope we return and come back to this house. Jay and his team were very pleasant and kind!

House was ok some things were dirty like the dishwasher. Beds were a little uncomfortable. And front door couldnt be locked do to door latch not being installed properly. Luckily its a very nice neighborhood so didnt matter. Would recomend owner update furniture and get some better kitchen appliances. Other than that perfect for price and a place to sleep after being out in nashville.

Pretty rundown overall

One bathroom leaked tons of water constantly & was FULL of black mold. The rest of the house was poorly maintained & cleaned. The bathroom had bloodstains on the wall & ceiling somehow. The kitchen walls & cabinets had cooking splatter & residue all over. I'd not recommend.

We arrived around 7pm to find the place had not been cleaned from previous occupants. Owner sent housekeeper. Kitchen is NOT equipped for eating there. Maybe 3 forks (sleeps 10?). Janky range. Inside dishwasher COVERED with mold/mold stain. Wifi password info not right, responded to our calls for help with that 30 mins after we left place. Nice view out back, several deer played in yard, kids loved air hockey table.

Host Had to Cancel

With no fault of their own, the Host of the property had to cancel my stay. There was a major maintenance issue at the property, and it could not be rented. It is still not available. They were very good to us and refunded all of our money and then some. They did try to give us something else, but it was too far from where we wanted to be. If I could have rated the above, it would have been happy to give them 5 stars just for the communication and concern for us, the guests. Don't go by my stars, but had to put something in it to be able to submit.

Mold

As soon as you walk into the house you are overwhelmed with the smell of mold/musk, it was overpowering, we immediately opened the doors and windows but it never went away. The dishwasher was full of mold with grey water sitting in the bottom. The bathtub had mold as well. There is also a family or two living in a separate living area under the house, very unnerving for women staying alone since the only thing separating the units was a Basement door with screws holding it closed. Plus we couldn’t park in the driveway and had to park in the yard under trees during a storm which scattered limbs all over our vehicles.

Not terrible, but aware that you're not alone

The house is old, but reasonably clean. The A/C was not working and NONE of the numbers listed were valid. Eventually, one of the 4 numbers I had left a voicemail on returned the call and told me how to get ahold of the new owners - which required that we drive there (in another city), since the caller did not have the number(s). Once there, John was very friendly and accommodating (he also gave me updated phone #s) and Randy (service) was very helpful in getting our A/C working - albeit several hours later (they seem to be under-staffed). The Wifi didn't work -- maybe wrong passwords, too? (not that I care - but many prospective tenants will). Worse of all - we thought we would be staying in a house and, instead, we stayed in the top floor of a duplex and had NOISY neighbors (SCREAMING kids) - which is the very reason we started going to VRBOs instead of hotels. They need to highlight that on the listing.

Hill view house

The house its self was good for what we needed. Just a place to lay our heads and study for an aviation license school. House was very spacious and relatively clean. Now the not so great. First the dishwasher was horrible. It was moldy and had stagnant water still in it. The washer and dryer didn’t work although a few days into our stay the maintenance man dropped off a pair that did work. Then we had to stop using it because it was flooding the downstairs tenants and starting to overflow into the space we rented. Never got an update as far as when we could or couldn’t wash again. Communication was bad. I called and texted but only got an answer once or twice. That really was my biggest gripe. Lastly the pot, pans, and stove were so old and busted. The stove took a little bit to heat up and the pots and pans were a hodgepodge mix with no matching lids that seemed to just be gathered. The utensils were no good either. I couldn’t cut anything with the one dull knife or the two dull steak knives. Dull knives are the most dangerous. A Walmart pots and pans set would have gone a real long way, along with a good set of knives and basic utensils. Easily a 2-3 hundred dollar fix that would make this place great. Overall the house did the job we needed for our two week stay for school, but this easily could’ve been a 4-5 star review with a little love and attention put into it by the owners and better or more communication with the tenants.

Another party was renting the lower level

When we arrived, we were very surprised to see a large dog tied up in the back yard. We discovered there was someone renting the lower level of the house, which was not previously disclosed. We had our dogs with us and would not have rented the house had we known there would be other dogs present. The second night someone different arrived with two dogs that were left alone in the lower level and barked until after midnight. The owner was contacted and took care of the problem. There was also a leaking shower that was pointed out to the owner, but was not repaired while we were there. We were going to use the dishwasher, but it has not worked for a long time because upon opening the door the smell was awful. There were also no blankets in the house and only 2 drinking glasses in the kitchen. Overall the house needs some work, as in bathtub caulking, etc.

Great property, great price

This was a girls weekend stay. Great property for the money. There were a couple of things that I reached out to property owner that needed to be fixed however maintenance couldn't make it while we stayed. We were only there two nights. Property needs a fresh coat of paint other than that and the little things we made owner aware of we were very pleased and definitely will be back when we visit Nashville.

Great quiet neighborhood

The property served my friend and I well as we were in town for a five day do competition in LaVergne, TN. The neighborhood was quiet and peaceful with ample parking for our large truck and dog trailer.

This is a great little gem of a house bring back fun memories or new experiences for some of life in the 60's. It is clean, quiet, safe and well appointed buy not lavish or ritzy. Very affordable and great for family vacations and getaways. You are reserving the upper brick house pictured and there is a separate lower space with its own entrance with no interaction between the two spaces. Please let me know if you have questions.
